Someone really needed to consider some smaller furniture on this ship, Jitter decided. He knew there were small bots on the Lost Light, but it just seemed to him that he was probably officially the smallest, considering he had to jump just to get into a chair. Maybe he'd petition a stop on the next planet to get a few chairs that he could actually use.

Though, that would involve speaking to the captains and that...wasn't something Jitter really wanted to do. Rodimus was a bit overwhelming and Megatron was intimidating. He'd pass. He could deal with having to hop into some chairs and readjust others for the time being. It just looked ridiculous, he thought, to have to hop into a chair because he wasn't tall enough to just sit like a normal mech. Curse his small size. Why couldn't he have been forged even a little bit taller?

Feeling a little foolish, Jitter climbed into the only available chair in the rec room after tossing his datapad up. The chair was easily twice the size he needed and was easily more of a sofa to him than a chair. It'd clearly been built for someone who transformed into a heavy-tread vehicle, not someone like Jitter, who transformed into a data drive. He felt silly sitting there, for having to climb up, but he was there, so he might as well make the most of it. He stretched out on the chair, laying on his front, and picked up his datapad, powering it on and pulling up one of his favorite old reads and, feeling in the mood, decided to play a little music from his archives - a soft symphony, written before the golden age, and long forgotten by so many even before the fall of Cybertron to the war between Autobot and Decepticon.

Spark struck with a sudden pang of homesickness, Jitter curled up a bit and read his novel with a soft sigh. Did no one else remember what Cybertron was supposed to be?

Steelhide, sitting in one of the corners of the Rec Room been doing her best to flip the pages of the small datapad Sky gave to her in her big hands. She came down to the Rec Room not long before Jitter did, deciding to check out one of the many places the ship could offer. While it was nice to be at Swerve's or outside, staring at the stars, she also sometimes needed abit quieter spot to be at where she could still meet with others, so her Hab Suite was out of the question.

As her attempts to flip the next page was in vain, she sighed, giving up for the time being as she looked around in the room. While most other Bots were minding their business, she spotted a small bot, curled up in his chair. Standing up and picking the datapad, Steel decided that checking on the small mech wouldn't hurt her, nor it would hurt them either.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Glad for the visor that hid the fluid gathering at this optics, Jitter sat up when he heard the question. He hadn't thought he'd be noticed - hardly anyone noticed someone his size, he remembered from his years at the catalogues; he'd always been overlooked working in the catalogues, visitors looking for larger mechs for assistance than the small archivist that barely reached their hip. Stopping the music that emanated softly from his frame, he picked up his own datapad and made to scoot.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," he replied, voice slightly strained behind his mask. "Just...kind of miss home. It's been a while since I've seen Iacon. A really long while." He hugged his datapad to his chestplate, biting his lip behind his mask. "Sorry, did you want this seat? I'm a little small for it."

While it was easy for other mechs to overlook such a small Bot, Steelhide was quite the opposite - Her optics, hell, her MiniCon and her optics together made the perfect team to work on spotting enemies hiding on the battle field, and even before that, she had a keen eye to read the faces of potential troublemakers when she was a body guard.

Just kind of miss home. Oh. Something she could relate to, her wind mirrors lowering just a tiny bit. Which bot didn't miss Cybertron in it's glory days?

"I can relate to missing Cybertron. And oh no, I just came to check on you. You could sit on my shoulder in return? In exchange for the seat. I know some smaller bots like the view from up there, and I am okay with it."

Steel offered her hand for the smaller mech as she spoke, wing mirrors moving slightly. If she was going to take someone else's seat, at least that was something she always offered up to them. She was aware Skyshade loved to perch on her shoulders - and some other smaller bots, if not all, liked it there too, being able to see the world from a different view.

Missing home was only part of the problem. Jitter didn't know most of what had happened over the last four million years, only heard rumors and gossip when he and the other archives - his siblings by function - had heard whenever their ship had stopped at a port. Thinking of Lacuna and Trencadis hurt as well and, despite his attempts to hold it back, a soft whimper escaped him. He felt like a new-spark, crying in front of strangers because he missed home; though his mask and visor hid the tears of optic fluid, there was no mistaking the whimper.

"We were supposed to come home after the war," he murmured sadly. "We'd have everything we needed to start over. But I heard our world was nearly destroyed? How do we start over from that?"

He looked up at the offered hand from the large femme and let his gaze lift to her shoulders. He was small enough that her shoulder would make a better chair than the seat he was on. "Are...you okay with that?"

Steelhide's smile shifted into a sad smile on her face when Jitter brought up Cybertron. Whatever rumours he heard were nothing, but the truth in its purest form - The Cybertron they knew and cherished once, was tarnished down, long forgotten by most, if not all of them who had the luck to survive the war and lived long enough to see Cybertron in it's glory days.

"Sadly... It's true. There are others who remained on Cybertron - making an attempt at rebuilding our planet - but I couldn't stay around. I left my MiniCon behind on the planet - he wanted to help out with the restoration progress."

She nodded at Jitter's other question, her smile growing warmer in the process. She was used to others asking her whenever she was okay with other smaller mechs sitting on her shoulders - it came up often, especially since most smaller mech were more humble compared to bigger ones.

"Yes I am. My Amica, Skyshade - I am not sure if you had the luck to run into him yet - loves perching on my shoulders, so I am used to it. Besides, small Bots like the view from up here as well - and if I can make others happy by that, that's all good in my book."

Jitter had heard of the restoration efforts from some of the others on board, but he was still missing so much information about the war and the extent of the damage from the countless years of fighting. He couldn't make connections, hadn't seen Cybertron in so long that he couldn't even imagine what the planet even looked like anymore. Were any of the old buildings still standing? Did the catalogues in Iacon still stand? What about his home city?

"I hope their efforts are well rewarded," he told Steelhide. "They must have a lot to do before Cybertron can be back to the days before the war. Hopefully, when this ship returns to Cybertron, I can join the efforts. That's what I'm supposed to do. I just wound up on the Lost Light because I got separated from the others. I hope they've made it there to help."

Jitter didn't recognize the name of Steelhide's friend and gave a shake of his head. "I'm afraid I haven't met a lot of the crew. I'm, ah, a little shy." He couldn't help a small smile behind his mask at the mention of the view from Steelhide's shoulder. "That's very kind of you. I've always wished I were taller. Being my size is kind of an inconvenience sometimes."

"Yes, they do."

Steelhide's wing mirrors perked up curiously as Jitter continued talking. He travelled with others before the Lost Light? Well, that would make the most sense - especially for such a small mech as he was, having a small group to travel with has always been safer for small mechs - or so she knew from the stories she heard from others.

"Oh? Were the others archivists as well? And that's alright Jitter - I can't exactly imagine how it is for you small mechs, but I can understand if you haven't met everyone yet. I have yet to meet with most others on board - despite being a big mech."

She helped Jitter up onto her shoulder as she continued, turning over to him with her head.

"You see, even if I can't turn you or anyone for that matter into a bigger mech, this is the least I can do. It's all fine by me as well - So don't worry too much about it. An extra question - Do you like stargazing by the way?"
