Wheel Chair Races (don't tell Magnus); Open Thread

So much panic, so little time!
Velocity had the look of someone doing physics equations in her head; she intended to try and win this--the issue was more finding a partner (hopefully not someone who would toss her right through the hull of the ship like a sad, blue torpedo).

"...I bet we could get Skids in on this," she considered not facetiously at all.

It wouldn't be correct to say that things had been tense for her since arriving. A little nerve-wracking, yes, but she would neither admit it nor let it show if she could help it. But she had been holding her field close--obsessively so--since after the first of the adventures as part of the crew. Velocity needed to blow off steam--badly. Even having one of her sorority around to vent to didn't help with this! But maybe doing something silly for once would be just what the doctor (ha!) ordered.

“That is, if he remembers to show up. Okay, that sounded way funnier in my head. Please don’t tell him I made that joke, I’d really like for Skids not to hate me.”

First Aid laughed a little nervously before reaching out and giving Lottie a pat on the shoulder.

“You know, I’m really glad that you are on board for a little medic racing here in the hall. Sure, Ultra Magnus will have me filling out more accident reports than I’ll know what to do with, but it will be worth the risk. I know I wasn’t around for a lot of the time you’ve been on the ship, and I would really like to be a better CMO than that. I’d, I’d like to try and make the rest of your time on the ship a more positive experience. One memory about demolition derby at a time.”

Velocity chuckled, one arm around her CMO's shoulders companionably (one did not simply spend a lot of time around Nautica without some of the whole physical contact thing rubbing off).

"You have been perfectly fine, trust me," she reassured as they went. "And you'll be even fine-er if you help me flush the vents in search of him."

Someone clearly intended to win at least one race through the power of math.

"Don't be too sure he's in the vents, you might forget to check the elevators as well. Honestly have no idea what he's thinking. I guess he's not thinking."

Another bad tasting joke, but it was at least more of a tame statement this time around.

"I don't mind helping but I'm NOT getting stuck in the vents searching for someone who probably doesn't even really remember me. That and, uh, I will probably not fit. I'm a bit clunky. So I'm going to assume that you have officially decided on skids then?"

First aid already had a mech in mind, it was just a matter of tracking them down.

"He knows physics better than me so...yes. If we can convince him," she considered as they headed off. "Maybe check with Ten?"

...though Ten would definitely be someone useful for a team, as well. Provided he was pushing.

"I think Ten is under tight leash. Last I saw Swerve's bar was still pretty bumping with Mirage's own place closed you know. It has been keeping all of them busy, even Swerve. I had been hoping to ask him a question earlier about energon goodies but... Ah, that isn't important. Skids."

Taking one fisted servo, he tapped it to the palm of the opposing.

"I don't know skids well enough to try and guess outside of the elevators and the vents. But I can't fit in them, not with the bulk on my back. Or my shoulders. No way. So who is small enough we can send a calling?"

Velocity looked a little blank while she mentally riffled through the crew roster--most of whom were either "average" builds or, well, basically walking tanks.

"Well, let's see. You can't fit. I can't fit." She gave a nearby grate a sideways look. "At least I don't think so. The minis are the obvious choice, but--well--that seems kind of stereotypical and mean. Rung's skinny enough. I don't think there are too many that we can ask without getting into trouble. Potentially."

“I think we could ask Swerve if he’d wanna go in there. I think he’d be up for the challenge, so long as he’s not already busy setting up. I know he’s a little, uh, square but it would be better than Rewind. Rewind doesn’t really have too much clearance with his shoulders. I’d wonder the same about Tailgate, though Tailgate has more of an issue with their hips than shoulders. How on earth does Skids even fit in there? It, ugh, it’s frustrating.”

Aid covered his face with one servo, weighing his options.

“How about before we start getting minibots stuck in the vents, have you got his private comm? If not it should be in his medical file. Would you want to try and comm him? This way we can get an actual answer before we get poor Swerve stuck trying to find him.”

She was trying very hard not to show it, but the mental image of an army of minicons stuck in the ventilation system was...kind of funny. Not quite as funny when the realization that she'd be one of the crew cutting into the vents to free said minis hit...but it was still kind of funny. Velocity tried very hard to brush that from her mind.

"Sure, sure--I'll send a comm. Anyone else while we're at it? I'm kind of blanking on who else would want to be involved..."

And who wouldn't tattle on them to Magnus.

((OOC: I'll send a message to Swerve after work, btw, and maybe throw something up on the discussions forum to see who wants funny shenanigans))

“Well, I already have who I’m interested in picked out. I can give them a shout and hope for the best. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be on board with the whole thing, but worst come to worst I can always find someone else. I’m not all too sure who’d I’d ask at that point.”

To Aid’s quick thinking, nothing really compared with asking Rodimus to be his partner in a race. He was a speedster, for one, and even if he didn’t win, it would ideally just be nice to spend time with Rodimus. It sucked, feeling like he had to make these convoluted situations in order for them to be in public together with anyone suspecting anything. But it would also give them an excuse to grab a drink at Swerve’s afterwards, win or lose.

Next choice…? Next choice, perhaps Cyclonus… He could try and pull some strings with Tailgate? But, nevertheless, Rodimus was top pick for now.

“I’d rather not have to deal with Ultra Magnus filing accident reports as we get Swerve slicked up and pulled out of a vent. But, I’m not too sure how else we will manage to find Skids if he is up in those vents. It’s not like we can go around banging on them till we strike gold, right?”

Velocity took that thought and ran with it, gazing off into the mid distance while she ran whatever calculations in her head. It was particularly telling when her eyes started tracing the largely exposed ventilation system that ran down the hall's ceiling.

"Well...now that you mention it..."
