Rodimus couldn't help the amused snort when Perceptor froze up, tank engine betraying him. He hadn't really been paying that much attention to the movements of his hand, always a bit absent-minded when his hands needed to move. He supposed that's how he ended up subconsciously carving the map onto his desk over the past several months. He pulled his hand away, still grinning.

"Yeah, yeah, okay," he laughed. He let his hand fall to drape over his torso as Perceptor carried him. "Bet Drift loves touching that, if that's what it does to you. Who knew you could lose your cool like that? Surprise, surprise."

Perceptor grinned slyly as they came upon Rodimus's door.

"Drift is usually perched on my face, so my scope isn't something he thinks much of Rodimus. He has other distractions.", said Perceptor simply, the arm under Rodimus's legs falling away to let the Captain's pedes hit the floor, "And I am quite the cunning linguist."

Perceptor gently tweaked Rodimus's spoiler after a shift of his other hand, "Now, no more nosiness about Drift and I for the evening- you may not be able to handle what you discover."

Rodimus choked at Perceptor's response and he felt his faceplates heat up as Perceptor let him down. "TMI, Perceptor!" he exclaimed. He teased and poked fun, but there were things he did not need to know about where his best friend was perched on Perceptor. He definitely did not need to think about Perceptor being a cunning linguist, there was no way that wasn't worded exactly that way on purpose and now Rodimus was looking directly at Perceptor's mouth and stop staring, stop thinking, stop blushing!

A small, strangled noise escaped Rodimus at the tweak to his spoiler and his face heated up more. "Y-yeah. Okay, noted."

"You brought up what Drift might love touching.", said Perceptor with a snicker, "Now key in your door code; and straight to berth with you Rodimus. I have the feeling your morning will be made mostly of regret, as well as comming me to fill in the gaps."

Perceptor tilted his helm, his neck creaking and crackling from the movement and seemed to relax his stance afterwards. In all honesty he was thinking about his own berth now, tapping his servos aganist Rodimus's back absently to a tune he hummed without realizing it-

When Rodimus stammered softly, Perceptor looked back to him in amusement, "Something the matter, Rodimus?"

He grinned.

"Yeah, but you weren't supposed to turn it back around on me!" Rodimus protested. He pulled away and leaned against the wall next to his door as he poked the keypad. He made a face at the lock when it didn't take the code and tried again. And again. A fourth attempt to key in the code was taken more slowly and the door finally opened. "Already feelin' the regret. And you're probably gonna block me on the comms."

Rodimus didn't make a move to get away from the tapping against his back, though he did shudder slightly at the touch. His spoiler and back were always more sensitive to touch when he'd been drinking. "N-no," he replied, swallowing around a tightness in his throat. "Nothing. I better...just get to the berth. Thanks for the lift."

He took a step into his quarters, then paused, his back to Perceptor. "Y'know...it's not like I've never thought of being your third. But I'm gonna have to turn you down."

Perceptor listened quietly, nodding at Rodmus's back.

"I had figured, on both points. Though, I am intrigued as to why you would decline. Unless such an inquiry would make you uncomfortable."

The scientist was honestly intrigued. He had dealt with several requests from mechs to be a third in his and Drift's relationship when he was in the Wreckers- but due to the fact most of those mechs were ones he'd sooner shoot than bed, it never went anywhere. Ther were few mechs nowadays he felt he could trust, much less get close to. One was an old, old friend, back even before Kimia if memory served him well.

The other, was Rodimus. As hotheaded as the young Captain was, Perceptor knew his spark was a good one- a hope-addicted mess, but a good one.

He waited to receive an answer either way.

Rodimus paused at that, hesitant even in his intoxicated state to say anything about why he'd turn it down. It was no secret that he admired Drift, had admired him since they'd met, and Rodimus had heard more than one rumor over the years since he and Drift had become friends that they were more than that. He'd never bothered to correct anyone.

"Drift's my best friend," he told Perceptor. Though he felt like he didn't deserve to say that after sending Drift away and that he wouldn't deserve to say it unless Drift himself got a say in the claim. "I care about him, even though I'm the worst at showing it. And you make him happy. That's all I want for him. He deserves happiness after the life he's lived. It's not about me. It's about him."

He took air into his systems, letting it cycle through his frame for a moment before exventing it out. "And I've got someone."

Perceptor couldn't help the small smile on his face.

"I see.", he murmured, "All good reasons... Drift does deserve happiness, I agree."

The sniper stretched then, moving a half pace back from the door, "I am glad he has a friend like you, Rodimus. One who cares- even if you've made a few mistakes. Someone he can trust."

Perceptor checked his internal chrono before continuing, "And I wish you good fortune and happiness with your... someone. But, just be aware the offer remains open- at least from me. There aren't many I trust or consider friends nowadays. I am glad you are one of them. Go rest, your hangover awaits you."

The scientist chuckled at the image his processor built of Rodimus in the morning.

"I'll be sure to check on you once I myself awaken."

"I hope he can still trust me." Despite asking Perceptor earlier if he thought Drift would forgive him, Rodimus wasn't convinced that he would. He needed to get over himself and his fear of rejection and just go talk to Drift before he really did lose his best friend. Once he'd recharged and suffered through the impending hangover, he'd go find Drift to talk things out, let the other mech punch him if that's what was needed. He just wanted his friend back.

Rodimus looked over his shoulder to Perceptor when he said the offer remained open. A small smile crossed his lips at being called one of Perceptor's friends. He knew that those were few and far between, so having Perceptor say that he considered Rodimus a friend was pretty big. "I'm glad to your friend. Even if I'm not the greatest friend. And if things don't work out with me and Aid, I'll keep the offer in mind."

He waved off the laughter from Perceptor and started for his berth again. "Yeah, yeah. Hangover, here I come. Give Drift a kiss for me and I'll talk to him later."

"Should he decide to recharge with me this evening, I shall do so.", said Perceptor easily, giving a short nod, "Rest well, Captain."

And, like a ghost, Perceptor left. He walked down silent halls, covering his yawns with a back of one hand while the other rested against the microplating that covered an inset holster- an old habit he refused to break.

When he came upon his door once again, his shoulders sagged with a sudden comfortable tiredness- he typed his lock code wrong the first time, and swore quietly until he managed it correctly before trudging into his dim hab. He pattered about, capping bottles and rinsing glasses and stashing away the mini-still once again before dropping onto his berth with a grunt.

Recharge came for him nearly instantly- a pleasant surprise from most nights.

He hoped, however, he didn't snore.
