What, exactly, could they possibly have in common? Apart from an unfortunate knack for ending up in the same places - first the vents and now here. Ravage considered himself lucky that he hadn't smacked into Skids on previous prowls through the ship's more hidden areas. "Well, I'm truly grateful noble Autobots like you are around to be the stopping point for every feud and grudge," he said, his tone more grumpy than truly sharp. "Let me know when you've figured out just what common ground we have."

And that was the easy part to respond to. "Perhaps you lot should learn a few things from him, too," he pointed out, tail lashing and not quite up to examining just how quickly he leapt to Megatron's defence. "The war's over. But that doesn't mean that your side was right about everything. You can forget that pretty easily, when you're just surrounded by other Autobots." Once again, he'd said more than he'd planned to - he had to shut himself up before he made that a habit. A chatty spy was a dead spy, even in what passed for peacetime.

"But if you're feeling up to moralizing, I might as well leave."

Skids frowned, sitting up and turning towards Ravage. "I never said my side was right about everything. Both sides had something right, otherwise the war wouldn't have lasted this long. No one follows a leader or cause they don't believe is right."

War was nasty business, but at the core, there was a belief - or set of beliefs - that gave each side cause to fight. It was pretty clear to Skids that Ravage still believed in the Decepticon cause and the beliefs it upheld; otherwise, Skids was sure, the quadruped would either have joined Megatron in sporting the Autobot symbol or joined the NAILs on Cybertron.

"All of us had it wrong in the end, though," Skids mused, more to himself than to Ravage. He'd heard Drift say the same thing before the other mech had been exiled from the ship early into the quest. While both sides had had their beliefs, they'd all been wrong. Their war, no matter how it began or how it had continued, had cost far too much in the end. Many of them had seen it too late and Skids, for all he was a fast learner by his outlier nature, was still only beginning to understand it. Exventing, he pushed himself from the edge of the platform, standing upright. "Maybe you're right and I have a lot to learn. Maybe Megatron could teach me a thing or two."

Skids raised his servos over his head, stretching his struts and letting joints creak. "If I find something we have in common, I owe you some of Swerve's best engex."

"You didn't say it," he agreed, voice low and cool. "And I agree that we both believe in our respective goals. But you Autobots have a way of acting, like you're all so completely wrapped up in how right you are that you can't hear anything else." To be fair, Skids was hardly the worst of those. Some of them reeked of smug faith that they were better, so entrenched in superiority that the only option was to fight them.

Decepticons had done terrible things. He'd been there to witness the aftermath of the DJD's slaughter of the alternate ship. Ravage couldn't deny that - and even without it, he'd seen his share of callous actions, malice just because - but he refused to define himself by those cruelties alone. Decepticons were more than that. He'd always had faith.

That faith had wavered recently - the war's aftermath had been difficult to bear, Megatron's betrayal even more so - but he always found his footing in the end.

He paused as Skids made another overture of actually listening to him, not merely being compassionately patronizing and while he didn't exvent in turn, his posture softened. "Fine. That's a deal I can hold you to." If he did find something they shared, at least he'd get some engex out of it. That seemed worth the aggravation. "Until then - if you can think of anything." With that as a parting shot, he turned and padded away, activating his deflectors as he did so. He hadn't achieved the peace of mind he'd come out here for, but he'd acquired something worthy of mulling over, anyways.
