Lazarus-RP Server Rules
By registering for an forum or ingame account you agree to adhere to the following rules.
General Roleplaying:
- We do not tolerate power-gaming, meta-gaming or god-modding, no exceptions. Your character cannot bend or break the internal logic of the WarCraft setting nor have access to resources or information your character would not normally be able to access.
- We do not intend to police tone or mood, but you are expected to approach roleplay with a mature and respectful attitude, you are playing to entertain other people as much as you are entertaining yourself, be mindful that your actions are persistant.
- You must understand that you will be held accountable for the actions of your characters, unless otherwise stated or agreed upon what you do IC will persist and consequences either positive or negative will not go away.
- Erotic Roleplay (ERP), while not prohibited must be in a private channel once it progresses beyond heavy petting. Sexual encounters are considered IC and must adhere to the other rules, if it does not, please take it to another medium.
- Retconning encounters generally requires the agreement of the majority of participants, consult a GM before confirming a retcon, especially if it might be considered a major retcon.
Lore:
- The server follows the canon timeline, all factions and territories remain unchanged. Permanent changes to any major characters or locations will not be permitted.
- When referring to lore, the newest sources are typically the most valid unless otherwise stated, if you are unsure, consult a GM. Clarifications or elaborations may be discussed on the forums and must be approved by GMsm as such
- footnotes or brief mentions in sources are generally not to be taken for granted (e.g. in-game flavour text).
- Use common sense, if you believe that people are likey to express disapproval towards a concept, idea or part of a source, discuss it on the forums or with staff.
WoW RPG:
- The RPG has long since been declared non-canon, as such lore that is subject matter in any subsequent source is more valid, but we do not entirely disregard the RPG.
- Understand that the rules and mechanics of the RPG do not mean anything without their tabletop context, and by extension are prohibited from use within RP on this server.
- The use of abstract jargon used to describe game mechanics or abilities is strongly frowned upon both in OOC and IC.
- Instant gratification spells such as Finger, Hand and Ring of Death, Wish and Miracle are prohibited.
- If you use the RPG to strengthen your understanding of your characters abilities, please make sure that you actually understand 3.5e D&D/WoW RPG before doing so and please attempt to compellingly translate/adapt the RPG material you reference.
- Anything referred to in the appendices is strictly non-canon and thus prohibited from use or reference.
Scale:
- Azeroth in-game is much smaller than it would be in reality, consider this when navigating areas or travelling from one point to another.
- Day to day, time generally passes in real time, with 1 day being equal to 1 day, however on a scale of years time will pass in accordance to the WarCraft timeline, staff will likely make an announcement when a year has passed.
- Time-warping is an unfortunate reality, be mindful of it when performing certain actions;
- Combat and similar actions may take seconds IC but minutes or hours OOC.
- You are not expected to perform actions such as research or resource gathering in real time, one day OOC time can count for upto 10 days IC time.
- It is preferred however that you RP pregnancies in real-time, as characters having children should be taken seriously.
Characters:
- While not every character concept has to be stern & serious, we expect that players to approach characterization with responsibility and maturity. Remember that you are part of a community that takes pride in storytelling, be mindful that other people will have to interact with your character.
- If you choose to take inspiration from another setting, please go to the lengths to adapt that inspiration to WarCraft. Absurd powers and abilities that do not match with the context of the setting will not be permitted.
- Do not directly link your character, with any lore character, exceptions might be made for minor lore characters, contact a GM before doing so.
- You are permitted to use other models to accurately portray your character, within reason. Contact a GM before using the model of any lore character.
Items:
- As long as it corresponds with your character and their possessions, you are allowed to use any item in the game.
- All models of significant lore weapons are prohibited from use, this includes for example Gorehowl, Frostmourne and Ashbringer.
- Joke items found throughout the game are generally not considered to be IC unless otherwise stated.
Development:
- Characters will naturally become more skilled in their chosen profession as they gain experience, you are expected to be responsible for the appropriate portrayal of your character's level of skill and their limitations.
- We encourage people to carry over their favourite characters as long as they properly adapt into canonical WarCraft lore and fit the tone of our server, heavily developed characters from other servers may require application depending on their race or class, please check the appropriate character application resources. If for any reason you are unsure, consult a GM.
- With proper time, dedication and recognition your character may generally be considered to be as famed as a lore character, but under no circumstances will they ever be able to surpass a major lore character.
- Character development isn't simply about accumulating combat prowess or magical loot, consider that you are part of a living world, and that your goals and accomplishments may be otherwise recognised.
- A player may command up to five NPCs without an application, as long as those NPCs are within reason. Amassing forces takes time and resources and you are expected to be considerate of this.
Character Death
- Your character's actions will have consequences, and even fatal consequences here on Lazarus and Sometimes it's unavoidable for a character as a result of a situation they find themselves in.
Limitations and other mentions:

- Behaviour and Activities that are considered unlawful will result in immediate and permanent suspension from the server.
