Rodimus let himself fall into his chair on the bridge, pointedly ignoring Ultra Magnus as the other mech tried to get him to look over a data pad with some report or another on it. After the latest delay, Rodimus was looking forward to getting the Lost Light back on track to continue the quest to find the Knights of Cybertron. The map he'd subconsciously carved onto his desk over the course of months had been carefully studied, coordinates and directions figured, and now they could finally get back in route. With Froid and Sunder handled, and everyone who'd been attacked put right again, all they needed to do now was get moving again. "So, how are doing?" Rodimus asked, shifting to swing his leg over one arm of his chair and leaning with his elbow propped on the other. "Give me an update on our course." |

Magnus' gaze panned up slowly from the datapad he was glancing at, which he had been in fact reading to Rodimus at the time, or at least been trying to. He was used to it by now, but he didn't know if that was a good or bad thing yet. "We have been following the directions of the map, and so far there have been no delays or issues...except...well," he frowned, a tad uncertain. "I'm not entirely sure if all these star systems, at least I believe they are star systems" he mumbled the latter softly to himself "are entirely accurate to any known Cybertronian map. We could attempt to cross reference with organic maps to reconcile any errors, but that would take some time." And he know how much the Captain disliked things taking time. |

Indeed, the moment Magnus said that it would take time to cross-reference the maps, Rodimus' face fell. No, he really didn't care for things taking time, and it was evident in how he jumped from idea to idea, left the ship at times to indulge himself, and often took shortcuts when the sensible route, as many would call it, would be safer. Frowning at the other mech, he sat upright, leg swinging back down from the arm of the chair as he straightened. "Considering how hard it is to get our hands on organic maps?" Rodimus stood up and moved to where his desk sat, the map seeming to taunt him now for how difficult it was to match to their known system map. Navigating their way to Cyberutopia had been easier when Rodimus was able to get directions from the Matrix. "Where's the nearest organic system friendly to us?" |

Magnus noted Rodimus' displeasure upon hearing the news, and frowned a fraction more than he normally does. "A good question." He stated flatly as he began to scroll through his datapad for information. "It appears as though the Nebulan system would be the closest to us." Though they weren't exactly...friendly towards Cybertronians, not after the rocky history the two races had shared in the past, especially considering his own involvement. Magnus struggled to find a more placating way to express the bleakness of a mission to Nebulos. "We would need to tread carefully, however. The Nebulons have quite a bit of animosity towards Cybertronians, specifically towards Decepticons, and, well...myself." |

Rodimus leaned against the desk, one hand flat on the surface and his hip pressed against the edge of the desk. He looked down at the carvings that he'd made, so absently scratched into the surface, and gave another frown. What good were the carvings if they couldn't follow them? So much for his hand-drawn map to Cyberutopia if they couldn't read it in its entirety. He half-listened to what Magnus said about Nebulos, catching only the name of the system for a moment, then - his processor letting the information repeat - turned towards Magnus, one brow-ridge raised. "Wait, what did you do?" |

Magnus was hoping Rodimus wouldn't have caught the last bit about himself, but he wouldn't be that lucky. "I, err...I was on a mission to stop Scorponok and a Nebulon named Mo Zarak from conspiring together to use Cybertronian technology to create transformable organics, specifically the Nebulons themselves." He managed to frown more than he normally does. "It was a dangerous situation." |

Well, that was rather disappointing, Rodimus thought. He'd kind of hoped the reason the Nebulons didn't much like Magnus was for something more exciting than just the enforcer doing his job; maybe something involving the Wreckers. Rodimus let his disappointment slide and focused on the rest of the situation. "So if we want to get the Nebulons to work with us and get us a map, we go in with holomatter forms," he suggested. "Send someone with good people skills and not you, since they're probably holding a grudge. Quick mission, in and out, get the map, don't let on we're Cybertronian, right?" |

Magnus managed to sense Rodimus' disappointment, and he wasn't sure if he felt elated or a bit annoyed by the idea that something like stopping a Nebulon scientist from creating Cybertronian-organic hybrids wasn't 'exciting' enough for his captain. "If we went with holomatter avatars, they might not know who I would be." Though the very idea of the entire thing sent warning signals all across his processor. There was a very good chance that something would go wrong, somehow, in some way. "Who could we send?" |

Rodimus turned his attention back to the map, mulling over how to get the map from the Nebulons that might help make his map clearer. His thoughts muddled, wanting to get the map, wanting to skip Nebulos and just wing it - it'd worked so far during this quest - wanting to find the Knights and fulfill the quest he'd set out with a ship full of bots to do, but also wanting to take all the time in the universe to do it. He thought on who to send to get the map. "Nautica, maybe," he replied after a moment. "She likes maps, doesn't she?" Rodimus didn't know Nautica as well as he knew others on the ship, but he'd chosen her for Team Rodimus and knew a few things about her - her love of reading and maps came to mind. That information in mind, he figured she could probably get her hands on the map they needed. |

"Nautica," Magnus echoed thoughtfully, not even having thought of using her as an option. "Yes, I believe she does." He glanced at his data pad, pulling up her crew log to glance over it before setting it back down. He should take the time to get to know her more, to assess her strengths and weaknesses. This was something he had done in the beginning of the quest, but he'd gotten a bit behind on all that with the recent bouts of hectic adventures and shenanigans. "We'll need to ask her, I can do so, if you'd like, unless you're feeling conversational when it comes to the topics of maps." Somehow he doubted Rodimus would pay as much attention as he should if such a subject were to ever come up around him. ((I'm not dead yet, just...bleh)) |

"See? Perfect." Rodimus gave a casual grin. "No one will suspect a thing from her. She'll just be one of those map nerds looking for a new chart for a collection. She'll get in, get what we need, we'll pick her up and we'll be on our way. Easy!" Of course, that was being optimistic. Something always seemed to happen that made things every bit not as easy as they should be. Something inevitably came along and threw a wrench into the plan. Rodimus made light of such situations most of the time, since they'd always managed to overcome whatever the universe threw at them. Someone had to keep an upbeat, casual attitude on this ship, otherwise things got too serious too quickly. He hated it when things got too serious - it usually led to someone getting hurt or, Primus forbid, killed and Rodimus had too many deaths under his belt from this quest. "Yeaaah, no, you talk to her," Rodimus told Magnus. He shook his head. "I like her and all, but if we get talking about maps, she'll end up teaching me things I don't need to know about maps." |

"But there is no such thing as knowing too much about maps." He let his tone just carry enough of an upbeat that wouldn't allow his statement to be confused with anything other than a jest, a very, very little one. He didn't smile though, no, this wasn't enough for a smile. "Don't worry, I'll speak with her and try to determine where we can go without venturing into Nebulon territory." That specific idea wasn't appealing, it sounded much better for Magnus to spend his time speaking with Nautica and getting a chance to really assess her character. |

"Maybe not for you," Rodimus shot back, unable to help grinning at Magnus' jest. Yeah, it was a small attempt at banter, but considering what Magnus had been like at the beginning of this quest, Rodimus was rather proud of the change in the other mech. The Ultra Magnus that had come on board as his lieutenant when the Lost Light had first launched would never have indulged in a bit of light-sparked teasing. Rodimus pushed himself away from his old desk - he'd already gotten a new one for his quarters, so he didn't ruin the map with his constant etchings - and moved to Magnus, raising his hand to pat the taller mech's shoulder. "Sounds like a plan. Anything else I need to know or am I allowed to go down and shoot some asteroids?" |
