会吃葡萄,不吐葡萄皮。不吃葡萄到吐葡萄皮。

Ooh! Hitting guys with a sap is a little ... uncreative, but terribly effective (and fun!) <collects several blunt instruments and heads for the door>

ok...we need inhabitants for our zoo/shop/thing o.O

hmm Me, shall we begin with towr?
It would probably easier to start closer to home.

Although, I've been thinking. Are you guys sure it's a good idea to turn the male population into pets. I mean, you'd have to feed them, clean up after them, take responsibility for their messes. So basically, you're just reaffirming the current gender roles.

It's all about making the stuff they wanna do not a right. Think how much you could get a gamer to do if his Xbox hung in the balance? And that's a fairly minimal example. You could get them to were simply getting to go without a leash inside the house for awhile would be worth so much....

It's all in the presentation.

Problem with that is that if you treat men as pets, then these things might tend towards animal abuse.

That's what I'm saying.
But at least now "bringing home the bacon" is the man's job in the world of stereotypes. But if they're pets, women would still have to do all that work taking care of them (or face the animal welfare police), yet you can't expect your pets to work for you.

I'm sure there are some advantages to the scheme, like having them neutered, but I wouldn't loose sight of the disadvantages.

Why not? It used to be that animals earned their keep - 100 years ago pets for the sake of simple affection was unheard of. Heck, our cats have to earn living here by catching pests.

And why would I stop reproduction?

Just got around to translating this:
'Will eat grapes, do not spit grape skin. Do not eat grapes to spit grape skin.'
Most hilarious thing I've read all week.

Edit: Huh, I guess this computer can't reproduce the chinese symbols.

Yes, but we're not living 100 years ago. I don't think it's likely you can turn back time in this respect; there's only ever going forward, and you'd have to make a pretty wide circle to get back where you started.
Besides, not all kept animals qualify as pets; a horse kept for riding isn't a pet, a dog kept for hunting isn't a pet. Actually, I think that "for the sake of affection" is a rather important aspect of petness. Pets are for petting, it's pretty much implied by the name.
But of course the definition of words is not that relevant; as architect of the future it's more important what you intend to do than under what name. So, rather than what I'd call pets, you intend to make men work animals? Suddenly the future looks much less attractive. And here I was looking forward to belly-rubs and long walks on the beach; and frisbeeing, can't forget the frisbeeing.

I wasn't suggesting having them all neutered, but surely you'll admit some, many even, should not be allowed to reproduce and foul the genepool any further.
And they'd tend to be better behaved without surges of testosterone.

pets can work for you

oxen, horses, mules, and donkeys do just fine without complaints

and i'm sure it wouldn't be such a good idea to have all these neutered :ermm: we do want to continue the human race, after all (don't we? ^o) )

at least this way we can regulate their whereabouts without having to worry, right? :ninja:

we'll just taser 'em if they misbehave...give 'em those shock collars ;)

They're also not pets.

dictionary.com

pet
1. any domesticated or tamed animal that is kept as a companion and cared for affectionately.
2. a person especially cherished or indulged; favorite: He was the teacher's pet.
3. a thing particularly cherished.

Look, you can make up any rules you want, but if you're calling something a "pet", then you can't very well blame me for taking that to mean what it commonly means as described in a dictionary.
