.....no one knows exactly how it's gonna happen either, so's it okay if I laugh at people trying to predict what will happen as well? ;)

Not really. We do have a pretty good idea what will happen - 'the dead in Christ will rise first', and all that, but feel free to laugh if we get too specific. Like, if we say that we're all gonna be hoisted into the air by our ankles.

I always imagined a bright flash of light, the heavens breaking open, and being gone in an instant. That's it. No chariots and stuff, just like a bolt of lightening, and only the people left will see anything else.

Oh. That reminds me... Funny story!!: My oldest brother was being a jerk and abandoning his faith when I was like, eight, so my mom had him watch Left Behind before bed. Then , the following morning, had us kids help her lay clothes out everywhere like they had been on our bodies (like at the table, the sofa etc), and hide before he woke up.

I've never seen him look so freaked out since.

That's a rather rotten thing to do. Granted, it is funny.
However, It doesn't seem to me a way to instill a sincere belief in God's love. Quite the opposite. It's just deceitful, and as meaningless as converting people at the point of a sword.

Eh, if people want to wish me well, they may do so in whatever way makes their intention clear (as long as it doesn't harm someone. No human sacrifices for my well-being, please*. Unless I get to pick the victim ;) )
I don't know why some people make an issue of it.

*) I'm also not hot on animal sacrifices, just to make that clear. It's the thought that counts, destruction of life or property really isn't necessary.

It wasn't meant to. My parents respected his wishes to the fullest, and still do to this day. They had warned him about talking about it when there were little ears around and shaking our faith (don't get me wrong, my parents love nothing more than our questions, but there's a difference in putting ideas out and telling your parent you don't believe in God in front of your little sibs when said little sibs look at everything you say as cool), however, and as an angsty teen he was disregarding them and being a douche about EVERYTHING. It was more to tell him. "Hey, you still live at home, stop being a jerk and respect the rules." than anything. And it did. He snapped out of it. He's a sweetie now, with a little one on the way, with a wife and a house, and while we don't really know if he's a Christian anymore or not, he knows to make debates that are grounded and not meaningless bullshit. He thinks more now, and learned that he can disagree with us and be okay.

And it was funny as all get out at the time - even he laughs at it now.

Ah, yeah. Angsty teens can be douchy like that. I think I was too calculating for that when I was an angsty teen. It's impractical to upset the people you're dependent on. I can't vouch for what I'd have done if I had won the lottery though

Hmm... Do you have any names that come to mind then?

As to the rest of this... Well, by rights I should be dead nine years ago, and suffice to say I know why it is that I'm not. This kinda colors my entire perspective.

... It's definitely starting to sound like we need to compare notes as to our 'world' of origin. I had a shrink (sort of) through fourth grade - since then I figured out how to fool 'em.

Oh, there's a few that come to mind. Both for my own benefit, and the world at large.
I still wouldn't want to be in any way a cause of someone's demise though. Perhaps if it was a sort of trap, where their own bad choices proves their undoing, that'd be ok. (Like, arranging a terrorist to have a gun that will backfire on him if he uses it. That sort of poetic justice.)
