So much panic, so little time!
|
...a few missions went bad? He didn't like the sound of that, but he was genuinely afraid to ask. On most levels, he actually wanted to join up. If these few bad missions were a regular thing, he didn't want to hear it right now. But, well, that'd be the story of his life, really: quite a few bad missions. Damus had to quell a nervous giggle (thankfully, he didn't have any expression to betray him there). Skids's question, however, nearly made him jump. "I-I...Well, I guess. Sure." Inside, he was genuinely a grateful; that was one less reason to be painfully awkward around people he didn't know. Outside, he was still a bit knocked off-balance by the offer. This was a lot of someone being incredibly nice to him at one time (even if it was Skids, after all!) and he didn't know how to process it. |

Whether Skids could sense the nervousness about the missions or not, he gave a reassuring grin. "Don't worry too much about life on the ship," he told the other mech. "We're bound to have a few bumps along the way, what with the quest and Megatron on board - by the way, Megatron is one of the captain's on the ship. He's...well, I'm not in any place to judge the things he's done, considering what I've done, but we're supposed to be taking him to trial with the Knights. At least he keeps Rodimus in check, for the most part." His grin widened when Damus agreed to the idea of rooming with him. "Great! When we talk to the captains about you coming on board, we'll have pretty much everything settled. Though, if you need anything before we leave, just let me know. I've been dominating this conversation, I don't even know what you've been up to lately, what you're doing on this planet. I'm not...dragging you away from anything important, am I?" |

He would have blinked owlishly if he could have. This was a bit of a crossroads, wasn't it? Of course, there was also the fact that Damus had also just bought a considerable amount of supplies that were waiting for him back in the transport vehicle (there was too much for him to pull on his own). "Um...well. I guess...it probably doesn't mean anything now, but I was here with the others. You know--Roller, Trailcutter. Them. I just bought supplies." There was a blank look at the data pad in his free claw. "Do you want to...pop back into camp with me? I just...I don't want to stay anymore." There might have been the tiniest bit of rage about being jerked around about getting his hands back. "But I also don't want to steal all the supplies..." ((Ooc: He's going to head back and see that camp's not there because he wandered into a parallel universe. Probably not worth rping, but I thought I'd mention!)) |

Skids arched a brow in confusion when Damus mentioned being with the others. "You found Roller? He went missing millennia ago, how did you find him?" The last time Skids had seen Roller was back at Alyon, the last time all of Orion's old crew had been together. Come to think of it, he wasn't even sure what had happened to Roller; there was a bit of a gap in his memories, even with the rest of his memories back. He could probably chalk Roller's presence to the parallel timeline he was now fairly convinced Damus had come from. "Yeah, let's go back to the camp." Skids finally let go of Damus' arm. "I'd like to see Roller again. Lead the way." (ooc; works for me!) |

"What do you mean 'found him'--I've been with him ever since the Senator got arrested..." And now he was even more confused. But, well, to keep from a headache, he tried to brush it off as best he could. Damus shook his head like he was trying to clear the thought away. "Um...yes. I'll drop the supplies off and then we'll...go on our way, I guess?" \\ The supplies...didn't really get dropped off. Upon heading back, Damus discovered that things...really weren't where he'd left them. There was no camp--no Roller, it seemed, after all. Not here, anyway. Just a bit of a hop, skip, and a jump away in time and space--like this version of Damus had come. Not that that was something he could process properly at the time. It took quite some time--and quite a long panic attack--before he managed to say anything comprehensible. "U-um." He tried to clear his throat of static. "The lot of you wouldn't happen to need a bunch of assorted supplies, would you? And...you wouldn't happen to have anywhere on the ship I could have a drink?" As of right now, he needed something a bit stiff. Of course, his brain reminded weakly, he also had a bunch of leftover spending money from his supply run. At least that wasn't fake! |

Skids had been curious about the differences between their two timelines, especially when Damus had mentioned being with Roller since the Senator was arrested. He wasn't even sure what point in time Damus had come from, but he was beginning to wonder just how much more he'd lived than Damus had. He mulled on it most of the way to the camp the other mech led him to, trying to connect the information he'd gathered - which was comparatively little - while they walked. When they arrived to where the camp was supposed to be and found nothing where Damus though they should be, it only confirmed Skids' suspicions about Damus' presence possibly being due to the screwy time mess that the Lost Light had recently dealt with. It was perfectly fine for Skids, if he was to be honest; he at least had his friend back and Shockwave would undoubtedly be glad to see another of his students. For Damus, though, it wasn't quite as fine, Skids noted as the other mech panicked. Skids couldn't do much about the panicking, only offer support and, at the question, he could give an answer. "We've got two bars, so depends on what you want," he told him. "You want something fancy, "Visages" is the place to go. But, I'm guessing you want something strong, so I'd suggest Swerve's. Order off-menu and he can get you some really good stuff." Skids put a hand on Damus' shoulder and gestured back towards the ship. "C'mon. We'll take the supplies to the Lost Light. I'm sure someone will find a use for them." |

When he was finally done fretting about the fact that things weren't where he'd left them, he considered his friend for a moment. For lack of better words, Damus just seemed...exhausted. He hadn't had a chance to grow out of his twitchiness, it seemed. Unfortunately for him. Though at least there was Skids. There was a rock to cling to, thankfully. Very thankfully. "Okay. Um," he fidgeted, looking back at the place where he'd last left things one more time. "Lead the way, then, I guess." ((OOC: I don't know what else to do here, so once we agree on where to close, I'll open a thread up in Swerve's )) |

In all the years since he'd first met the mech at the Academy, Skids didn't think he'd ever seen Damus look so tired. Even when they'd all been testing their abilities, pushing their limits, learning to enhance and control their skills, it had never seemed to take it out of Damus as much as just this turn of events did. He supposed that he could probably understand; everything was suddenly different for Damus, much as it had been for Skids when he'd first come to the Lost Light. Patting the other mech's shoulder briefly before letting his hand drop, Skids turned to lead the way to the ship. "We'll get you settled in on the ship in no time. The crew's great. Trust me, you'll be glad you came along." (ooc; this seems like a good place to close!) |
