Do you work in semesters? We used to have trimesters at university till they switches to quarters and semesters (and many of the faculties didn't quite match up when they started, which was real pain.) |

I'm in the middle of the winter semester for my college course (finished wk 6). They've got four semesters. But for high school, yeah, it's the second semester. Me: In between semesters for me= Christmas Break. |

You can't have four semesters in a year. A semester is half an academic year; having four halves is overdoing it a bit. |

it's stuip, towr, but they call it anything... exaple with splitting by calling them terms: 1. four terms in which each is a quarter of the year or 2. two terms in which each is a semester (i have had both and it gets confusing when they just spit out words without obeing their meanings) |

I've been on trimesters before, and a lot of colleges I ... know call 'em semesters and the regular year is Fall and Spring semester. But then they offer summer (and in some cases winter) classes and they also call them semesters. So don't ask me |

It depends which college you go to, towr. The three of my siblings in college have all three. One has the semester system, one has the trimester system, and one has the quarter system. I think I'm doing semesters. For Me it goes: Mid September to mid December = School Mid December to early January = Break Early January to mid June = School Mid June to Mid September = Summer Break (Er, that is, if I if fact, take summer break.) |

When do you have exams? Because that's what usually ends a trimester/quarter/semester. And in my case those exam weeks pretty much equaled having an extra break, because if I paid attention in class I usually only needed to read through my notes the day before. |

Whenever the heck I want. Advantage of homeschooling - as long as you know the material before the start of the next school year you're fine. If you haven't gotten through the tests by the end of the school year, you'll be working the summer, and if you STILL don't you'll be taking them two weeks before the start of the next grade regardless of whether you're ready or not. I once took "End of semester" algebra exams two months into the school year and aced em I got through so fast, but didn't get through science chem until a month into summer break. XP That was a fun year.

Heh, I have to pay attention to what quarter it is, cause every time a quarter ends, I get new classes! (at least, my study halls change, as well as my history classes.) For the second semester anyway. (the first sememster the two quarters are the same) |

Yeah, it's a trimester system, but they keep calling them semesters. So, I do it too. |
