i'm not sure how constant the properties of the universe are but they might be absolute forever or they might not be but they are certainly more constant than a chunk of metal or the sun |

dogs smelling time is a concept i really like i have probably talked about it before but the line is from the manga umwelt where the doctor spends some time talking about what the world is like from a dog's perspective and he talks about how the dog can smell everything that happened in the past wherever it is and takes that information to construct an internal constant sensation of "when this area looks like" which is probably not like anything human's can do. Something that people commonly said in school and stuff was "dog's don't have a sense of time" and that they don't know the difference between a day passing and a year passing. This seems pretty clearly false because when you come back from the store a dog is happy to see you but when you come back from the war it loses it, but the idea is there. The ability to estimate how much time has passed is interesting, but it doesn't necessarily correlate directly with what the passage of time feels like. Often, even without mechanical assistance, we can tell that something like several hour has passed, but can express that it feels as though not much time has passed, which indicates a seperation in our ability to sense time and some subjective experience of "how long that time felt". In a book i read a girl always knew how much time had passed with a high degree of accuracy because she lived in a world without a sun and was taught from birth to count her breaths, which she could do even while asleep. She subconsciously did so and always knew how many times she had breathed since a given event happened. |

i feel like animals probably have a sense of time and seasons passing same as we do i mean animals hibernate or migrate in winter and have specific incubation periods and mating seasons and urrything tho all that might b unrelated to how they perceive the passing of time i've experienced that feeling of "losing track of time" before but not recently b/c i have the computer clock thing always on my screen |

most animals and even many things which are not animals have the ability to "know" how much time has passed to some capacity, but they might have a very different feeling of "the passage of time". |

humans might not experience time the same way as other humans quantifying "how someone experiences time" is extremely difficult to begin with, for the same reasons we discussed while talking about aphantasia |

it's pretty bizarre to think about, how we all kinda relate to other ppl like they are the same as us but rlly everyone is different and experiences things completely differently |
