So much panic, so little time!
|
Lottie didn't drink. All right, so maybe it was more that she didn't drink much. In fact, the drink she had in front of her at her little booth was one of the weakest Swerve served. At the same time, she probably could have done with something on the stronger side. Venting--and then catching up with--First Aid had been nice. They'd parted ways some time ago, after all, and then it was nice to not be the only medical officer on a ship full of bots who thought charging a serial killer all on their lonesome was a great idea. Among other things. In fact, she was very much trying to ignore Whirl's antics just in case they involved things that made her worry that someone was going to stop in missing an optic or minus fingers. It had happened before! She sighed heavily, then downed a good deal of her drink--some orange-ish concoction--and then wondered if she deserved something from one of the special bottles behind the bar. After all, she hadn't been prepared to handle any of what the Vis and the Lost Light had thrown at her. Neither had medical school, really--or, if it had, it had been in some bizarre way she hadn't expected. No one had really prepared for how much imagination it took to be a medical officer. Either that, or everyone from Cybertron proper was just...probably in good need of a long talk with Rung! One more drink, and she'd finished her hardly-there beverage, then went back to the bar for a refill--albeit with something a bit stronger to help her still jangling nerves. |

As Nautica entered the bar, she spotted her teal friend seated at a booth away from the commotion of the crowded bar. She hadn't known Lotty to be a heavy drinker, but at the current pace she was downing her drink you'd think she was related to Trailcutter. Nautica mingled as she made her way to the bar where she placed her order. She then made her way over to Velocity and noticed the pained look on her face. "Everything alright?" She asked as she took her seat. "You look like you spent a little too much time in the medibay." |

Pained was definitely one way to describe it. The arrival of company, however, at least got her to slow down--she wasn't going to feel very well in the morning if she would have kept going. "Oh...hey." Lottie rubbed at her face for a moment or two--trying to brush the troubles of earlier that day away. "That's...that's one way to put it, yeah. I think there's more going on now that Aid's back than there was before." Well, between gestalt issues, Tailgate, ongoing repairs on Cyclonus...there was a lot. |

"Yeah, it has been... Busy lately." She was saying as Ten arrived and placed her drink on the table. "There always seems to be some new disaster going on here." She said between sips of her beverage, "I was shaken when I first came aboard, but I can't imagine the time you are having. I mean not only do you have to take the usual insanity, you have to deal with the aftermath as well! I'm just glad to see you holding up as well as you are." |

Velocity gave a nervous laugh. "Well...I did manage on the Vis. Somehow." There was a very long pause. "And, you know, when you take your medical exam they have all these--I dunno--hypothetical questions? They're just there to test your ingenuity. I really didn't expect to be living those questions. Or, you know, that I'd learn on the fly how to reassemble an entire person after they've been turned inside out..." |

"Ah... Yes, that. " She looked down at her drink and let out a sigh. "There are a lot of things that we are not prepared for out here Lotty... It's hard to adjust to this kind of life I don't know how the others do it. They've known nothing but fighting for so long, they've gotten used to these horrible things..." She felt awkward talking about her friends like they were some kind of monsters. Nautica had gotten to know the crew well over the course of her stay on the Lost Light. She knew that most of the mechs on board were trying to move past this war and get on with their life, but she had come to the realization that this war was what defined her race. She tried to push the thought out of her head by changing the subject. "So... How has work been in the medibay?" |

There was a definite gap--they'd been spared on Caminus. Sheltered, even, in their own way. Velocity was just learning this, really--and adjusting accordingly. Thankfully, she didn't seem to see any issue with their rather war-scarred crew. Outside of the alarming frequency with which they visited the med bay. She could probably have done with a little less of that in their CMO's absence. Either way, she was glad to change the subject. "Um--good. Good, I guess. It'll be easier with Aid back. I can't read the last CMO's shorthand at all; it's like reading in code. And then everybody's been so adventure-y lately. I feel like he's better equipped for that than I am so far." The 'so far' was rather promising! Velocity was stressed, but not deterred. |

"Well hopefully the crew will settle down now that we are back on track to find the Knights. I'm glad you're getting along with first aid, I've only talked to him a few times thankfully." Velocity gave her a confused look. " Oh! I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that I've been in good health lately." She chuckled, " They seem nice enough, I just haven't had a conversation with them outside of the medibay, you'll have to formally introduce me sometime." |

She at least got a chuckle out of Velocity with that one. "No, no--it's fine. I'm just...still a little frazzled. I spent a good bit of earlier venting with him, so--still more venting. And I'm glad you haven't had to stop by. Everyone else has been, like, turned inside out. Or been shot through of holes. Or, you know, gained super strength." A pause. "Okay, if you gained super strength that probably wouldn't be so bad. But--still. Aid should be off work soon. Maybe he'll stop by?" Edited by Catawampus, 1 Apr 2016, 06:50 AM.

Helloooooo Nurse

“Maybe who will stop by? A secret Conjunx you haven’t shared to us?” He was teasing of course, while he had his mask up and covering his face, First Aid’s humor with his own joke was bright in his optics. Carefully, Aid scooted himself to the barstool by Lottie, giving Nautica a short little wave as well. “Sorry, wouldn’t had been so long, really, but I got a little caught up trying to match up some of Ratchet’s notes. I swear, there has to be a better way to decode his crypts. I’m about up to here” He gestured above his head slightly “with trying to translate, I may just have to see if Percy can decode this mess for us.” Aid laughed, shifting his attention to flagging swerve over and ordering his first round for the evening. Like mentor, like student. By that, Aid was starting the night out with a tall energex. Sure. He could have tried to be cool and made a really bad play on words about how his “PHD” stood for “pretty hard drinking”, but even First Aid realized that would sound more dorky coming from him than if, say, Ratchet had said it. Still, he couldn’t help but lick his lips behind the mask as his drink was placed before him. Lowering his mask juuuust enough that a straw could fit, the CMO could care less if the others would judge him for his drinking preferences. He needed the security of having his mask closed off, it was not something he planned on budging on. Maybe after his 4th drink or so he’d loosen up enough to consider. “So, what did I miss while I was in handwriting hell? I know you two weren’t talking about boys or energon cookies this whole time, if I were to guess…” He paused, mocking a deep state of thought. “I’d guess maybe work? Nautica I heard you had a lot of recent repairs going on with the damage from Tailgate tossing the Rodpod like a balloon. And I known Lottie probably has told you we have been up to our helms with work.” The peppy attitude First Aid was known for was brighter than it had been any other day since returning from his trip. It was a good feeling, like things were starting to finally fall back into place in life. Sure. Crippling stress, Gestalt aches, lots of unspoken issues, but for whatever unknown reason Aid felt fine. He chalked it up to karma, lots of hard work rewarding him with a good night out with some fellow crewmates. |

Lottie, on her part, seemed surprised he was in as good of a mood as he was. Pleasantly surprised--but surprised, regardless. There was a bit of a gap between the First Aid having minor outbursts at work and the First Aid being, well, back more toward his normal self right now. She nursed (ha!) her own drink thoughtfully in response--going a bit slower than he was; a hangover was not something she wanted to deal with tomorrow morning at work. Not with this crew, anyway! "Oh yes--I made sure to give her a little scrap for not warning me about everyone's, ah, adventures beforehand," she replied with a chuckle. |

First aid was not holding back. By the time he had heard Lottie speaking he was already half done with his drink. Then again, this really wasn't abnormal. Ratchet drank pretty heavily, actually taught Aid some tips and tricks to not get high over, or as hung over, along with immediate ways to sober up. Then again, these were all tricks only a medic would really know, since they all had the knowledge of how their bodies functioned. With that under his belt, Aid had no reason to hold back or slow down. "Lottie, you gotta take it easy on Nautica. She only got here a little bit before you, I don't think anyone had exploded yet for her to know about. A lot of the super crazy stuff didn't even happen while you guys were on board. Heck, I even missed some of that.." Nope. He wasn't gonna let himself get sad. Taking another hefty sip, glass empty, he gestured 2 fingers to swerve. "Anyways, I feel like you aren't giving yourself enough credit Lottie. Nautica would agree that you're doing a fine job, I'm sure of it." He peaked over at the other mech, smiling at her through his optics. He had started humming after that, seeing as his next round of drinks had arrived. He pulled one of the two glasses close and replaced his empty one with its spot. "Do either of you want anything to drink? Seriously, I'll treat for a round." |

"That would be great. I mean after all, a drink tastes better if its free! I'm glad I can finally get to know you, and it's nice to know Lotty has someone else to keep an optic on her. Can't have her getting into too much trouble without me!" She flagged down ten and asked for something a little stronger. " Make sure it has one of those curly straws too." She figured if she was here to relax she might as well have some fun. "So I hear you went to cyberton for a while. How was it? You have any stories to share?" |

"Lottie and I gotta keep a set of optics out for each other. I mean. Lottie has you otherwise to pester when I'm not around, but still. It's our job to try and keep our optics out on everyone, especially each other." He gave Lottie a teasing smile, tho his words stood firm. It was an honest statement; if they didn't look out for each other nobody else would. It was the medics job to keep everyone safe and sound, not the other way around. "Well, Lottie if you decide to order something not juice do flag swerve or ten over, it's my treat." And then Nautica asked about his trip, which left him finishing his second drink in a rush and starting strong on his third. "It's a bit of a long story. Do you want the bare bones or actual details?" |

So much panic, so little time!

She drained the second of her not-very intoxicating drinks. Unlike First Aid, she was just here for a nightcap rather than, well, trying to numb herself. Lottie gave her immediate superior an unreadable look. Look still in place, she gestured for another one of her weaker drinks (though no curly straw like her sorority member!). "Oh yeah--do tell. With all of the details, Aid." There was a little bit of an edge to the comment, but it wasn't necessarily cold. She was playing it close to spark, but she was still a little suspicious of him after all the dodging in their conversation earlier. Edited by Catawampus, 2 Apr 2016, 08:58 PM.
