There's Argentinian, Colombian, Spanish, and Bolivian -accented Spanish. Then there's all the sub-sections of those accents. So there's way more than three. |

Yeah, that's kinda what I meant by all the different sub-sections. There's even American Spanish accents. So many different ones...

Right, that's what I meant. I mean, I still pronounce the Spanish 'c' as 'th' (courtesy of my Spanish teacher from Spain), and I picked up pronouncing the 'y' as 'j' from the Argentinian kid in those videos she made us watch... |

I tried the "th" vs "c" 'cause that's what my siblings learned. But then my lithp started back with a vengeance so I had to stop. J = H. LL = J. H = silent. |

Well, 'll' is s'posed to be the 'y' sound, so I just pronounce it like 'j' like I would the 'y'... |

I believe that's true for Castillo, but in South America "ll" = "J".. |

That's the Argentinian accent, dear... The 'perfect' Spanish accent (Colombian) pronounces it 'y'...

you have a spanish teacher who knows what she's talking about?! laucky...i usually have to correct my spanish teachers...always pronouncing with such a plain american accent...it's "tres"...NOT "trace" LL is closer to a mixture of LJY sounds...that one, i have yet to get just right XD but actually it depends on which form you're using...some simplify it to a J sound and others to a Y sound...but it combines LyL in a unique way sounds a bit like "lyeh" |

Like I'd know - or really care for that matter. That's actually how my professor is trying to get Me to pronounce it. I'm too stuck in my ways, though. So she just says something like "You're pathetic." and keeps going. (She's so funny and snarky.) But now I can do it - with less than a month of classes left. I just learned 'll' = 'j'. |

For the Argentinian. My Colombian-accent Spanish prof would have a fit over that. |

My prof is just so grateful for someone who actually has an accent she doesn't care about the variations. She even mispronounces things slightly so when the gringos mangle it it sounds like the real thing. She's a genius.Though it would be funny to put them all in a room together and watch them twitch while talking to each other. |

Domini-speech. I think it used to be Spanish. And yeah, dialects of most germanic/european languages have nothing on Chinese dialects. I speak Mandarin, can get tidbits of the Cantonese 'dialect' but Shanghai-hua may as well be Vietnamese - sound wise it has far fewer common elements than English does with German. The other dialects get worse from there. |
