Ehhh, don't ask me- the anime and manga have the strange effect of making me run for the nearest exit (which is to say, I don't like watching anime so therefore it tries to pound its way into my poor brain...)
Really, I think it's all kind of silly- that's just me ;) :ninja:

Meh, that's almost certainly just a result of the limited range of anime you've been exposed to. Unless you hate every form of animation at all. There is a lot of silly anime, certainly, but there is also a lot anime that can't by the furthest stretch of the imagination be called silly.
I mean, that's like judging all Jim Carrey movies on only his comedies (which make me want to gouge my eyes out and run away screaming); but he's pretty good in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" for instance.

For a more epic sort of anime, you could try "Deathnote". It's a pure psychological thriller, and one of the best series I've seen. Aside from the few fantasy elements (like a notebook where if you write a name that person dies), there's really nothing silly about it.

Eh, it might be true that there would be an anime or so that I like, but I don't really want to go looking. I almost kinda don't really want to like it (don't ask- I'm not sure of the whys myself yet. It probably has something to do with the overobsession of my brothers with it, if that makes any sense).
Eeeeemm, I think I'm confusing myself.....

Yeah, it makes sense :)
There are plenty of things I 'hate' for no other reason than that I'm sick of people obsessing over it. It becomes spoiled by association.
Besides, there are plenty of other ways to entertain yourself, like reading books. So there's no pressing reason why you should watch anime, or go out of your way to find one that's good. It's not like it's a life-altering experience (and I'm a bit scared for/of the people that seem to think it is).

Is Tales of the Abyss based off of a game? Less I'm mistaking it for something else but I have heard of a game called Tales of -something. I forgot.:$
You seem to be right. It's the eight title in a whole series of "tales of ... " games. And it's been adapted for anime, so it would be surprising if it wasn't the very same one.
Thanks Twor!

Watched Studio Ghibli's The Cat Returns, a rather cute anime.

Love the Kingdom Hearts manga but then again, I also love Shiro Amano's art style as well. I have six of the eight released mangas.

Yeah, I'm glad they made a manga from the game.

I think this would be the right place to ask but does anyone here recognized these anime figurines? They all came in a bag at Goodwill (with a funny looking Link which is not shown) and not being the total anime expert I thought one of you good folks could put names to these guys.

The first one looks like Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. It's not a very good likeness though.
I don't know about the rest.

Thanks, Towr.
I saw the Sakura picture, yeah the toy does look different from the original. I still like it though, her staff is cool heck, I want one -I could find a strong misuse-use for it. >:D

But if you thought that was not a good likeness you should see the Link character I got. He's an oranged haired Link with a doofus look on his face and the way his legs are position he looks as though he's been riding Epona waaaay too long.

And he has no pants.

Eeeee....

Sorry I can't be of help with identifying them, but the figures do look pretty/cute.

Uh, Towr, what's your avatar a picture of now?

Monique from sinfest protesting for peace, and possibly love.
I've had a bit of a webcomic theme the last few weeks. I don't know if I'll keep that up much longer though.
