Heh. Paul though he must have been in the End Times with Rome and all the crap that was, and a ton of people thought Hitler was the Antichrist and we were in the End Times during WWII - seemed pretty accurate, but turns out not our time yet. I don't know if this is the end times or not, I just be ready for it.
What if Hitler was an antichrist? My family came up with a theory as to why there's always some dictator kicking around somewhere - I mean, Satan doesn't know when Jesus is returning, so he's got to have one in the works all the time, just to be ready for it.

Sort of like some of the people from The Belgariad, if any of you have read it.

I don't run.

I cry.

'Cause really, my God can handle him - and anything else that his god throws at me.
That's a foolish mindset, no offense, dear. If they're young and have not leveled up, fine. But if they've been in long enough you don't mess with them. I remind you Satan is the second most powerful being in the universe - he gives someone power it's a good idea not to mess with them. Don't FEAR them, right; but TRY not to anger them. The only thing we're exempt from is possession. We're fair game for anything else.

But to see someone that lost is just heartbreaking.
Why is it anymore heartbreaking than the random lost joe? They're just as hell bound.

I  your family's assessment of the dictators, though.

Foolish only by the world's standards, darling. The worst he can do is send me Home. No need to fear. The only reason why I might try to avoid aggravating him is because I've been told "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all". That's it.

But the average Joe's not worshiping Satan directly. There's a difference when it comes to how hard they are to turn around and set them going the opposite way.

Thank you. It was a group effort.

I prefer to think God is very definite in how he operates. I don't see anything about Him being deliberately nebulous.
yeah...isn't He almighty and all good...everything loving...doesn't He want us, his children, to be in good health? He wouldn't want us to suffer...as any parent would struggle to see children suffer

But He's also just, and seeing as every single one of us has broken the Law, we all deserve punishment...it's only His mercy and love that keep us from getting what we rightly deserve.

yes but punishment and suffering needn't go hand in hand...He wouldn't unmercifully torture His childeren...it's not at all good or just...in no way kind and forgiving...that is not the character that we were raise to love and cherrish through our good deeds

What have infants born with a genetic disease done to deserve it? How have they broken any Law before they were born?
I don't believe humanity's sufferings are a punishment, overall. It's a chance to prove we're human, by eliminating as much of it as we can on our own. It would be a worthless life to have everything just thrown in your lap.

that has to do with nature, towr...it's not that God wants people to suffer...it's that nature isn't perfect...true He made everything...made the components at the foundation...all the components are 100% perfect...the problem lies in their free interactions with eachother (here is where science comes in...see how it all goes together?)

Oftentimes, Kari, you'll find that God doesn't neatly fit our idea of Him. Probably because He's God, and we can't quite understand Him. All we can do is make guesses on His nature based on what we see in humans, because we were created in His image. That being said, who said God had the same idea of 'fair' as you? We've all broken every facet of the Law - because, according to Jesus, if you've broken one you've broken 'em all - and that's quite deserving of punishment, and suffering, if you're going to detach the two (which I would not). I think C.S. Lewis put it best:

"The real problem is not why some pious, humble, believing people suffer, but why some do not. "

To towr: what you're looking for is Psalm 58:3 ::

"The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies."

He's omniscient, He knew all that from the start. The free interaction, and all that comes from it, must be what he wanted.

It's called 'sin nature'.

ok...so your saying that Jesus only invited sinners to the table so he could stone them to death when they weren't looking? really, Jason, all of it is there...you need only see...even Jesus himself stated (i can't remember specifics right now) clues that there is nno hell but only the hell we create for ourselves...if there is any bad comming our way it is because of our own misconduct that it will happen...not because God wants to hurt us...but because we ourselves have destroyed

I can't say I've ever heard a baby speak as soon as it was born, let alone lie. And even if it were so, it doesn't change the fact they're 'punished' long, long before that.

It's God's business to execute the Law, and the Law clearly states what's supposed to happen to sinners...Jesus came down to offer us a way out. That way out is freely available to all, so there's no reason why God should stop. Besides, James says that "the testing of our faith produces patience", thereby showing what suffering is there for...

Well, according to God, you're a sinner from the moment you're born.

They're punished before that? Really? So in other words, they really are people inside the mother, not useless lumps of flesh?
