So first of all, 1 million dollars doesnt represent 1 million hours because nobody makes 1 dollar an hour. Sure theres sweatshop workers but they are basically slaves and if you used your money to try and free them the factory workers wouldnt let them anyway. Also lets pretend that there arent starving people otherwise youd have to consider having money period is immoral and we arent really arguing that right now. So the money value of an hour varys from country to state to job to person. Lets just say its something super low like 5. So now 1 million dollars is only 200k hours or work, which is only 22.8 years, not even 1 life killed. Secondly living off interest does not take from other lives it takes from your own future. Thirdly, you cant really even live off the interest from 1 million dollars alone because most banks only offer .1% a year, and usually less. You'd run out in about 15 years with minimal purchases if you live alone.you could invest the money into your retirement, continue working for a while the retire at like 40 thoigh. And spend like 200k to buy a super nice house in Texas. Other places you're probably screwed because houses are expensive |

Saving lives is probably just as immoral as killing people. |

an hour of life isn't an hour of work. I was working off the phrase "the price to save a life is $3000", but I don't know exactly what that refers to. The amount of money that correlates to an hour of work is determined by the money's purchasing power and not by any sort of wage used to earn the money. $1 million to 1 million hours of work was just a random example though, I don't know how what the conversion would actually look like, a million dollars is probably worth a lot less than a million hours of work, I'd guess. 1 million dollars was also a random number. |

What you're really arguing js that you should spend all your time and money on saving lives and that one should live a minimalist lifestyle. So buddhism. |

i'm ultimately saying that people suffer because of mismanagement of work and that in a capitalist society mismanagement of work is represented by mismanagement of money. I don't really have any grand point, its just an observation. |
