Swerve's was on the slow shift, it was way too late at night to be getting a drink. Ah, but he was restless. With the recent drop in motivation for work he was finding it harder and harder to tire himself out. It was a balance between lack of motivation and unused creativity. It gave him too much time to think, and too much thinking made it impossible to recharge. "Hey." Brainstorm waved his servo at Swerve to alert the bartender of his presence, taking a seat at the bar with a withdrawn sigh. He considered his options for a moment. He paused in careful consideration. "Something light please." While he enjoyed stumbling back to his hab just as much as the next mech, he could almost feel the headache he'd had after that night he'd gone for a drink with First Aid. Brainstorm folded his arms on the surface of the bar, his left pede idly swinging. The engineer glanced back at the other occupants. He was hoping a friend or two would be present for some idle chatter until he was tuckered out enough to try recharging. Well, the chattiest chatter was right in front of him. "So, how's it going?" Brainstorm's attention was back on the minibot behind the counter. Conversation starters weren't really his forte. A lot of things were decidedly not his forte recently. He'd been having trouble focusing, he blamed it on the lack of a big project, and he was sure that was the most of it. That, and his mind was constantly racing these days. Again, it was probably nothing, too much time on his hands left him with too much time to think. It was probably nothing- he was almost positive it was nothing. Almost. |

As the night went on, the number of bots in the bar slowly dwindled. It was always quiet in the last couple hours. The few who were still in the bar weren't particularly troublemakers themselves, so Swerve didn't worry about them much as he stopped paying attention to them. He hummed quietly to himself as he began the nightly routine of cleaning the glasses and putting them away. The hustle and bustle of the bar during the busy hours was nice, lots of opportunities to socialize and get to know people. Swerve knew that a vast majority of those he talked to only cared about the drinks, but hey, friendly chatter is friendly chatter. After a long day, though, the slower hours were nice too. Being that it was one of those slower hours, Swerve noticed almost right away as Brainstorm had walked into the bar. He glanced down at the scientist's hands quickly. No briefcase, good. Swerve had let Ten off of work once the number of bar-goers had dropped, so there currently wasn't anyone at the door to really enforce the posted rules. Hearing Brainstorm's request for a drink, Swerve nodded and flashed a smile as he set down the glass he'd been cleaning to grab a different one off the shelf behind him. A light drink. Looks like someone wasn't planning on getting drunk. Not yet, at least. The minibot focused on mixing the drink, and once it was done he set the glass over in front of Brainstorm. "Oh, you know, it's going," He chuckled a bit and gave a grin. "Haven't had anymore elevator mishaps, and that's always good." Not many bots usually came to the bar this late. If they did, it was usually because they couldn't sleep, or they had something on their mind. Swerve was curious which it was for the scientist. Maybe Brainstorm was thinking up a new experiment of some kind. He did look somewhat distracted by something. "Anyway, what's up with you?" |

"Thinking. Well, thinking myself right into the ground." Really, what was the problem? Why was it frustrating him so much? Why couldn't he focus in his work? Brainstorm set his mask aside, taking a sip of the drink. He sighed, it was just right. Nothing to heavy, and it was sweet. Damn his sweet tooth, oh, but the sweet ones were so much better than the bitter ones. "It's a-" Brainstorm struggled to explain his unusual mood, pursing his lip in thought. "A- a good bad feeling?" Distracting was what it was, whatever it was. "It's not something I experience often." Brainstorm further elaborated. "You know what I mean?" Maybe- well maybe Swerve wouldn't, he was confusing himself. This emotion was confusing, and being confused was also confusing, and trying to explain being confused about his confusing feelings was even more confusing. Brainstorm tipped back his drink with a narrowed frown. |

Ah, so it was that he had something on his mind. Now Swerve just had to find out what it was. Brainstorm himself didn't seem to really know. No matter, it couldn't be too hard, Swerve was usually pretty good at finding stuff out. "A good bad feeling. Heh, you're not giving me much to work with here," Swerve tapped his fingers on the counter, trying to narrow down the possibilities. More than a couple came to mind. "Does something ever happen to set off the feeling? Talking to anybody, stuff like that?" It was almost funny to think of the possibility of Brainstorm having a crush on someone and not being able to realize it. Wasn't the whole time travel fiasco because he had a crush on someone? Swerve had actually never got all the details about that, but he wasn't about to ask. The minibot could be a bit socially awkward at times but he wasn't stupid. |

"Well! I can't really give you anything to work with if I have no clue myself!" Brainstorm huffed. Really, he could hardly put his finger on when he'd even started feeling this way. It was awful and distracting. "Uh, well I mean? Nothing extreme has happened recently?" Nothing bad enough to sway his mood anyway, and it was definitely a bad mood. Or maybe a bad feeling putting him in a bad mood? "I mean, work has been putting me in a mood." Brainstorm frowned at the thought, the frown pulling into something closely resembling a scowl when he thought about the joint assignments. He was hardly ever in a good mood after working with his co-workers. It wasn't their fault, Nautica was patient, Perceptor was irritated. He tried to do his work like he always had, it just wasn't quality enough and he knew it. "Maybe..." Brainstorm's frown pulled into something smaller. "Maybe it's science?" Primus forbid he ever suck at science. What was he saying? That was a ridiculous thought. "Psh, haha never. But it is work related." Okay, so, aside from sciencey related work things, what else could it be? Was it the color of the wall of his lab that was distracting him? Was there a lose vent that was making a barely audible sound that his sensor wings could subtly pick up on that he hadn't even noticed? Was another Brainstorm on an alternate timeline trying to contact him with stellar new technology so he could finally speak with his true equivalent? Eh, probably not. But hey, there's an idea. |

The minibot couldn't help but chuckle a bit when science was suggested as a possible cause. He was sure that the day someone like Brainstorm ever got sick of science would be the day scraplets suddenly adopted non-metal diets. "So we've narrowed it down to something work related. That's a start, at least," Swerve gave a grin as he folded his arms on the counter. "Co-worker issues? Experiments not going well? Too many fumes in the lab? All the mad science finally just getting to your brain?" Swerve knew he shouldn't really poke fun, Brainstorm did seem genuinely distressed over this, but half the time he really didn't think things through before they just left his mouth. A bad habit that had gotten him in some bad situations on more than one occasion. It wasn't like he really meant to, but once words get out, they're out. It's not like he could delete them like a typed document, so more often than not he just rolled with it and dealt with the damage as it came. Still, he was really curious about what could possibly be bothering the scientist. |

Was it his coworkers? Just because his mood changed when he was around them didn't mean it was because of them. Primus, maybe it was the fumes. Brainstorm's attention was back on Swerve with the mention of a word he knew but didn't hear much. Brain. Ugh, what a gross word for a processor. The sound of it was so stilted, like- like alien profanity. It was all so stunted and unfinished sounding. "Experiments are going terrible. There's- well there's sort of been coworker issues I- I guess." It's not really issues with the coworkers, it's more about them. They're the cause just not purposely on their part. "It's harder to concentrate on group projects. I'm always getting lost in thought." The kind of lost in thought that didn't mix well with multitasking. He had to be missing something, he had to be, but he never missed anything. What could get past him without any detection? He was sure he could try to guess, but it wouldn't have that same satisfaction that came with actually solving the problem. |

"Coworkers making you get lost in thought, huh," Swerve was already getting a good idea of what Brainstorm's problem might be, but he had to be sure before saying anything out loud. "Any bot in particular that it happens around?" The options were few, and just from that knowledge alone Swerve was almost certain of who the culprit was, and why. The minibot couldn't help but grin just thinking about it. Brainstorm having a crush and not even being able to realize it. As tempting as it was to tell him outright, Swerve decided that helping him come to the conclusion by himself was the better route. "Any nice fuzzy warm feelings that come along with the whole 'lost in thought' thing?" Okay, so being subtle wasn't Swerve's strong suit, but at least he was giving Brainstorm the chance to think about it. |
