- Voldemort won, it was a simple as that. Harry and the Order had fought for hours on end against the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters. Every minute was a struggle to carry on; people were falling left and right. It was an epic battle, the kind that came with a high price and people never truly forget. It happened in July, just before Harry's eighteenth birthday. He, Hermione, and Ron had managed to destroy all the horcruxes. Now all that remained was to take out He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named himself. That was easier said than done.
You've got to mean them, Harry. Bellatrix's words from three years earlier reverberated in Harry's head. Oh, he would mean it. All he had to do was utter those two words and he could put an end to all of this, all the pain, the death, the evil. He could restore peace and happiness to the wizarding world. All he had to do was say it. Sweaty hair clinging to his dirty face, Harry approached Voldemort a dangerous gleam in those green eyes behind his glasses. Voldemort meant it first.
It was a quick death, but effective nonetheless. As he turned, Voldemort brought his own wand up, screaming the wands as a flash of green light headed straight for Harry himself. It struck, square in the chest and the Boy Who Lived crumpled to the ground, never to get up again.
In that moment everything froze. All the fighting that had led up to this ceased. Everyone turned, not believing what had just happened, to the body of an almost eighteen year old boy. Ginny, seventeen and unknowingly with child as of a few days, tried to run to him, but Ron caught her arm and restrained her. Nodding to Hermione, Hermione apparated and many other Order members followed in rapid succession. Ginny refused to leave, wanting to at least claim Harry's body, but Ron knew better than that so still holding onto his little sister, he apparated, her along with him.
The list of the notable dead was printed in the daily prophet the following day: Dennis Creevey, Parvati Patil, Blaise Zabini, Cassius Mulciber, Peter Pettigrew and of course, Harry Potter. But the worst was yet to come. Following the battle, Hogwarts shut down, deemend unsafe and unfit to take students at the moment. Mostly it was closed because they knew what Voldemort would come after next. Now that Hogwarts was closed, he made other plans. Storming into London, Death Eaters behind him, the Dark Lord took the ministry which was a lot easier that defeating Harry Potter. He instated himself as dictator. Then came his first proclamation: kill all the mudbloods.
He started with the younger ones, the students who still would have been in Hogwarts had it not been shut down. Eventually, he progressed until he'd killed every single mudblood that existed which was relatively easy to accomplish considering the Order has disbanded long ago and there was really no one to oppose him. A foolish person here or there, but not anyone who really could have stopped him. After that task was accomplished Voldemort began to set up his perfect pureblood society. Thirteen years ago on the urging of some of his death eaters, he reopened Hogwarts, his version of Hogwarts.
But it would seem that while the Order was gone, someone else had something up their sleeves. No one seemed to know this person's exact identity for they never let onto it. Of course, whoever it was would have to be rather clever to have avoided any attention from Voldemort for these past seventeen years. See, this mystery person smuggled muggleborns back into the wizarding world, right under Voldemort's noses into his pureblood families. Of course, the family had to be willing and almost none of them were in Voldemort's innermost circle, but they were still pureblooded.
With Voldemort's regulations they were able to work it out relatively easily. The couple made their intentions clear via a letter that somehow miraclously always found this person. So a pregnancy was faked and when the "baby" was born the woman would no longer be allowed at court which Voldemort held in London. Instead, she retreated back to their house in whatever remote part of the English countryside it was in. There she would wait until a candidate came to light. Now, not all muggleborns were fortunate enough to be a part of this because the child had to show their first sign of magic by four or they would be beyond help. Not to mention the child had to look as though they could be a product of the parents because otherwise suspicions would be raised.
But once a potential child was found, usually they were three, at the most four, the kid would make regular visits to the their couple's house to see whether or not the arrangement would work out. The child would also be let in on some of the secrets of the wizarding world and then sent home to see if they could keep them a secret from whatever muggles they lived with. If they were a success, they child would have one or two more meetings with their potential parents, if they were not quite as successful the search would continue. Now transferring the kids from their real parents to their new ones was the difficult task because a lot of memories had to be erased from those who had known the child, a lot of photographs destroyed, a lot of evidence tampered with.
Then when the child hit age five, they would be called to their first meeting at court because Voldemort believed that by this age the kid could exert some self-control. They made a single appearance at court, one chance to make an impression on the Dark Lord. Usually after their official appearance the parents held a party in the child's honor. Then the child was to go back to whatever home it was raised in until further notice. They were not seen by Voldemort again until their first year where he came to oversee the sorting. They would continue on in their education and at seventeen were called to court once again to make another appearance, one as an adult. From then they were permitted to attend court, but it was not required of them until they graduated from Hogwarts.
That was how the pureblood (and those muggleborns fortunate enough to be snuck in) were raised. The halfbloods continued life much as they always had because they were still just ordinary citizens leading ordinary lives, many of them raised on stories of battles and glory.
