This topic is your go-to guide for everything related to character applications, classes & races. Included is a list of all races and classes that are 'Free', those that are 'Restricted' by application, others are 'Restricted (Development Required)' Which require application and cannot be the start point for a character and finally 'Unplayable' Which under normal circumstances are unavailable to players beyond the confines of a storyline where controlled NPCs might be of a normally unplayable class or race.
The Point of Applications
- We acknowledge there are a wide variety of classes and races in the WarCraft Universe, that while playing WoW you will encounter but are normally unplayable, as a role-playing community, players have the opportunity to play characters that are normally unplayable races & classes.
- This process exists for the purpose of ensuring players have a satisfactory comprehension of the class or race they are attempting to write, critique will be provided and discussed by Staff and Community. God-modding, power-gaming and meta-gaming can be a problem, and we have restricted classes based on their potential for abuse. The Staff have a responsibility to mitigate the risk of of occurrences of abuse and manage them when arising as necessary, it's also part of the Staff's responsibility to maintain quality and fun in the RP environment and the application process supplements this.
- Here on Lazarus the traditional concept of 'Character Development' is recognized, this is to say, a character develops and will progressively accumulate more experience with the more stories, plots and general role-play they participate in. Character development isn't exclusively an indication of skill or talent, but rather experience and contribution to story.
- We understand players have characters initially created on other WarCraft role-playing servers they've become attached to and would like to continue storytelling with these particular characters, Lazarus accommodates for these characters with transfer applications. Characters directly 'Imported' from other servers require a full character application for review by the staff. Under the 'Applying For:' section of the application, put 'Transfer'
The Application Process
- The Application Process has 4 different categories of races & classes, these four different categories are: Free, Restricted, Restricted (Development), and finally Unplayable.
- 'Free' doesn't require an application, all the base races & classes are free to play so you can't go wrong if you just create a character and role-play. If your role-play is found to breach the rules, a member of staff, usually a World Manager will investigate and intervene. If a character isn't properly using the abilities, attributes and characteristics of their race or class, this can result in the staff providing an informal caution or recording an infringement and revoking your ability to play this race/class and similar race or class in accordance with the Punishment Policy.
- 'Restricted' races & classes have complexity and considerable skill, talent or influence. The degree to which these factors are true varies, and so scrutiny of an application will be directly proportional to the amount of influence, power or skill the character would possess. Some classes have few or no ways to develop into are listed as 'Restricted' only. We won't expect development with these characters. To play as one of these, you need to go through the application process and be approved. Once approved, you may go out and roleplay the character. However, restricted races and classes can still be revoked, to the discretion of the staff as appropriate disciplinary action for breaching the rules.
- Classes that are restricted and require development often succeed another class, for example, Archmage succeeds Mage, as it represents a Mage who has developed to the point where they have accumulated mastery of several Magic Schools. The Development is done prior to the lodging of an application, not before. Only once the character is believed by the player to have reached a point where they can adopt the new class, should an application be submitted.
- Unplayable classes & races aren't available for player use. The decision to make classes & races unplayable is influenced by a variety of issues: The lore significance of the class/race, the prevalence of the class/race and finally the skill, talents and power that the class/race wields.
A summary of what is listed above: If your class or race is on the free list, go ahead and play them now rather than read the rest. Those who choose free races or classes need to ensure they play them properly: You will be given a maximum of one informal caution to the Staff's discretion before ending up going through the discipline policy. Restricted races and classes need an application (below) to prove you know how to play them, and those that require development have a category of their own. If you are wanting to play a forbidden race or class, please reconsider.
Character Application Rules
- Players attempting to derail a topic by going off topic, posting content unrelated to the application i.e arguements, lore discussion on the class/race, will be asked to cease posting on the application. Any further derailing will result in the recording of an infraction and perhaps suspension posting power for a day, to the staff's discretion.
- We can't add every single race in Warcraft's universe onto the list, but we expect you to have a modicum of common sense. A murloc won't require an application but on the other end of the scale Titan watchers are unplayable, if you're ever not certain about the playability of a race don't hesitate to query a staff member.
- There is a cool down of one week from the point a character application has been denied, and this includes you archiving or asking it to be moved into denied. You are asked to withhold new applications for 2 weeks if it is approved from the point it has been moved into approved.
Application Template
Your application is in public for at least of three days before a final verdict is made. During this time both staff and players are able to provide feedback, and staff can either support or vote against the application, normal apps require a score of two to be eligible for approval and negative two to be denied after three days. Any classes or races marked with an *asterisk require a score of three. You can ask for the admins to respond after seven days if the application is still pending.

- If an asterisk (*) is marked against a restricted race or class, they are powerful and a higher standard is expected from them, as it will need an extra staff members approval before it is accepted.

- Aristocracy (Military) -You are expected to elaborate your character's military background in detail and explain why they deserve the rank you are applying for. If you have been earning the rank through Roleplay, a recommendation for promotion from a ranking Officer will help with this. Any rank considered a 'officer' requires an Application.
- Aristocracy (Political) -The character must be an upstanding and active member of the relevant faction. Development is required for more authoritative positions within the respective character's political sphere. We expect to see an explanation of how and why your character reached the position you are applying for.
- Blademaster
- 2nd Generation Death Knight* -0/5. The character must be either a Death Knight prior to the Wrath of the Lich King story, or come into possession with a Vampiric Runeblade and suffered the slow corruptive process that leads to undeath. The latter case will require development and a satisfactory explanation as to how your character came to possess the Vampiric Runeblade.
- Archdruid* -Archdruids are powerful and highly respected individuals within the druidic community, your character must have developed sufficiently throughout their journeys.
- Archmage* -Archmage's are incredibly powerful mages, gaining thorough knowledge of at least three different schools of magic.
