Doing all the heavy lifting.....

Question for Friday, January 31, 2008: What did the scenes between Luke/Lucinda mean, if anything? |

Doing all the heavy lifting.....
|
The reason why I ask this question is because when I watched, Luke and Lucinda were discussing two points: making a sacrifice for a friend or a loved one and believing in a loved one no matter what. I couldn't help but think the show was foreshadowing the upcoming story with Ameera in that Luke will have to make a sacrfice for Noah.... and believe in Noah no matter what. That's what I got from those scenes..... but what about you folks? And please, those in the know, keep it spoiler free. |

I guess you agree with me then. What I found really interesting is that the show was using it in the context of the Bible. I don't know if it means anything, but it was just.... well, interesting. And certainly not the kind of conversation I'd see in the world of JP. My how the writing is so different, in ways big and small. |

You know what they say....great minds and stuff. Yeah, I saw that and read some foreshadowing in it too. And isn't the writing great these days? I hope it stays this way. And really, it was a great subtle way to have Luke know the Bible like that, Van's delivery like it was nothing for Luke to know that was great. That one little thing said a whole lot about Luke Snyder. |

Yeah.... at first I admit I was jarred by the conversation because it seems so non-soapy, do you know what I mean? Maybe not non-soapy, but just so different and refreshing.... that's what I'm getting at. The one thing it did accomplish, was to whet my appitite for the upcoming storyline. I was surprised that more people didn't pick up on it though. I did some buzzing around the net here and there and it didn't seem to register with most. I mean, I didn't think the talk was all that sublte, but maybe viewers are so used to being clubbed over the head with things (especially on this show) that they miss the finer points? |

I hate to be cynical (me?) but I think perhaps you might be giving some of the viewing audience a bit more credit than is deserved (no one here of course). Look @ the rampage about finding out that Tala had been cast as someone who has a connection to the boys. The first conclusion by a lot of ppl I saw? "Oh no they didn't! I can't believe they're going to put Noah back w/ a girl!!!" That was the first thought. My thought was "oh, Noah's sister" but a lot of ppl went in one direction, and they're still there! People have very linear ways of looking at some of these s/l and they don't pickup on dialogue and most ppl I've seen post (again, not here) don't get foreshadowing at all. The "sacrifice" line to me really played into the idea that this is *probably* going to be a green card marriage, which means both boys will be sacrificing a great deal. |

I think we are all on the same page. I read it that Luke will be making a huge sacrifice for Noah. |

Who is Vottie? And I guess it depends on what you mean by family (baby). I don't know that Luke would be thinking of marrying/being with Ameera to give Noah a family. He's already done that by having Noah move in with them out at the farm. I also think they're just too young, too inexperienced, and just not ready for a family in terms of a baby. I think this is going to be a situation of Ameera needing to stay in the states and Luke is her ticket to do that. How that then plays out in the Luke/Noah relationship remains to be seen. |

I caught on to what the conversation between Lucinda and Luke was all about. And I was surprised that so few responded to that because I saw it as foreshadowing. Luke and Noah, like any super couple (no matter how one feels about if they are or aren't) have to have those scenes of angst and we all have to bite our nails and go "No, don't do it!" at our television screens. As long as in the end true love makes them stronger and seals their relationship than bring it on. Lucinda's wise advice and also Henry's telling Luke a couple of weeks ago about how the courtship period is best so that a couple can sustain anything. Hint. Hint. The only thing the show didn't do was scroll under the above scenes "Writers' message." lol |

From now on if there is foreshadowing, they need to insert some animation of a blinking light bulb above the recipient's head. |
