Brief Summary of Historical Events: On June the 23rd 2017 the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland invoked article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, signifying the withdrawal of a Member State from the European Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements. The nation has taken back control, where its parliament is now sovereign and in compliance with the doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty and its supreme court is once again supreme. Fast forward 2 years the UK has negotiated a trade deal and exited the European Union. The Republic of Ireland subsequently held a referendum on their membership of the European Union. Once again Euroscepticism prevailed and they invoked article 50 on the 23rd June 2020. 2 years later, officially detached from this political union the Republic of Ireland merged with Great Britain and Northern Ireland forming what we now recognise as The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. An old nation once again reunited in the modern scheme of things is now seeking to explore new opportunities across the globe now as it is no longer chained to the shackles of Brussels. The establishment of new global and international relations is very much welcomed. Edited by UK Dependencies, Sep 12 2016, 07:52 AM.

Case Ruling: After a landmark court case, IRA dissidents Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness have each been sentenced to 35 years in prison for terrorism related charges. Furthermore the case set a landmark legal precedent, with one of the ramifications being that Sinn Fein has now been put on UK list of terrorist organisations. The UK also encourages other nations to do so. Edited by UK Dependencies, Sep 12 2016, 03:46 PM.
