So much panic, so little time!
|
With all the excitement, Velocity hadn't learned about First Aid's fight with Pharma until well after she'd finished up with their new Decepticon friends, and...well...been told about everything that had happened. She'd taken Pipes' appearance well enough, and she could handle Ambulon, despite how odd it felt. Nightmare medic? Not so much. Nightmare medic carving into her boss with chainsaws? Even less! It hadn't helped that she (and Ambulon, by extension as one of the only other medics on board) had been trapped in the medibay trying to A.) Clean up after said shenanigans--she hadn't been excited to see that someone had basically torn through every cabinet and drawer there--and B.)Now there was even more work to do, and files to update, and even more people to measure out doses of Fool's Energon for (she still wasn't so how she felt about low-key poisoning people...it didn't sit well with her, but orders were orders at this point). In other words, she'd been tying herself in knots. And, when she was finally given the all-clear to see her boss, Velocity hadn't spared much time. She'd grabbed some extra data pads (where she'd copied the newest slew of paperwork--she figured he'd want to stay up to date), and somehow managed to locate First Aid's hab. ...after only getting turned around twice. Taking a deep in-vent now that the adventure was over, she tapped the call button a couple of times and waited to see if there was any response from within. She knew how Aid liked busywork, and being on bedrest until further notice had to be driving him batty. |

He had been in the medbay sick all week, well, sick was a relative term. Injured was more correct, to say the least. Sometime after Rodimus’s visit, Brainstorm’s visit, and First Aid’s own two ditch outs to visit Pharma and to accidentally wind up in the bar fight, Aid was brought to his habsuite. It was clear he wasn’t going to get any rest if he remained in the medbay, too stressed to stay off his feet unless he was sedated. Rodimus had even told him himself, most of the times the Captain had come to stop by that Aid wa too incoherent to talk with, heavily dosed in attempt to keep him to the berth. Well now he was in his empty hab, empty-ish hab. There was a berth and his badge collection, but not much else. Data pad in hand, Aid wasn’t able to get any sleep. Arm still in a sling, he had propped the pad up on the useless appendage, using his other hand to scroll and flip. He had been a little behind with reading his Wreckers Declassified issues, or well, he had read a few while really sleepy in the past and it was better to just re-read them with a more clear conscious than to try and draw upon hazy thoughts. And then his hab suite door opened. Did anyone other than Ravage actually know his hab? Well. Guess Lottie did. “How’s Pharma doing?” |

She had to get some credit--she was new enough to the whole adventure thing that she did actually try when she could. Also...it kind of behooved her to know where the CMO could be found in his off time. In case there was more than just fingers needed reattached. "Nightmare doctor?" she asked, face crinkled up a little as she ducked in. Pharma was by far the least pleasant individual to work with on the ship. Maybe First Aid's stories had spooked her, but she didn't like working on him alone. She always had someone working security nearby. You know--just in case. "He's not dead if that's what you're asking..." Of any of the new arrivals (Jitter aside, since he hadn't been a part of that bizarre episode), Pharma was the only one who really put her on edge--and it wasn't just because of Aid's stories. |

“Glad to know he’s doing alright,” There was a soft sigh from Aid, a shimmy as he pushed himself up on the berth. “I, I get… I feel guilty. For fighting him. For fighting. I, It’s… Gosh.” He sighed, bumping his face with the data pad gently. Anything to shield his face for a few moments and collect himself. Even if he only had one arm to do so. Pharma, this Pharma, he hadn’t deserved the stigma Aid had accidentally inflicted upon him. Sure, HIS Pharma murdered Ambulon and so did this one, and that was a sour feeling that would never leave his tanks any time he locked eyes with the medic. But this wasn’t his Pharma, and it was rash for him to go and pick a second fight. Least he hadn’t flat out shot his head off like the first time. Should that had been the outcome twice, well, Aid wouldn’t be sitting in his berth. He’d be behind bars, dealing with Prowl. Least, that’s what he figured anyways. First time was warranted. “He’s… He can be okay. I think this time, this time he’s going to be okay. This isn’t Delphi, this isn’t… This isn’t somewhere where he’s in control. I’m Cmo, a piss poor one, but still. It’s mine and not his, so he shouldn’t be too awful.” He’d leave out the bit about sneaking to Pharma’s room and having a bit of a heart-to-heart with him. |

Velocity wouldn't have approved. At all. She'd heard enough 'nightmare medic' stories from Aid not to approve of even, well..alternate nightmare medic. And, well, then there'd been the whole trying to saw her boss apart. She was willing to give Vos and Skywarp a chance, but that had been a little...extreme. Probably for the fist time, Velocity properly scowled at that. "Aid...he tried to saw you in half. How is that 'okay' at all? That's...the exact opposite of okay!" Velocity gestured vaguely for a moment before collecting herself--drawing in some air slowly and letting it out through her vents. "Sorry. Things have been weird, what with the new crew popping in, and then the Hatchet being back, and...everything." Judging from the look, part of that 'everything' was First Aid being temporarily banned from the medibay until he was back at full capacity. She backpedaled quickly, though. "That said...you shouldn't feel guilty about that. Fighting back, I mean. Sometimes you really don't have another option, you know? I've never seen active combat and even I know that one," she offered, trying to be supportive, even if it came a little awkward. |

"Lottie, I was being petty and selfish. I, I hold a lot of guilt killing Pharma once. I don't think I'll ever really move past that in my life, or if I do it's going to be a lot harder now that I actively assaulted a second Pharma," his voice gave a little static, he reset his vocalizer. "I, it's hard. It's so hard having them both back here. Having them both back but not him." Feeling like a broken record, aid truly looked miserable. Constantly he was miserable over the fact Ambulon was gone. He really didn't believe he'd ever feel better. Not even with four brothers to coddle and prod at him. Not even with his mentor back. Any newly made friends. "This Pharma is different, in that I hurt him or some alternate me has hurt him, and I feel guilty about that. I shouldn't have made the first move to hit him. I barely know how to fight, I'm a pacifist. I hate, I hate shooting. Like when overlord was on the ship, I could barely even muster enough to shoot our medbay drone at the time." Sure, Brainstorm had built him a new drone, which was recharging at the foot of his berth. It was practically his child at this point. Jokes about joint custody were made, though Brainstorms indefinite absence was haunting as well. He missed his friend. "Ratch is back and I have not fully acted professional since his return. I, goodness, I just. Feel like maybe I let him down. He leaves me in charge and I almost immediately get called down to cybertron and then this. This whole thing. Some CMO I shaped up to be." The whole while he sent out mass private comms and pings through his gestalt bond. He'd heard rumor that Mirage and the lot has returned. He missed all of them, Mirage included, and it was deflating when he got no response. At least this time he could feel them there, faintly but there. Perhaps they were sleeping. "Please don't give Ratchet a hard time. And please don't go meddle with Pharma. He and I already talked things over and, it's easier to forgive them both for their petty squabble if I just. If I can just get the comfort and closure I need from them. They're going to be horribly difficult to work with, but I'm not asking you to invite them to your birthday party or anything. You're a good medic, you'll be able to read them easily." One pronged pede flexed to pet at the charging drone on the foot of his bed. This whole experience was a nightmare and could easily chalk up to a number of reasons why he now would furthermore seek therapy. He'd never go of course. Not after his first psych evaluation going awry. "I hope you didn't come here to lecture me on staying fueled, though," especially since he hadn't been fueling much at all. Instead most of the cubes he had supposed to be drinking ended up tucked into his bedside drawer. Rodimus had gotten him to drink two while he visited, another one from Brainstorm's visit, otherwise he'd been pretty terrible about keeping up with his own health. It was always easier to nurture others than himself, he supposed. |

She didn't seem particularly happy with the play of events. However, she didn't argue. She made a sour face, for sure, but she didn't argue. It wasn't in her nature, and she didn't openly question him. The sour look continued for a while, though. But, eventually--at the end--she sighed heavily through her vents again. "Fine--fine. I'll work with him, but I'm not going to admit to liking it. As for the Hatchet," He was going to regret referring to Ratchet that way; Lottie was going to use it forever. "It's a little stressful working with him, but I can do it. He reminds me a lot of one of my anatomy lecturers, really." It was hard to tell if that was a good thing or not. Still--it wasn't long before she zeroed in on the last comment, however. She narrowed her eyes a bit in response. "...should I be lecturing you about it? Because--if anything--keeping your strength up will get you back in the medibay earlier. Which means you'll be happier because you'll have something to do." There were a lot of things she'd been mulling over about his lecture--not all of it good--but she didn't know what to do about them. Or say. She ran through a mental list of crew she could talk to about them, but...the list was short. She didn't know anything for sure (which meant, in turn, Aid was safe for now). |

"Pharma isn't going to go after you. He might be a petty drama queen, but honestly he'll probably just work asking you. He's like that. Can't say I agree with it, but honestly it's better off to let him do his own thing because it keeps him out of your way." He frowned at her sour look, only his was masked off and out of sight. There was no need to poker face, not when he was unreadable. "Ratchet gets cranky and yells a lot, but, he's my mentor. I, I have a lot of respect for him but we often bump heads over moral things. I'm so glad he's back, but..." Hesitating, aid looked off to anothe corner of the room. "Everyone's here except for, well, him. It's sad and it leaves me feeling emptier than usual. These medic's are and were my family. It's hard to really come to terms with the loss, I say that a lot, and perhaps that might be why I'm clinging to Pharma so desperately. Either way, they'll play nice, but Pharma needs to recognize that the medbay is a neutral zone." |

Truth by told, she was afraid of having a bad day and falling for Pharma's baiting (not like he'd done anything to her; she was probably incredibly uninteresting--just being a busy little bee as she was, and usually under Ratchet's watchful eye). But, well, Velocity was still a little hung up on the fact that Pharma--this Pharma--had tried to carve a chunk out of First Aid. Perhaps the 'nightmare medic' stories had helped color her response. Very vividly, it seemed. But, at this point, Velocity was unsure of what she should do with Aid. She didn't know if a lecture about how he needed to take care of himself for right now, or if she should offer her sympathies about Ambulon. Again--though with a different one, this time (she tried not to think too deeply on that; it made her dizzy in a way). "As it should be," she finally settled on, looking off to the side for a moment. "Though maybe not the clinging part, though I suppose if it helps you for now while you're healing I shouldn't complain too much." |

"It's hard to explain to someone who wasn't there, I suppose. Even ratchet doesn't really understand, thinking on it, if I'm honest." There was a slight pause before he continued, sighing. No. There was only one other who could possibly relate. "Pharma is different than when I first met him, but this Pharma is also different from the one I sh-shot awhile back too. Ah, lottie, I'm sure you can think of at least one person you've know that you really looked up to only for them to be a disappointment. And if you can't that's fine, I'm glad you've never had to face that sort of situation. But, but it's hard when you know things aren't so black and white." No. Pharma was definitely an ambiguous gray. All the medic's aid knew fell into that gray area. Ratchet, ambulon, and himself included. "Don't let him get to you, and I'll bark back if he tries to say anything. Honestly he's gonna be more interested in getting Ratchet involved with pissing contests or harping on how my personal life is a mess to even consider targeting you." He really was doing a poor job at painting a good portrait of Pharma. "But if he has advice, do listen. He knows a lot even if he can't actually do anything. He's worked very hard to become a skilled medic. I'll always respect him for that work." |

Her expression was momentarily sour, but she didn't argue. Velocity would play nice--she wasn't in a position to argue, at least at work, unless Ratchet gave the go-ahead--but she didn't have to like it. Not being particularly martial by nature, she still hadn't forgiven 'nightmare medic' for trying to saw her boss into chunks. "Don't worry. I'm not interesting enough for him to antagonize me." She intended to keep it that way, at least the stubborn tone seemed to suggest she wanted no part of it, anyway. |

"Pharma means well, he's not going to antagonize anyone. He can't even practice medicine so if anything he's a little stir crazy and honestly, I wouldn't doubt if he was feeling a little homesick." Homesick for a place that didn't exist anymore. First Aid felt the same way, if he was being honest with himself. "You can't blame him for taking his chainsaws out when I attacked him first. I was being immature and petty, and..." And sparkbroken. Foolish. There was a list of words Aid could choose from. "... And I was being unreasonable. So he's not going to go after anyone unless someone else tries to break his jaw. Only I won't be there to patch anyone up." There was an unspoken 'and neither will Ambulon' but it died on his glossa. He didn't wanna discuss that. He'd rather throw himself out the airlock than talk about how much it bothered him. Jettisoning himself into space sounded pretty ideal for the moment. |

Lottie's eyes narrowed a bit at the trail-off. Whatever her beef with Pharma, First Aid was still her priority. He'd been the boss she'd been introduced to first, after all. The Hatchet could take care of himself, and she was assuming Nightmare Medic could, too. (Or Ratchet would make sure he stayed in line either way). First Aid...she wasn't so sure. With the whole Ambulon thing, and nearly being sawn in half...she still wasn't so sure. "Aid, are you sure..." She paused, frowning a little. "Are you sure you're really all right?" |

"I mean, I'm alright. I just need to rest my arm a little. But I can only nap so much and read so many reports before I get the itch to walk around. It's hard being cooped up for so long, not able to help anyone. It sucks. I want to be involved. And I'm not. I'm on the sidelines." Exventing deeply, aid began to fidget with his fingers. He couldn't stay in here. Not for much longer. Maybe he could comm someone later to bring him some movies, and a holo VID player at that. "I appreciate that you came down to visit me though." |

Lottie smiled. "You need someone normal-ish to check up on you now and again," she chuckled. "Besides, how many people are on good enough terms to borrow films from Swerve to bring over and maybe get some snacks to go along with it. As long as you promise to take it easy if you get claustrophobic and decide to go wandering." She knew he was going to go bonkers soon--if not immediately after his last visitor left for the day. What she wasn't so sure about was whether or not the rest of the medical officers knew that... |
