Heh...three of my sisters have learned ASL (I mean, actually learned it...up to interpreter level and such). I only ever got down the alphabet ('cause I was busy with German at the time :P ).

I have trouble remembering 'l'. I think that's it.

"I" is just your pinky held straight up. :)

Mama taught it to us starting at babyhood. At 3 months we could open and close our fist rapidly (like milking a cow) to ask for milk, or sign "wet" for a diaper change, start hitting our chin for "mom".. basic things. It made babycare that much easier - babies like it when they can say what they want.

And one other thing, yelling is hilarious. VERY FORCEFUL SIGNING, but that's it. A friend of my mom's went to counsel at a deaf camp, and he said "It made a nice problem of having to run around all day looking for really angry signing before the fights. But it was so quiet." And last week I saw two librarians fighting across the room from each other. "Stop yelling at me!" when said with hands is pretty awesome.

No, dearie, not 'i'. 'L'. Ah, the ambiguity of Arial font...

Yeah, my sisters teach the younger ones to sign.

I always found 'l' easy cause of that silly left-right trick. You hold your pionter finger and thumb at a right angle (pointer up, thumb horizontal) and the one that's a forward 'l' is your left hand. . Since that's the same thing you do to sign 'l', makes it easy for me to remember.

Oh I know that trick! I see it all the time when driving with people when they let go of the wheel/drive with their knees and use it so they know which way to turn 'cause no one knows their right from their left! I always realize how short life is after it take so little time to flash before my eyes!

No dearie, that's not life, that's just YOUR life. It also seems shorter if it's really boring.

Probably true. If that's the case then I don't want to even think about how long it would take for your life to flash. You'd never even see it.

I'd see the first few hours of it, sure. Then I'd try to fall asleep. I've had rather more excitement in my life than I'd like. Trade?

The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The water's getting warm so you might as well swim
My world's on fire how about yours
That's the way I like it and I never get bored

No. My life is better than yours. It's a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants joyride, to be precise. Go find one of your own.

Yeah right. Just because I plan doesn't mean that excitement doesn't happen. And usually, it means I went looking for it.

"When you least expect it. EXPECT IT." I expect unexpected things to a point, so that's why it's the greatest ride EVER! Because it's all taken in stride! "Don't QUESTION it, man, just GO with it!"

I know my plans won't go accordingly - I have bad luck. So I may as well be ready to pull Plan I for Improvise after plans A-H fail.
