Who said anything about 'co-' ANYthing? Conspirator, I quite likely am. But that's singular (well, for the moment at least...) :ninja2:

<shrug> Sub-servient roles cannot be confused with equal.

<bows respectfully> Your slave, Hakkikt. (And that's a line NO ONE will understand, but I've been dying to use for years)

Sure everyone is equal. <nods> You are just all more equal than I am. <nods more emphatically>

No. Absolutely not. Everyone is above you - it is your job to make it above them and crush them before they can crush you.

Don't be silly. You rate above the random mooks on the street. I'm not a utilitarian. Equality is for people that don't have a place in a complex web of inter-personal relations.

*takes topic and runs with it*

Suppose, say, you have a cat (or if you prefer, dog, or polar bear), and it is ill, and you need to go to a vet. It will cost $100 to save its life. Consider at the same time, you can vaccinate a dozen children in far-off Africa and save their lives.
You're gonna choose your cat, though, aren't you? Most people would. They don't even consider the lives they could save, far away and out of view. It's the very real life of your beloved cat versus a dozen hypothetical lives that have no meaning to you.
Or what if it's your computer that needs fixing? I mean, you might still say all lives are equal, pet or people (although you'd think a dozen lives would outweigh one, if they have equal weight).

It just doesn't work to consider all people equals, except in a hypothetical sense. Our brain isn't up to the task to consider that many people.
And even on a local level, it wouldn't be fair to consider the people you know as equal. You can't expect the same of a child and an adult. And you should prioritize family and loved ones over mere acquaintances.
They earn respect in different ways, and we owe them different kinds of respect for it. Friends earn respect by being good friends, a boss earns respect by being a good boss, an employee by being a good employee, an enemy by being a good enemy. Each according to their role. If someone, say, wants to be my friend, they will have to earn the respect that comes with the position; until then they get only the respect that comes with the roles they do fulfill.

I really hope you don't mean 'you' in a general sense....because that doesn't work.

Well, if everyone (the you in a general sense) is at the absolute bottom (has everyone else above them), then who are the people who are above, since they're at the bottom....I dunno, maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but it's making an infinite loop in my head.

That's because it's only true in the first person, mom. Which in reality, as contradictory as it seems, isn't a contradiction at all as it's a matter of the individual view of other people. Not the actual conditions.
Think how (well, I'm assuming this has happened to most of you at some point) someone who you think of as 'better than you' praises you for something you did with "I wish I could do that." In that limited sense, they see you as above them at the same time you see them as above you, right?

But it's actually a lot simpler than that, since you're all above the DeepDark. :ninja:

Yeah, mom. That.

I think I get that title, Dark - sorry. I've been sitting on rock bottom for years, and I actually kinda like it now, so YOU CAN'T HAVE IT. :P
