"Lottie I most certainly share the concern with Tailgate and I extremely agree that we DO need them back in the bay. We just gotta take little steps. Tailgate's only going to fight us the more we force them in. Let them breathe a bit, we can get scan as we pass them in the hall and such. Well, I know I'll be scanning Tailgate subtly at every passing chance. But we'll call them back in In a week or so to get a spark signature and a physical. Repeat this weekly and look for a change. I don't think Tailgate will cooperate for much else right now. And ordinarily I'd magnetize them to the berth but I have no idea if this sudden burst of about is somehow tied with stress."

But, enough about Tailgate. It was crashcart time. Aid pushed the first cart over, beaming as he looked at the tiny little cart.

"I love our crash carts. They're so handy and it's almost a shAme we haven't te chance to really utilize them. Any time there's a scene it's easy to rush out with one in front, practically plows your way through the halls. But not just that..."

He opened the cart, revealing just how stocked up it was on goods. Though, as aid suspected, the energon present in the carts had been sitting for a long long while.

She made a bit of a face at the comments about Tailgate. Lottie really was concerned about the whole situation. All right--so perhaps there was some scientific curiosity involved (it was hard not to have). But, particularly with how things had been going aboard the LL, it was probably only a matter of time before poor Tailgate had a near-death experience.

Well, a near-death experience not caused by something happening outside of himself, anyway. Thankfully, though, seeing exactly how out of date the crash carts' energon supply was ended up being a perfect distraction.

"Oh...maybe we should have that swapped out. That's probably some top grade explosives energon by this point..."

"Man imagine rolling this down the halls and trying to give it to a patient? We'd honestly probably poison them rather than help them."

He laughed, not that the thought was funny, but more or less as a speech filler. Carefully he removed the older cubes, giving Lottie lots of room to stack some new ones.

Curiously, First Aid lifted his mask ever so slightly, just enough to take a sip from one of those cubes he just pulled outta the cart. His visor flickered, followed by a sputtering sound. Absolutely disgusting. Medical grade energon was already sour and nobody's ideal choice for a drink, but yeeeesh, that was nasty.

"E-eugh..."

It was all he could say as he lowered what hadnt spilled out of the cube onto his desk, using one hand to support himself while the other lowered his mask into place. Gross gross gross gross gross.

She made sure they wouldn't have any accidents--keeping the cubes well away from anything that could fall on or into them. Just in case.

"...why did you drink that?! Even Whirl wouldn't drink that!"

"A-ah, I was curious!? I mean, i thought it, I dunno what I thought!? Maybe that it would be flat!? Augh, auuugh, Lottie don't drink that!"

Aid reached into the cart, pulling out one of the cubes Lottie had just stocked of fresh medical grade. Quickly he pulled off his mask, too occupied to feel shy about showing his face, and took a sip. Making a sour face he leaked back up at Lottie.

"Don't make my mistake."

She was trying very hard not to make any sort of fuss about the fact that she hadn't even known he'd had a face for sure under that mask.

...trying very hard.

"Why would I drink that?!" She scooted the to-be-disposed energon a little further away from him. "Outdated medical energon bad. Very bad."

It sounded a little like she was the voice of experience here. But, well, she had just come from medical school. Chances were dares were made. And taken, perhaps!

"Ew...make sure you wash that out well. Don't explode your face accidentally..."

Lacking a firm jawline like most of the other bots on ship, Aid's face was far more, well, delicate. A bit rounded than a heart shaped point at the chin, but it was far from anything firm or defining. At first glance, had one only seen his face, he'd be mistaken to be femme. Even the piece on his chin was far smaller, simply doing its job of holding the mask in place.

His chest plates were warm with embarrassment, his mask within reach on the desk as his lips curled around the cube of medical grade. Hoping another large sip would rid the foul taste. Even in distress, everything about the medic's facial features screamed soft.

"It won't explode my face, if anything I-I'll need to pump out my tanks if I can't make it stop flipping...."

Flip flop, flip flop. He wasn't all too sure that he would be able to ease his stomach. Maybe trying to force a purge would be best, but far from ideal. Already suffering, Aid put one servo over his mouth as he shifted to lie on the floor.

"L-Lottie, let me lie here a few minutes? Please? And don't tell anyone about this..."

He had only wanted to see just how stale it has become. Sure, he knew that sometimes if it was all that expired that it could make one ill, but, it was too late now. He really just wasn't thinking straight when he had made the decision was all.

Lottie had nearly made an embarrassing noise--and just barely managed to hold it in. Whatever was eating at him aside, First Aid wouldn't (willingly) harm a...actually, she couldn't think of something harmless enough to use as an example. His face matched. How was that even possible?

Exclamations, however, were quickly stifled.

"Oh, Aid..." She headed to one of the cabinets--a nap probably wouldn't clear this up. "Please don't actually have poisoned yourself. I was kind of hoping for a calm day."

Lottie was trying to be cheerful, but she really didn't have to have to deal with their CMO being out of commission until they could detox him.

Making a soft groan, Aid immediately turned off his optics and let the bend of his elbow fill the space over top of them. The pressure of his arm helped keep him steady, as he concentrated to think of the best way to tackle the problem.

It was just easier to tackle when he wasn't distracted by a near constant sloshing.

"Lottie, do me a favor. Throw all that stale med grade out. Like right now."

He hiccuped, grimacing at the taste that entered his mouth. A mix of stale, sour and bitter, a combination that wasn't often well. Lying down had at least helped, though it seemed like he was only prolonging the inevitable need to purge his tanks. After a few more minutes of looking pathetic on the floor, aid slowly stood back up, using the desk for support.

Optics flashed on, one hand covering his mouth. Careful not to move all too fast, First Aid gestured 'one minute' to Lottie before entering the private bathroom the medbay had. It would least be best to be nearby a sink when he'd feel that final churn of discomfort. Provoking himself to purge could actually force complications, it was best to not suppress but to let it happen on his own.

He'd never live this one down.

She saw their expired energon out personally. Just in case. Aid was a grounded enough sort of bot and, well, if he'd randomly decided to take a swig, then it was only a matter of time before someone less stable decided to try the same thing. Naturally--in attempts to dispose of hazardous waste--it took a little while for her to return.

In the spirit of privacy, she didn't barge in on him--but she did knock.

"Aid? Maybe you should do a split shift today--go back to your hab and sleep a little," Lottie prompted. "...and maybe see Rung if you can."

There was no delicate way to say that someone in your life should seek psychiatric help. She wasn't even going to try to be delicate.

"You still just seem a little...I don't know. A little scattered. And, you know, accidentally poisoning yourself..."

After a bit of a sobering purge, Aid had stepped out of the bathroom. All washed up and mask back in place, while Lotyie had some points there were just some that he hadn't wanted to hear-- reasonably so.

"I don't need Rung, Lottie. I need Ratchet. And Ratchet is off having a good ol' time ya know. He's not, not dealing with the weight of this. I know you care, I know I don't care for myself the best I could, but I don't want to talk with Rung."

Last talk with Rung went poorly. The thought made his optics flash, Em field pulled back tightly.

"I can't afford to let myself fall idle. I'll have nothing to do with myself."

Velocity sighed, but tried not to sound overly exasperated.

"I'm not asking you to be idle, Aid--I'm asking you just to take a couple of hours to put your head on straight. Just...recharge for a bit. Take a break at Swerve's. Something. Because yeah--sure--you get curious, but there's a difference between that and...whatever just happened, here."

She crossed her arms to keep herself from gesturing wildly. She was worried, naturally, and the wild wavy arms came out when she was worried--Nautica got touchy, she got...dramatic hand-gesture-y.

While Aid's visit dimmed, acknowledging that he had heard Lottie, he was still absolutely stubborn about not taking it easy. He itched, he felt trapped, the tension could easily be cut with a knife. Still, while she did have her points, totally reasonable ones at that, Aid decided instead to pave across the room and sit back down in front of the crash cart. Quietly, one by one he pulled the instruments from the cart, wiping them down, then putting them back. If he were to do it for every item, he'd be there all evening.

Finally after a few moments he pipped up.

"Sorry for being defensive. You're right, I have a lot going on and I should rest. I just know there's no fruits for that labor and even if I do shut my eyes I won't feel any better. Thank you for caring about me, Lottie, but I'm going to be the most difficult patient on this ship unless Ratchet himself walks through that door and gives me a run for my money."

Velocity considered him for a moment before heading over to the cart herself and resting one hand on his shoulder. She was still a little annoyed, but she took a deep breath through her vents.

It was unfair on Aid to get annoyed in the face of...whatever was going on. Whatever it may be, it was making someone who--as far as she knew--was calm in the face of everything on the ship exploding, or turning inside out, or whatever it usually did. Just not for this. And she wasn't, at least, going to press him now. Not when he was like this.

Leaning against the cart, she gave his shoulder a squeeze before letting go--letting him have a little space in case he needed the protective bubble.

"You just do what you have to do, okay?"

"Thank you Lottie, I appreciate it."

He went silent for a bit, frustrated and upset with the whole situation. Lottie was right here to comfort him, but for some reason his body wouldn't relax even with her care. Not even his own care, as seldom as that ever happened. Still, as stubborn as he was, he wouldn't be a tired from forever.

Maybe he was just being tired and grumpy to fill in for Ratchet. Someone's gotta do it, right?

"Lottie, if we get the chance next shore leave, if we end up on a planet that's friendly to us I'm getting you this one dessert I tried once." He'd leave out that he was intolerant to the metal flavoring inside, Lottie wouldn't let him near the stuff if he did. "Ambulon and I once got, they're like these cups and the energon is prepared to be like... Like a cream? But a little thicker? Not like gel but, it twists and comes up? You can eat it with a spoon, they're really sweet and brightly colored."

He was trying to explain the consistency of yogurt without the actual knowledge of yogurt even existing. Arguably a true solid or liquid, though liquid is more fitting despite its consistency.
