BOOO!!!

They say startling someone helps get rid of hiccups.. Did it work? :pirate:
(My family used to say "hold your breath for five minutes". Asphyxiation solves most health problems... permanently.)

i heard of drinking water upsidedown

also heard of asking the person of their middle name (the idea is to get their thoughts elsewhere)

i have found that none of these work when i have a fit of hiccups...good thing i haven't had one in years :) (i hope that won't jinx it now :ninja: )

I do have the idea that it helps to get my mind off it to get rid of it. But it might just be that I can't get my mind off the hiccups until they are over; so the correlation might not actually be indicative of a remedy.

Yeah, and depending on whether people want to have a laugh at your expense. Which, I suspect, goes for most anti-hiccup suggestions.

I remember one time, someone was complaining how he'd had the hiccups for almost the whole day. So I helpfully explained that there are people that suffer from a hiccup for months, even years, so he's got something to look forward to.
He didn't think it was funny.

Wha? ...Hiccups are because of stuck air in your stomach. Breathe through your stomach valve for 2 breaths* and they're gone with the air without fail (as of yet, it hasn't failed for anyone I've taught it to yet if they do it right). And if you can't do that, forcibly burp and they're gone, too...

(**If you breathe through your stomach valve, though, be ALL THE WAY right side up. Bile and puke comes straight out otherwise without anything to stop it if you're say, lying down or upside down.)

And being scared isn't fun. I'm so paranoid from my friends that I whirl around on nothing all the time now. People are going to think I'm mental..

EDIT: That is HILARIOUS, towr. Mean, but funny.
