after the Media bliz that was done. do you think that TPTB wish they didn't have the two week break now ?

Probably the reworking is because of the media blitz. Perhaps the writes are uping the anty as it were. This media blitz was HUGE and something that, in my personal opinion, TPTB can't ignore.

the Media blitz started after this was posted..

Oh my bad. I thought the mass mailings to the press was to be done by February 27th and the media started responding soon there after. I'm hoping that is one of the reasons for the new working. Well, like I said we'll all wait and see.

The writers returned to the show in mid-Feb and they started working on the Luke/Noah storyline and changing some things. By the time the media blitz started, they had already made their changes and the actors were already working with the new material. Now, will there be further changes BECAUSE of the media blitz? You bet.

It seems like the scripts tossed out are going to outnumber the ones we get to see. Wouldn't be interesting to get to read all the things that don't get taped?

Well, we kinda know what the thrust of the original story was going to be. But we don't know what the changes are, how much was changed and how different it's going to be from what we were originally informed it would. We also don't know if those changes are small ones or big ones, some tinkering and fine tuning or a complete overhaul. And then given the recent press and the fact that producers are no doubt crafting some sort of on screen response there may be even further changes. The only thing we do know is that Luke and Noah won't be breaking up, they won't be disappearing or be backburnered and neither actor is leaving the show. As for the rest? Fill in the blanks, I guess.

But to answer your question, I would love to read all the material that was tossed out/not taped.

And if neither actor is leaving the show, does this mean Van has or will be signing a new contract? Is the show finally going to give Jake a contract? We know that Van was negotiating a new deal. I wonder where things stand now?

I'm really curious about those changes. We could get to see Nuke finally make love before the May sweeps, which would not only relieve a lot of sexual tension between Luke and Noah BUT also calm some fans down a bit :D

I guess I'm one of the few people who actually believe TPTB a
aren''total idiiots (nearly but)...ever optimistic. Just can't help myself ;)

I wonder what the fan response (besides the usual message boards) has been about Tala.

I always guessed about Jake's contract that if he got one, it would be once Van's contract was settled positively. There is every reason to believe it will be, but from a business point of view, that would be the intellgent way to handle it ---- plus there's the added benefit with that, of time to see how Jake fares with the new story. And my feelings on that issue are, that they're probably pleased. My opinion is that although I've never thought him a bad actor, he's really stepped up to the plate, of late, and is turning it up and seems more comfortable and more in his zone. Not to mention that Jake is suddenly one half of the biggest exposure this soap opera has probably seen in a decade or two.

And an interesting theory about Tala - first, personally I really like her - but, if people don't, my theory is that they would try to adjust the character rather than get rid of or replace Tala herself. I'm not trying to label "right" or "wrong" on what I'm about to say, only stating an idea - but if viewers don't like Ameera, her character is such that they could implement changes in her to try to address it, one thing they might choose to go for would be by having her behave more like an American than an Iraqi. I hope they don't have to do that, I like her a lot the way she is, but that's something they could do if they decided to (although there might be some backlash from that, too). I hope she is well liked just the way she is because she is certainly interesting to me, and I feel her character breaks even more new ground by being on the show. That's why I hope people like her and they don't have to make any adjustments.

They know that they can play around with Van now like they did to Marthu b.

Yeah, that would be interesting to read all of those thrown-out scripts! Maybe one change the writers are making to the s/l is changing Ameera's character. To this point, she's been innocent and a victim. Maybe they might change her to be conning the guys and part of some plot with the Colonel. I was hoping this story was going to there in the beginning.....
