When Megatron walked into the bar, there was something...very different about him. He was smiling. Not in the way that people had seen him smile gently on the ship in rare moments, nor in the way broadcasts and mugshots and wartime accounts had captured his leer on the battlefield.

No, he was beaming, like something out of the ordinary just happened that made his day.

He nodded to the regulars and seated himself, raising a servo to call attention to the bartender.

"Swerve! Some engex, please!"

Rodimus was a fairly frequent patron at Swerve's and he saw a lot of things in the bar, but the last thing he'd really expected to see was his co-captain coming into the bar for anything reason besides dragging him out of the bar. Seeing Megatron come in was one surprise; the smile on his face - the kind of smile there were only rumors of rumors that Megatron was capable of producing - was a whole other surprise. Rodimus couldn't let this go and picked up his own drink to join the older mech.

"You're in a good mood," he told his co-captain, hand on his hip as he held his glass. "Mind if I join you and ask what's got you smiling for the first time in five million years?"

Megatron disregarded the mild sass of his co-captain in favor of enjoying his good mood as long as it lasted. The corner of his lip plates quirked as he looked to his co-captain.

"I've had my FIM chip disabled for the first time in as many years. Not plotting the demise of the ship, don't worry. Just a little celebration."

Truthfully, he missed the relief engex brought for a short time. It brought him relief as a miner, and briefly, as a soldier...before he had commanded all of his most important soldiers to permanently enable their chips.

He dismissed the memory in favor of eagerly waiting to taste and feel engex properly for the first time in millions of years.

Megatron waved his hand at the open seat beside him. "If you'd like to take a seat, Rodimus, you are free to do so."

Rodimus took a seat and set his engex down to wait to drink until he could toast to Megatron's good mood and disabled FIM chip. A grin crossed his lips at the older mech. "Sounds like as good a reason to celebrate as any. Though you might wanna take it easy. Even watered down, the engex Swerve keeps is stronger than the actual water of old Cybertron. Plus, five million years without even a buzz? Bet a protoform could outdrink you at this point."

He teased, of course. After so many months with Megatron on the ship, Rodimus had fallen into an almost comfortable, easy relationship with the former warlord. He wouldn't claim they were best friends - far from it, in fact - but it was surprisingly easy to get along with Megatron these days. A year ago, Rodimus wouldn't have believed it possible to get along with Megatron, but here he was, throwing out friendly banter at the ex-Decepticon.

"Tell you what, first round's on me, Co-Captain."

Megatron regarded his co-captain with a curious optic and a smile, as if a challenge had been laid before him. It's true, it had been quite a while since he'd had even a buzz, but he was still a large mech. It would take him several drinks before he'd start to feel anything.

As soon as his drink arrived, he swiveled it in his hand, sipped it, savored the lure of engex as he hadn't in cycles. And then, he tossed his head back, displaying his flexing neck cables as he took the entire glass in one shot. He gently placed the glass in front of him, and looked to Rodimus.

"Are you certain you want to go down this path?"

Rodimus watched Megatron knock back the drink and gave another grin as the other captain put his glass down. "Absolutely. How often would I get the chance otherwise?"

Just because Megatron's FIM chip had been disabled didn't mean that it was going to become a common sight to see the former warlord in the bar, knocking back drink after drink. Of course Rodimus was going to go for this. Besides, he'd kept up with Perceptor the other day (mostly), so he could clearly handle drinking with Megatron. Rodimus prided himself on being able to out-drink most of the mechs on board, since his systems burned through engex fairly quickly. The only reason he hadn't been able to out-drink Perceptor was because the scientist's homebrew was much stronger than what Rodimus was used to and Perceptor had been drinking it for much longer.

Rodimus waved over for more drinks. "How many mechs can say what kind of drunk Megatron is? I wanna see if you start spewing poetry."
