Before he began story telling he made eye contact with swerve, which was enough to tell him that First Aid was ready for his third round. It was a habit he had picked up from Ratchet, tho gosh did First Aid wish that it had been him with the unlimited bar tab that Ratchet had. Still, he had plenty of shanix, more than he could ever hope to spend, or so it felt at this point. All the pay from Delphi, all the pay from the lost light, all the time spent on his trip. It had not gone without reward. But money couldn't buy back what he lost. He took another sip, getting prepared to start. "Okay. Stop me if you have any questions, it'll get a bit messy if you aren't paying attention." He paused, trying to figure just how much about mirage he could speak about. Patient Doctor confidentiality and all. He could glaze it over. "Mirage was a member of the crew. Not too sure if you guys had met him, he was a bit of an older bot. Very fixated in his ways and way of living. Very old fashioned. Elegant parties, elegant drinks, he had a very high standard of living. I'm not sure if you were around for it but he had once opened a bar on the ship, that's long since closed, much to swerve's happiness. "Anyways, Mirage had been one of my patients as well. I cannot go fully into the details, tho I guess that can't stop Lottie from snooping around the files in the medbay, but he was very ill. A decision was made to bring him back home to Cybertron. He had experienced damage internally, however what scared us was his visions he was seeing of war. "Me, being his doctor, was chosen to escort him along with a few other fellow crew mates for protection. Blades, Hot Spot, Streetwise, and Groove. They all are a lovely bunch, especially when put together. Hot Spot and Blades had poked their noses where they don't belong on multiple occasions, but that was before you two got on board. Though you may have seen them at that one dance party. Imagine if you had danced with them and not even realized it? "You have to laugh at the irony though. We were all dubbed the title "protectobots" because, seriously, did you look at the list of bots they chose? An ambulance, a fire truck, a cop car, and two other emergency vehicles. All of us had skills involving enforcement and emergency transportation." He laughed a bit, taking another firm sip of his drink. Swerve soon put down his next two glasses, thanking the mech softly. "Are there any questions before I continue? It only gets longer from here on out. This point we are maybe just reaching cybertron, not even dealing with what was happening just yet. It's crazy; Nautica, Lottie, you'd never believe some of the stuff I saw there... Maybe it's because I was cooped up in Delphi for so long but... I hope to never see anything like that again." He pushed his three empty glasses to the side, pulling in one of the fuller ones. Rubbing a digit around the rim, Aid sighed softly, and yet his visor still held its bright glow. His brothers always made him feel warm, happy. He wanted to bask in that sensation for just a little while. |

"I think we got the gist of it," Lottie prompted. She, on the other hand, seemed to be bent on staying sober for this story! |

Getting the okay from at least one of the two bots, Aid took a quick sip from his glass before gathering where he had left off. He could go on for days about each of his brothers, they all had such a past to them and so much life. It's part of what lead to First Aid becoming the baby of the group. "Well when we were on the trip Mirage kept having those visions of fire and destruction. It was concerning from a physicians standpoint to say the least. But nothing could prepare us for when we landed. This whole ordeal was going on between Cybertron and Caminus. Apparently Devastator, with prowl at the head, was the cause of the destruction." "When we arrived it was not a good time, as there's no good times in war and battle but... Superion was down and Optimus met us to use the space bridge... Devastator had already pulled Superion to Caminus. We Followed a lot of bots through the bridge, among them was Starscream. They created a distraction long enough to use the enigma of combination to heal Superion, but even the Camien delegates knew Superion on their own weren't enough. "Desperate times called for desperate measures. All us protectobots got drafted to be the next combiner team on the scene via Starscream's desperate choosing. None of us were opposed, but it's very fair to say we were not really aware what came along with being a combiner team. We were fresh to this sort of thing, new gestalt bonds are a little powerful to say the least. It's like.." First Aid wracked his mind trying to think of a way to explain. A soft 'hmm' followed by another heavy sip. Yeah. He was starting to feel his drinks, a bit warm and a soft overcharged sensation. Nothing he didn't welcome. "Imagine like... Being able to sense and feel those within your bond. We were all linked, synchronized if you will. All our thoughts, all our emotions, even apart it was over stimulating. Scared, uncertain, excited; all these feelings in one large mixing pot between us. While I was the quietest to the others within the bond, I felt my brothers strongly. It's hard to explain being in a gestalt without being in one. I'm sure the aerialbots and Prowl could agree with that. "We had been down for a bit, but when we rose up for battle we weren't ourselves. I was no longer First Aid, but I was part of Defensor. It was touch and go for awhile, we were clumsy and new. We hadn't had preparation or training like Superion had. But we had the upper hand over Devastator. Not only was it 2 against 1, but we learned faster than Devastator or Superion had. I can say for sure if it was because of our bond or just onlining during a battle, but we knocked Devastator out of of formation. But that wasn't the end either. Sure, Devestator was taken down and Superion was back up and functioning, there was still a lot more work to get done." Aid knew he was skipping a lot of details, but they were getting the bulk. They didn't need to know about how blades had been rocketed into Devestator's back to knock them apart, nor the fear that washed over him at the risky move. Nor the fires and destruction that covered the battlefield that was once Caminus. Another sip was needed, though First Aid stared down into the glass as he paused his story. |

It was probably best they were spared the details about Caminus. Lottie had been stressed enough as it was. She didn't need to hear about a combiner wreaking havoc back at home. ...she preferred to think of Caminus untouched, thank you very much! "Wait, wait, wait..." Something had occurred to you. "Wait. You can be drafted into a combiner team? You can just make combiners?" Lottie was only just out of medical school proper...they didn't have these shenanigans back on Caminus. Or hadn't, anyway, until reconnecting to Cybertron! |

"It was an emergency. Usually combiners aren't drafted but emergencies happen. There have been all sorts of combiner emergencies to maintain the gestalt. Superion was made to be a combiner from the beginning. I believe Wheeljack was behind it, similar to his dinobots. While Prowl being with Devastator was far from planned, Scrapper was the initial head of Devastator and well, when he was gone they needed emergency replacement. Which is why Prowl was up there." It made Aid really think. It really must have been an emergency for Prowl to take that position. Gestalt crews needed to be close, they needed to bond. First Aid really couldn't grasp how Prowl could hold them together if he kept fighting to be desperate from the rest of his team. "Us protectobots we're literally just the wrong place at the wrong time and before we knew it Starscream had used the enigma to make us Defensor. But as stated, our bond was still really fresh and powerful. For me to be here on the lost light right now? Its actually got my spark in a bit of a dull ache. Like when you cut yourself and it throbs as it mends to heal. Nothing I can't overlook, but it aches in my chest. The damage we took as Defensor was pretty tough too. Heavy lifting for me should be kept to a minimum unless I'm an emergence, if I'm being 100% with you." He'd leave out Ambulon's combiner team. That was something that was really sick and messed up. An entire cold constructed artificial combiner team. A decepticon experiment, he mused. There was no enigma to seal their gestalt bond, which is most likely why the project failed. It was a little too late for First Aid to sympasize with Ambulon's gestalt aches. Though Ambulon hadn't seemed to be too bothered by the loss of his crew, not like Aid was right now. He had bonded, unplanned, but now he ached to be so far apart. Hopefully they'd come home soon. |

"Wow" was all Nautica could force out. She had always been fascinated with gestalt technology. Though she had never seen a full gestalt in person she found the whole concept very Intriguing. "Such a drastic change to your body and mind must have been quite jarring. Not to be rude, but I'm surprised you made it through the process as well as you did!" Nautica had recently read some studies about these behemoths after stumbling upon them in the lost light's records library. She was practically filled to the brim with questions for Aid but felt it would make him uncomfortable if she tried to pry him for information on such a personal experience. |

"Oh! No offense taken, nautica. If I'm to be honest with you-- I'm surprised myself. Really, with my brief knowledge of gestalts that doesn't stem from my first hand experience, it's an all or nothing system. I'm not one for gambling as such, only because I don't like to lose. So in the tragic case one is lost, the rest of the combiner is likely to fail and fall apart too. I'm not saying like its a band that breaks up, I mean it in that grim sense of if one of us dies, we are all likely to follow suit." Aid shifted, taking another sip as he looked back and forth between the two. "I'm open to any and all questions, but I have the right to pass anything that makes me really uncomfortable. Nows your chance to shoot." |

"Alright then!" she said finishing off the last of her second drink. Her mind was full of questions. All she had to do now was figure out which one to ask first. She pondered for a short time, tapping her chin. A surprised look shot across her face as she had her "eureka!" Moment. "So... From what I've read when a gestalt is fully formed its intelligence is reduced greatly in favor of strength. So how did being together effect your intelligence personally? Were there any lasting side effects on your psyche? |

Velocity's mouth was all but hanging open. She'd expected something had been up with her CMO but, well, this was something far beyond any logical hypothesis. This was something a little far beyond logic for her at the moment when all was said and done. "...is that why you were so tense before?" She was keeping it close to spark, but there was concern in her EM field whether she wanted it to show or not. |

“It can be a little taxing, yeah, you’d be right with that assumption.” A little was an understatement. With his teammates out of reach, his spark constantly pulsed, trying to reach out for the comfort of the rest of his gestalt. With nothing tugging back, or even giving him any sort of indication they were getting closer, it was quite taxing. Not to mention a tad risky on his body. Nothing impossible, not for Aid anyways, but there was a reason that Prowl had a team of constructicons that followed him around at arms length. Nobody wanted to be separated, as it hurt a lot. Mentally and physically. “Yeah, I get a little tensed up. It’s just something I need to adjust with. But I assure you, when Hot Spot and the others get back, you’d all get along so much… I hope we have another dance soon. I know I hadn’t been close to them for our Earth Dance party, but I heard Groove and Blades really like to dance. I’m hoping to maybe join them next time around.” It was better to not focus on what he didn’t have, shift gears to what was hopefully in store for the future. And, you know, avoid the topic of Caminus in flames. “But if you did have more direct gestalt questions, I’d love to take a crack and answer them more directly. As for being fully combined, it was best described as… A mental melting pot. All five consciouses mixing to make one. Hot Spot is usually forefront and in control. But if any of us have quick thinking that would benefit the situation, we can shift over. It’s a bit more efficient, as if someone freezes up one of us can take the reins.” |

"Huh..." Velocity considered, rubbing her jaw thoughtfully. Judging from the reaction, she didn't know anything about what had happened back home. But it was probably to her benefit at the moment. "...and you know what's coming next, right," she warned, waggling her glass at him. "You are going to need a super-special physical after this. If we're subjecting Tailgate to regular physicals to make sure his spark doesn't do anything weird, it's only fair you get the same treatment. And, you know...you kind of need to let me know if there's anything special that needs done. Like...gestalts were...completely theoretical for me during school." |
