*eyeroll* Relax. My alcoholic tastes are exclusive and rarely applied. (A sweet, fruity wine can really make a dessert even more lovely.) You guys have just never had good alcohol most likely. Most of it will make you gag (about 80%), but there are a few very nice ones. For instance - what kind of beer have you people tasted?

My dad's a wine connoisseur. My uncle, who lived with us for a year, ran a fancy restaurant for a while, and is a chef (not a cook). They both love fine wine. Which I've tasted. Which sucks, like every other alcoholic drink I've tasted.

And about the beer thing...Sam Adams.

I asked "beer" not "wine", but if you don't like, that's ok, too. I'm not arguing - most people don't like it. *shrug* It's a little saddening, but not enough to bug me.

Well, I'm not against alcohol per se. I just dislike the taste of most beverages/dishes containing alcohol, and don't see the point of adding alcohol to something that tastes just as well or better without it.
I find the taste of wine in general revolting, and beer smells so bad I've never even tried it; although it may work in some dishes (like ones involving batters). Wine just ruins a whole dish for me though; no wine vinegar either.
But tastes vary.

One thing I do like is "bitterkoekjes pudding", which involves soaking the "bitterkoekjes" (a type of cookie in case it's not obvious) in amaretto, and adding them to warm homemade custard.
And I didn't mind Whiskey too much.

The only kind of alcoholic drink I've had is two sips of wine. One white (at a wedding) the other red (at a church service) both tasted disgusting. don't plan on trying anything else either.

I'm not against the consumption of alcoholic drinks - Jesus drank, so it can't be that bad (not to mention that Paul suggests using alcohol for its medicinal benefits) - but I am against overconsumption and the illegal consumption of said beverages.

This mentality saves a Lot of trouble, really. Granted, we... Mormons have particular views about this to which I ascribe, so... <shrug>
Yeah, my biggest personal problem with alcohol is all of my associates who drink do so at least partly in order to be drunk. Which is stupid.

Yeah, see that's the dumbest part of it...drinking specifically to impair your cerebral processes.

WTF?

"In that case I'll have a beer."
"We don't got no beer."
"Well what do you have?"
"Only Tequila..."
"What's that?"
"Oh...it's like beer..."
