Jitter was still trying to figure out what to do now. After waking up on the ship with no idea how long he'd been in stasis, no sign of his companions anywhere, and knowing absolutely no one on the ship, he'd asked if he could join the crew. Maybe they'd run into Lacuna and Trencadis somewhere along the way to...wherever this ship was headed. He'd been a little too anxious to ask. He wanted to know where his friends were, not where this ship was going. The captain had welcomed Jitter on board and left him to his own devices not long ago. After a bit of asking around, Jitter found out there was a bar on the ship and asked how to get there. Someone had given him directions and soon enough, the little archivist had found his way and was stepping inside. And immediately met with the doorman, a giant golden mechanoid with an intimidating face, but oddly non-intimidating, colorful paintjob. Jitter didn't know what to do, faced with the mech and just froze up a little, finding himself staring. "Um." |

So much panic, so little time!
|
With her shift starting up soonish and her drinking buddies since gone back to work, or to their habs to recharge, Velocity didn't have much to do with herself outside of nurse her drink, and maybe read a little of what she'd picked up on the last supply run. On her way back to the bar, though, she noticed a somewhat familiar face just sort of...staring, really. It took her a moment to put two and two together--or, really, to notice the direction of the stare. Ten had been surprisingly normal to her, with everything considered, she hadn't really thought about how intimidating he'd seem to someone else new--particularly newbies of such a small-ish stature. "Hey--Jitter, right?" she offered, ambling up with her drink in one hand. She hadn't been attending when he'd come on board, but she'd seen First Aid's report...but she figured that wasn't particularly fitting small talk. "Are you settling in okay?" |

Already skittish from being the new bot on board and faced with a mech easily a few times his own size, Jitter was caught by surprise when someone else spoke to him, calling him by name. He gave a start and turned to the other, lifting his head to look up at her, taking in her appearance and trying to match her to the descriptions of the crew he'd picked up while speaking to the captain and a couple others. "Y-yeah, I'm Jitter," he replied, a little pathetically. It had been a long time since he'd really talked to anyone besides his friends, so socializing was definitely not his strong suit. He ducked under the doorman's hand as the giant mech went to greet another patron. Jitter watched him for a moment before turning back to the other bot. "Ah, I'm still finding my way around, I guess? I'm sorry, could I get your name?" |

"Velocity," she offered with a smile. "It won't take too long once you get the hallways straight. I'm still kind of new here, myself, and I think that was the biggest problem. Probably a good thing I don't work far from my hab...Anyway! I see you met Ten, too. Don't let the dour countenance and stoic silence fool you, he's actually a big softie." Jitter gave a smile back, though it was hidden behind his facemask; his optic band brightened alongside it, making his expression softer and cheerier. He was still a little nervous, but talking always helped get his mind off his nerves. "Nice to meet you, Velocity," he told her. He stepped aside as a bigger mech tried to get past him, then returned to Velocity. "I've never been on a ship this big. It might take me longer than you think. I'm here for a while, I think, so I've got time to learn." He glanced back to the golden mech at the door - Ten, apparently - curiosity getting the better of him now that his nerves were starting to calm. "I'll take your word for it. He looks busy right now, otherwise I'd go apologize for freezing up. I'm just not used to such big bots anymore." |

"I don't think he's going to take it too personally--you're just a newbie, after all. They tend to be pretty forgiving." Velocity shrugged. Though she was happy to see he'd relaxed a little after being initially stunned by Ten (not that she blamed him--he was easily three times the poor thing's height, if not more!). "Care to join me for a drink, by the way?" |

"I'm surprised he let me in," Jitter noted. "I'm so new, I barely register on the radar." He'd only been on the ship for a short time, unconscious for most of it, and was only just beginning to explore the ship. He hadn't even found a hab-suite yet; he'd come to the bar in the hopes of finding someone to talk to and maybe find someone who'd put up with a skittish mini for a roommate. At least he'd accomplished part of that self-assigned mission. "Yeah, that'd be nice. What do they serve here?" |

She made a dismissive gesture. "I think he knows--it's not exactly a small ship, but taking someone in is kind of important information for the crew, you know?" As she tried to think of the menu--only a narrow range of which she actually sampled on a regular basis--Velocity tapped on the side of her own glass with one finger. "...it's actually probably easier just to have you look. Swerve tries to pick up something new every time we stop to refuel or re-supply, so...yeah. It's kind of a lot. Or at least a lot f what Magnus will allow onboard, anyway." |

"Something I'm grateful for." Jitter didn't know where he'd be if the Lost Light hadn't come across his escape pod. From what he'd been told, the pod had been damaged and hadn't been working properly. He could have been floating around in space for years before he landed on a planet. He was glad the ship's captain - captains, actually - had brought him on board and accepted his request to join the crew. He only hoped that the others had fared better than him and were unharmed from the attack on their ship. Deciding he didn't want to dwell on it, because he knew he'd make himself upset thinking that his fellow archives might be hurt, Jitter headed towards the bar counter. He'd look at what was available and try something new. "At least I won't get bored of the same engex over and over," he quipped. He looked to Velocity. "You said you were pretty new, yeah? Can I ask what made you join the crew here?" |

"Ooh no. Please don't let Swerve even think there's something boring on his menu." As a rite of passage, she'd taken a few shots of Nightmare Fuel. It was something she'd never try again. Ever. "Anyway. Yes--I'm almost past the 'not new' mark, since we've taken on a few more since then, but yeah. Still new. I used to be on another ship," Velocity decided not to talk about the adventures. She didn't want to scare Jitter off. "but I ran into the Lost Light crew. Someone from my sorority back home convince me to join here and--well--I've been here ever since. Mostly because we seem to be losing medics..." A pause. "...I'd like to clarify that the medics aren't dead, they just keep leaving. Though the CMO's back now, thankfully. I think he might have been there when they brought you back online. First Aid? Most benevolent medic in the universe?" |

"As far as he'll know, everything on his menu will be fit for Primus in my opinion. My mentor didn't approve of wasting resources on engex, so we didn't go to many bars." Standard grade energon was most of what they'd had. Lacuna had once figured out a way to rig up a still and made their own high-grade, but they'd always been careful not to overdo things, not wanting to waste supplies and rations. Jitter had lived a pretty sheltered life with the other archivists, despite being on the run. Listening to what Velocity had to say, his sheltered days were over. If it hadn't been for the clarification, he might have been on high alert at the idea of medics being lost. "Seems a little strange the medics keep leaving. Aren't there regulations against that?" He'd never really asked Lacuna about medical regulations; law and medicine were his friend's specialty, not his. At the mention of the medic he'd talked to when he woke up, Jitter gave a nod. "The one with the visor, right? He seemed really nice. I take it you're a medic?" |

Hearing that, Velocity made sure to keep an eye on him if he decided to drink anything stronger than what she did...she'd feel guilty if he ended up with a hangover the next day! "I don't know how regulations work on a ship--this is only my second crew," she replied with a shrug. "And things get...interesting...here. The first bot just left for whatever reason, Aid got called back to Cybertron for a little bit, and I...haven't had an existential crisis or whatever yet, so I'm here for the time being. But yeah--medic. Currently off-duty, but yes." |

Jitter went over to the bar, climbing up at seat to see over the counter - everything on the ship was bigger than he was used to; he knew his body type was smaller than most minibots, because of the extensive rebuilding of his frame, but did everything on the Lost Light have to be taller and higher than he could reach? He got the bartender's attention and ordered a drink, asking for whatever the bartender thought was good. "I have to say I'm a little surprised," Jitter told Velocity while he waited for his drink. "I never would have guessed you were a medic by your form. When Herodatus took the others and I from Cybertron, the Functionalists were still dictating function by form. Has that changed with the war?" He'd missed so much while he and the others were away from Cybertron. Herodatus had meant to protect as much cultural data with his project, but now there were millions of years missing from the archives and Jitter was curious to know how much had changed. What was new? How much had been lost? He didn't even know how extensive the war had been. He'd heard rumors during their stops on various planets, but rumors weren't factual data. |

Velocity settled down in one of the empty seats next to him--getting a refill in the process--and tried to make a mental note to ask Swerve if he had any extra of the mini-friendly stools/chairs laying around. She knew there had to be enough to accommodate everybody. At the form comment, however, she seemed very...confused. It took a moment for the rest of her memory to catch up. "Oh--oh. You mean the Functionist thing? I think it's over, yeah. I mean...I'm going to assume so? You'd have more luck talking to one of the others about that. I'm not from Cybertron proper, and I'm still sort of catching up on the history." Recent adventures had cut into her spare time for reading. |

Jitter's visor brightened in surprise when Velocity said that she wasn't from Cybertron. He looked her over briefly, studying her. They were clearly the same mechanical species. He had so many questions, even more than before, and now his questions were more about Velocity than the homeworld he hadn't seen since before the war had properly begun. Curiosity piqued, Jitter picked up the drink the bartender set before him and held it in his hands as he tried to decide what questions to ask first. "Where are you from, then?" he asked. It was the best question to start with, but only the first that he had. "Would you tell me about it? What's it like?" And then, most importantly for him - "What's the music like where you're from?" |
