I was really tempted to reply with just "Not tasty chocolates" or something like that.
Maybe I'm hungry? :-/

But yeah, I'm not so good at condensing a storyline into a short synopsis (more the opposite really), so...

Punisher is a Marvel comics character who uses slug-throwers instead of powers.

well here's a good way of putting the movie:

undercover officer (good guy) cathces badguys...something goes wrong one bad guy dies (son of arch rival) wife of arch rival orders the one responsible to be terminated (along with entire family) they find his best friend to rat him out

good guy is having family get together...they are all killed but he somehow survives and trains himself to punish the ones responsible (its how he goes about it that is really intriguing)

good guy 'punishes' arch rival the end (it is much better than this believe me)

From what I've read, he is the one who actually kills the bad guys to keep people safe.

Person: "You're nothing but a killer!"
Punisher: "I'm okay with that."

That right there, is what everyone who dares to be a marvel hero should say. A hero does someone who is good in my opinion, and "good" does not always translate into "nice".

The problem with killing bad guys is that you can't unkill them if you make a mistake. So a hero should be at least a bit reluctant to kill gratuitously.
That's why I'm in favour of letting them doom themselves.

thats what the punisher did, towr...he set it up so the bad guy would destroy himself (he killed his best friend and wife because of it)

the funny thing is...they were bad guys...but they were loyal to each other (kind of like a pack of wolves...only not so honorable)

I respect bad guys like that. "For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the wolf is the pack." My dad made that our family motto.

True. It seems so much more artful that way, I guess, but that's only if you have the time to do so. If it's a CHANCE they could doom themselves but they may still get away, I am not above clubbing in the back of the head.

I'm with towr on this one...

Quote:

FRODO: "It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance..."
GANDALF: "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgment. Some that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo?"

Tho', I suppose you could get around it by simply tranquilizing them and locking them up somewhere...

I'm all for mercy, don't get me wrong. But if someone makes if to bad guy status in my view, there will be no mercy. It takes A LOT to make it to "bad guy" status in my book - so by the time you do you're out of chances because you've used them all three times over. *shrug* Minor bad guys still have the option of prison.

Whereas, if someone reaches bad guy status for me, I'm all for hitting them over the head and knocking them out. And then if they are really bad, I can dump them on the authorities to be taken care of. I really don't like killing people- even bad guys.

I hate the idea, too. :-/ but if they would be on death row for the things they've done if we had a better justice system, it's duty.

(I was born like this - I don't like the way I sound anymore than you guys probably do.)

don't worry... i agree

and if they are so obviously guilty of the crimes for which they were committed then those on death roe should be over and done with already :-/ (now economics comes in)
