The Children of Hellastor. The Children of Hellastor is an ancient religion, it's origins established at approximately 780 B.I (Before King Issac's Prayer). The Religion spawned itself from a collective group who believed twelve gods debated the everyday lives of individuals. The Gods and Goddesses each had their own major cities which pilgrimages to often occurred. Each God had it's own design and purpose. The religion is still strong in the realm of Lerignon, even after many years of conflict with the Faith of One. Prayer to the Children of Hellastor is a usual ritual involving the sacrifice of a good, the more value the stronger the prayer. It was not uncommon for royalty to even surrender precious items of the nobility. One princess, according to legend, even promised her virginity to the Goddess Cepdione if she could grant her a marriage of love, not politics. Each God and Goddess has their own form and story. Each also has a month where they are the most celebrated, and to not celebrate at least one day is considered an insult. Today the religion still holds some power throughout Lerignon. Though in the South and Savoie it's presence isn't felt as strong, and in Asdrae has disappeared all together, the North and East of Lerignon still have strong followers of the Children of Hellastor. All twelve Holy Sites however have been lost, due to wars, famine or collapse. The Gods of the Children of Hellastor. Hellastor. Hellastor is the father of the twelve Gods of the Hellastorian faith. Pictures depict him as a man of enormous strength and stamina, regularly seen in the company of men and women alike. He eventually fathered eleven of the twelve children of the religion. A prophet then spelled doom for Hellastor, who had caused misery to his city. He promised that Hellastor's power would end when he slept with any of his children. As such Hellastor banished them from being near his presence. However, Dulnir, his son, wanted revenge on behalf of his fellow brothers and sisters. Dulnir managed to seduce Hellastor whilst in disguise as a male prostitute, and shortly after Hellastor died in combat. The twelve Children of Hellastor then declared their father a tyrant, promising his return would mean the end of the realm. Dulnir. Dulnir is the main God of the religion, and is often depicted as a man with a plant growing out of his left hand. Dulnir took control of the Earth from Hellastor after he managed to have the latter killed. Dulnir is often mocked by his fathers friends for letting his father seduce him, even though it was the other way around, and as such believes the only way to remove this is to have affairs. He is often depicted as turning into a bull, with horns specifically designed to hook up womens dresses. It is believed that should he not be satisfied enough, or he will cause harvests to fail in anger. Otla. Otla is the main Goddess of the religion. Portrayed as a Motherly figure with a bowl of salt water, she became all the childrens adoptive mother in their banishment. She eventually married Dulnir in order to prove his masculinity. Unfortunately he still feels ashamed at what he had to do. As such, she is aware of his affairs all the time, but tries her best to keep it hidden. However, at times she has broken down because she feels that he has failed her. Her tears are often believed to be what form the seas from her breakdowns, and her crying is the result of floods. Ciohr. Ciohr is the God of the Sky, depicted as a chariot racer with dust across his face. His symbol is the sundial, which he also uses for a shield and as the wheels of his chariot. He has another sundial which he turns, causing the time to change. Ciohr is known to be a frequent traveler of the roads of Lerignon, and can be seen as a bright shining chariot riding past. He will invite tavern wenches into his quarters supposedly for his entertainment, but will not touch virgins, claiming that is for Cepdione to decide. It is said that he grants people the right to become shooting stars when they die, always willing to fly for their friends and family to let them know they've lived a good life. Inphine. Inphine is the Goddess of Duty, Lucky and Faith. She is depicted as wearing a helmet, a shield with an owl and a spear. Her stance is always to look ahead, making her the main god of Guards across the realm. Her statue is often found in guardhouses and towers as a result. It is believed that she grants men the right to bed her should they do their job well until death This is the only time her husband allows it. Koxohr. Koxohr is the God of War and Infamy. Koxohr is married to Inphine, and is depicted to be a regulary soldier in armour. Koxohr is the head of the Hellastor Guard, a group of 21 people who protect against Hellastor supporters and prevent mortals from finding the God's resting place. Koxohr is also known for being the most chaste of the gods, with the legend dictating his only love is Inphine. He does allow brave fallen soldiers and guards to sleep with Inphine, but will fight anyone otherwise until they suffer a painful miserable death again, forcing them back into the mortal world to gain the right. Lista Lista is the Goddess of the Underworld, Beauty and Sin. Often depicted as an attractive women offering herself to others. Originally not a Goddess but a lover of Dulnir, she was gang-raped and had her throat slit by jealous mortals. She was reborn as a Goddess by Dulnir, and struck her revenge by castrating the men, leaving them to die, then feeding their endowments to their wives by passing them off as rare sausages. Dulnir punished her by making her Goddess of the Underworld. Non-caring of gender, she sleeps with both men and women alike. Men who are undeserving are castrated and left to bleed forever, whilst women are forced to suffer the constant pain of giving birth. Udis. Udis is the God of Messengers and Peace. Often depicted as a man riding a horse, he is reported to never dismount unless there is reason to rest, or to seduce women along the road. Often he and Ciohr are regularly challenging one another to sleep with women along their travels. It is believed that when Hellastor is born, Udis will discover who it is and warn the parents to drown their child in salt water so that Hellastor will not return. Should he return, his reign will bring destruction to all. Kuaris. Kuaris is the God of Justice, but also the Goddess of Vengeance. Is depicted with having the face, stomach and arms of a man, but the anatomy, legs and hair of a woman. Kuaris was originally a woman who had a wild and indecent affair with a mortal man. However, the mortal man eventually left Kuaris, unaware of her true power, and fell in genuine love with another woman, later marrying her and having a child. Kuaris killed the man in a jealous fit, then proceeded to snap the neck of the baby child and force the wife into a brothel, where she later died from poor treatment. The other gods were so horrified they gave her the curse of being half man and half woman, creating Justice and Vengeance. It is believed this story created the term "Hell hath known no fury like a woman scorned". Cepdione. Cepdione is the Goddess of Chastity, Marriage and Motherhood. She is often portrayed as an adolescent girl with a child suckling from her right breast. Marriage ceremonies are conducted under her gaze, where she decide the fate of the couple. Before her exile from Hellastor's Kingdom, she managed to rescue 21 children from a family who Hellastor planned on killing. These 21 men and women form the Hellastor Guard, the guard which protects the home of the Gods and will defend against Hellastor supporters. Aher. Aher is the God of Commerce and Knowledge. The smartest of all the Gods. He is often shown with Silver Hair and a Golden Beard, and dressed in rich colours. Aher is often seen in Universities of old and in areas of high thinking. He is also found at ports and trade posts. However, he is also found in brothels, as he is believed to of started the oldest profession in the world.
