*cracks fingers with an evil grin* Heh. Men, we're all going to regret this one. Especially my busted finger. *starts speed typing*

Kinesthetic is to do things physically in an activity in order to understand something. (When I was learning long division WAY back when, I couldn't get it until my older brother (resident math tutor) went and got different colored blocks for little me to actually MOVE to different groups. THEN I understood where the numbers went to.) Not as extreme once you get older, but you generally understand how to do something after you do it yourself vs being simply shown or told how to do something. Students who are mainly kinesthetic tend to be the ones to want to write on the board, sit in the chair and be told what to click next VS "Then you go to File and open..",

Auditory is when one tends to understand something better after hearing it. For instance:
You can be lost in the text for hours but once you hear the lecture, you're pretty good.
How-To diagrams aren't as effective as hearing "What you need to do is put A into C, the get out..." Students who are mainly auditory tend to be the ones aimlessly doodling or staring at their notebooks, randomly playing with a keychain, resting their heads on the desk, or even have their eyes closed; because they're listening but that's about it. (If you're like me the graphs aren't going to help you half as much as hearing them explained.)

Visual is understanding things better when you see someone do it, having graphs or other visual aids, and using visual memory a lot. You'll understand a concept much better after seeing it preformed, you like graphs and diagrams, you make a lot of use of your visual memory using association of symbols, colors, etc. Students create graphic organizers such as diagrams, webs and concept maps by selecting symbols to represent ideas and information. Students who are mainly visual tend to be the (more or less) wide awake pupils watching the teacher closely, observing a lot before trying it, making their own graphs in notes is one is not there, etc etc. They use a lot of association and can read things out of book very very well and understand it fine. (I'm am so far not one so this one is harder for me to describe)

Basically:
"Walk me through."
"Tell me what."
"Show me how."

Like any learning style, most people are not ONE specific thing; they are usually just ordered and you tend to lean on one for one and perhaps another for something else. If you're like me you only really have two, some people only have one that they can really work well with, and like my sister, some people can just learn any of those three ways. But you'll most likely have one that you learn better with, and have a little more trouble with for others. I'm heavily auditory and after that kinesthetic - I CAN learn visually, but it take a heck of a lot longer and doesn't register as well.

*flexes fingers* Ow. I'm done. I'm getting off. I forgot what a pain speed trying is for injured and achy fingers.

in that case i am visual through Kinesthetic

if i can take it apart i can figure out how to put it back together

if i see someone doing something i can finish it for them when i see that they are already making mistakes...which also frustrates me...

in all i am best when i know how it works and i am able to explain it to others using all those meathods if need be

i do well with auditory recognition and i am a good listener but only because i have taught myself to listen

Probably. But only quietly this time. :D

Well, going by those descriptions... I always learned science/pure academic stuff best mostly visually (wouldn't need to attend classes if I have a decent text-book). Things like language I learn by hearing mostly.
And other disciplines, writing/drawing, mechanical work (like how to fix an A/C) or anything directly physical I can only learn by actually doing.

So it's less that I have one way I learn more than another, and more what it is I'm learning that dictates how I learn it.

*looks on apathetically* Aw, man, she's like the rattlesnake: Keeps biting even after it's dead until it finally registers; talk about lag. Only she laughs instead of chomping.

You're laughing about my taking subjects and thinking about them, aren't you?

You honestly expect any kind of straight answer out of her?

Wow, that's some impressively long-lived "benefit of the doubt"

I rather expect people to be smart enough give me a straight answer if they want the same from me, yes.
