Doing all the heavy lifting.....
|
In an episode that was cheese-tastic in it's awfulness, the Luke and Noah stuff was a welcome respite, even though I'm a little weary of the sweet moments. I know, I know they're bonding and what not. But let's bond and get on with it, shall we? Anyway, the one moment I loved was this: Natalie: Boys are icky. Noah: (with a loving look at Luke) I used to think so too. Say what you will, but I loved that moment and Jake delivered that line with the right amount of humor and love for his fella. Out of all the drama and running around, that is the one thing that stuck out at me. |

I know, I know, I know that it was meant to be a throwaway joke, and it was, in fact, funny. But it doesn't exactly argue against the idea that Luke "turned" Noah, and so I have to admit that it kind of bugged me. I know that it's just my own personal hangup with Noah--that he seemed 100% genuinely straight until the towel scene, and you can argue all you want with me that's just what I saw--so I recognize that other people won't view that line the way I did. |

It was a funny line. But I have to agree with you Violette. Noah making that statement makes it seem like Luke *turned* him. Another line that stood out to me was Luke telling Natalie that he will get her back when she starts dating BOYS. I was shocked Luke of all people would assume Natalie would be dating boys. He could have said something generic like "Just wait until you start dating" |

Well, I agree that the show didn't do a very good job of 'hinting' to us that Noah might be gay. Actually, they did when he very first started, in that passionate speech he gave about his college friend. Then there was that whole thing with his 'friend' Gabe. But the fact of the matter is, the show did it that way to 'surprise' us when he did turn out gay. I know a lot of viewers had a problem with it, but what's done is done. In regards to your statement, let's just say that I do kinda think that if Luke and Noah were to break up, Noah would run to the nearest vajayjay. I'm not saying he's not gay and I know he loves Luke like crazy, but I don't see Noah pursuing another relationship with another man if he and Luke split. You know what I mean? Maybe when he's deeper into the relationship or they have sex or whatever I won't think that. But it's in the back of my mind. |

Funny, but that didn't bother me at all. I get what you're saying, but I am gay and I assume folks are straight until they prove otherwise. I guess that's what Luke was doing. |

This is exactly the way I think, Anthony. It's why I've always said (ad nauseum) that Noah has never really seemed gay to me. That line was just another indication to me that Noah is Luke-sexual, not homosexual. I felt as if he were saying "Well, I thought boys were gross too, until I met Luke." He can say the words "I'm gay" all he wants, I just don't get that he's attracted to any guys except Luke. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with being bisexual, but I don't think that's the writers' intention with Noah. It would make for an interesting triangle, I suppose, to have Noah be attracted to a girl, but if that did in fact happen I think Noah would lose a lot of support. Especially from me, not that his support from me isn't already hanging by a thread. |

I don't think the show needed to show Noah lusting after other guys for me to think he's gay. He just seems like Luke turned him and comments like today's make it seem so. I mean him saying he used to think boy were icky made me think , Noah hasn't really ever been attracted to guys besides Luke. |

But didn't Noah do most of the chasing in the relationship with Luke? It wasn't like Luke was going after him..... so how did Luke turn him? |

I think once Luke told him he was gay. It just seemed like Noah was curious. I know the writers want Noah to be gay. But having him say lines like today make it seem like if not for Luke he would still find guys icky. |

Maybe, but I don't think it's what the writer's intended. I think they want us to believe that Noah is gay regardless of who he is with. Whether we fully believe it is another thing altogether. |

I'm not disagreeing with you. I definitely think the writers are saying Noah is gay. Just like the writers want us to believe Chris is a doctor LOL! |

That's right, and I know that the writers don't intend for us (bubbles and me) to feel the way we do. But with the set up to Noah's coming out, and the way the character was handled afterward, I just get the impression that he's not gay. It was different with Luke; he obviously lusted after Kevin and, from his dialogue and his acting (which was brilliant, I thought), we knew that not only did he lust after guys in general, but he agonized over it. Noah wasn't exactly cheerful about it either, but he was more upset over what his father would think than the prospect that his life was going to turn out to be way different than he thought. And then the mess happened with his mother being murdered and Luke being shot, and his reaction to his own homosexuality took a back seat, and was very rarely if ever mentioned. And he has still never had one line of dialogue that I can recall that says that he is attracted to guys, except Luke, or that he ever was attracted to them before Luke, his starry-eyed speech about "Northwestern guy" notwithstanding. I know, though, that I'm not getting the impression that the writers intend, so it's not as big a deal as I'm making it out to be. And I did think Noah's line to the girls was funny. But it just played into my main problem with the character. |
