Below is a copy of a post I just saw on a message board about ATWT as a whole, and it started a good positive Noah thread....it's short but brings out a good point that gets overlooked (I didn't think this way either).

"I love the way Noah has been supporting Luke lately; distracting Faith & Nat the other day by playing a game, and then reminding Luke what a good man HolDim is. This relationship is healthier than so many of the others. They're actually a TEAM, strong for the other and then reciprocating when the other is down. I so enjoy their interaction and Noah's steady calm (which many I think misinterpret as being 'dull') is so refreshing in a town of hysterical men (Jack, Paul, Craig). Noah may have trouble talking the talk (for now) but he sure does walk the walk."

AMEN!

And I've said this 8,000 times but Van tiptoes so close to OTT (and hysteria in all honesty) that it's refreshing to see this even-keeled character portrayl from Jake, although I think he's definitely got room for improvement.

I think that, given the opportunity, there is enough potential in Jake to grow as an actor but that's NOT going to happen if all he ever does is make googly eyes @ Luke, not interact with any other people on the show, and is not given a decent s/l to flesh out his character more.

Plus, with the idiotic dialogue writing, I think a lot of the actors do the best they can.

I definitely think Jake and Van balance each other out. That's why I loved them to begin with.

But I still think Jake needs to emote more.

You've said this several times, and it always makes me curious, because you really don't seem to like Luke or Van very much. I don't think I can recall one positive thing you've said about either of them.

I've said several positive things about Van/Luke both here and over @ vh. Perhaps you should look again.

Oh, ok. I didn't really mean anything by that, it's just that the only things I can recall you saying are that Luke is a brat and Van is over the top. It just makes me curious because you say it so much, that's all. I have no problem with you saying them, although I disagree.

Luke *can* be a brat and Van *can* be OTT. Just like Jake *can* be as emotionally emoting as a cardboard box and Noah *can* be jealous. It's not an either/or.

But I've also stated that I enjoyed many scenes: his coming out, his interactions with Damien, his interactions with Noah in Branson after catching him in bed with Maddie, his interactions w/ Noah before he came out to him, him realizing he likes Noah, the towel scene @ the farm, the kiss, the aftermath of the kiss, the scenes on the camping trip, the scenes in the hospital, the scene where he said I love you, the Christmas scenes, the NYE scenes, etc.

I never said it was an either/or. You yourself said that you had said it 8,000 times. I don't read the posts over at vh.net anymore so I may have just missed most of your positive posts.

I've probably talked more about it on the CBS boards than anywhere but I know I've talked about it here too. I don't think I've ever had a discussion beyond "OMG...I  Van" over on vh.net in a long time.

Violette does have a point. You do tend to criticize Van/Luke a lot. Which is fine , you know I don't give a shit. But you do.

I'm not a OMG Van is the greatest ever so I really don't care but I have noticed. Just like everyone notices I'm more critical of Noah/Jake.

It might seem that way here b/c I defend Jake a lot.

We seem to get into more discussions about them as actors and/or their characters rather than s/l, which is where I'd talk more about that.

I've talked way more about the s/l on the CBS boards than anywhere.

Why do you defend Jake so much though? I don't feel the need to defend Van or any other actor. I really don't care. Van can be over the top. Van isn't cute all the time. Who cares.

I just don't understand why people feel they have to defend an actor so much.

Oh yes you do!

You do defend Van ("he's a better actor" for one) as well as the character and how much more you like him versus Noah. Roger what's his name for instance...I've seen you defend him and I've seen you post that you like him, for whatever reason. Same with Kevin and whoever played him.

And it's really not about defending Jake so much as saying that it'd be nice for him to have the opportunity to grow as an actor and get a s/l independent from Luke/Van.

And when others are posting that they don't "see the point" for Jake/Noah to have interactions with anyone else and that it's "okay" for him to be nothing more than Luke's boyfriend, if I disagree I take the opposite stance and say "yes, I see the point."

You do the same thing.

Rachel, I can totally see your point and where you're coming from. But try to understand that for bubbles and I, who are Luke fans and have been for a long time, it's become kind of a touchy issue. When Noah came along, and got all this publicity and the couple became so popular, it was almost as though Luke and Noah became a package deal. We feel as though it's difficult to be a fan of Luke or Van without being forced to acknowledge the greatness of Noah and Jake, even if we don't see it. I might be a bigger fan of Kevin than Noah, but God forbid I express that anywhere. Or I might think that Luke and Noah don't make a good couple, or that Noah is a badly conceived character, or that I just don't care about him at all, and people jump all over me for not being supportive, which is a huge part of why we formed this board.

And I have no problem with you or anyone else defending Jake or Noah. I just said something because you seemed to be the opposite of me--a Noah/Jake fan and not a Luke/Van fan--from the posts of yours that I see.
