Yeah, and if those "spoilers" from the CBS boards was correct about have Noah denying he's gay to Ameera and have Luke pretend they are friends, maybe they changed their minds about that. Because, I don't know many people who like Noah denying himself again, even if only for a little bit.
Well, now that I don't think they would do. But you're right; I think the changes that are being made are because they had originally made Noah do something that the viewers wouldn't like, and since they're trying to make him more likable, they're altering that.
You've just said in general terms what I've been thinking and trying to put specifics on....reading in your general terms is a great post.

Thanks! And I hope I'm right. As much as I don't really like the character of Noah very much, I really do want to like him (really, I do!), and anything the show can do to help facilitate that would be appreciated by me!

No.... I don't think they ever planned to make it look like Noah and Ameera are having an affair. They'd have to know that would enrage fans and really turn people against Noah and this new character. No.... I don't think the show will go there.
Really? I guess I'll defer to your judgment on that because you're usually right, but I think it's entirely possible that they would go there, at least for a little while. They've made momunental miscalculations of what viewers would like before.
Of course, it could be that they shot the first month or so of the plot and realized that maybe they did come across with what you are suggesting, maybe even without intending to. And now they have to work on changing that. I think whatever changes are being made may not be big ones. At least that's not the sense I get. I'm still not sure they've made changes yet.... but may be looking over things to see if they *do* need to be made.

Of course, I might be giving the show more credit than they deserve. Lord knows I have the tendency to do that. You could be right.... that they saw that they were going too far in hinting or making people believe that Noah and Ameera were hooking up and changed it. Because that would hurt their goal of making Noah more likable and it wouldn't help Ameera much either.

To be honest, I don't think poor Ameera has much of a shot in the court of public opinion, which is a shame for the actress. But she's coming between a soap couple with a very loyal and, shall I say, "volatile" fan base.

Honestly, I think we're past the point of Noah ever denying he's guy, or going back to the "other side". He's very much in love with Luke, and with the exception of the Maddie incident after Luke's murder attempt, he's been by Luke's side ever since.
Noah asking Luke to marry his sister to keep in safe and in the country, plus watching Noah's heart break during the ceremony would certainly make me love Noah more then I already do. It was be a very heartfelt act that could sway many viewers into liking Noah.

Another good point, which leads to a question for discussion: Is it possible the long-term purpose for Ameera is to eventually trash her, and as such build sympathy and likeability for Luke and Noah to the viewers who don't like them?

See, I know that's a popular opinion among Luke and Noah fans. But it's not the impression that bubbles and I got (again, sorry to speak for you bubbles!). Noah's acceptance of his own sexuality was so fast that a lot of viewers, like myself, got whiplash, and I never got the impression afterwards that he was really gay. I know that fans of the character disagree with me, but I think that my opinion about the character is more common than they might realize, and goes a long way toward explaining the problem that a lot of viewers have with Noah, which is why they're trying to make him more likable now.

Actually, your opinion isn't all that uncommon, including with me. I think that the show did have Noah accept his sexuality and dive right into a relationship with Luke right away. It happened rather quickly. But I think they did that because they wanted to avoid telling another coming out story and move on with the murder plot. You're also right that this is another reason why this 'pimping' of Noah is currently necessary. That said, I do believe that Noah is gay and the show isn't turning away from that.

Oh, me too! I've always said that I don't get the impression that the character is gay, but I've never thought that the show intends for me to feel that way. I think the show made a blunder in the way they've portrayed Noah's sexuality, but that they never meant for him to come across as anything but gay, except perhaps over the summer when he was with Maddie. That's why my thoughts immediately went to his "relationship" with Ameera when I heard they were making changes based on public opinion. I think they don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Oh, I agree with the whiplash & quick turnaround from Noah, so I know where you're coming from. Now I was always under the impression that the storyline was rushed due to DHK's other committment and having to leave the show sooner then expected. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the reason I never said WTF with the quick turnaround?

Anthony, I never thought of it that way. The show did spend months, and I mean months, on Luke's coming out storyline, so why do that again with Noah? Besides, Noah wasn't a core character on the show, so this way they could move quickly into the murder storyline. See how we call it murder, and not accident?
Again, I also thought it had to do with DHK's exit.

With me, it was more than just the quick turnaround, it was a lot of factors. For example, the lack of physical affection didn't help, and while I'm not one of the people who would storm the gates of CBS due to a cut away kiss, it would definitely go a long way to show that Noah is gay to have him act less platonically with Luke. Also, we've gotten no dialogue at all from Noah about how he feels about his own sexuality, when he started questioning it, or actually anything to do with it at all. At most, Noah seems, to me at least, to be "Luke-sexual." And again, I don't think that's the impression the show is trying to give, but it's the one that I think came across.

While I do think that the character of Ameera is designed to cause conflict for and give something/someone for Luke and Noah to battle against, the show is also grooming her to be a long term player if she works out. So they can't trash her too badly, I don't think. That's why more and more I think she'll be a bad girl, first in this story, maybe an ongoing problem for the boys. I have feeling she's going to be the show's young vixen.
