Room 1471 was just the beginning.
Suicides, cheating whores, blackmail, and murder all made revenge ever so desirable in the afterlife. They made spirits angry, unsettled, and begging to have that last shot to make someone pay the same way they had. Fairness wasn’t an accepted idea. What’s done was done didn’t exist. Screams could be heard in the depths of the night. The full moon didn’t bring out werewolves, but that same unsettling feeling all the same. They said whoever went into the room was trapped their and their minds went crazy, they were thought to be insane. Their memories crept up on them from the past that they tried to bury, the fear that ate away at their stomachs and kept them awake at night. Haunted? That was just the rumors that were kept under wraps by the hotel manager. He didn’t want any trouble, didn’t want anyone digging their noses around and getting hurt – or more precisely, killed. There was an ounce of selfishness that was buried in him that the blood would be on his hands, that somehow, he could be blamed for all of this madness, so he tucked away the secrets, banned the key, and made it as though that room 1471 never, ever existed. But, everyone knows that nothing can ever stay buried – not with these kinds of secrets.
The original owner took the swan dive from his the window.
A marital dispute on a honeymoon ended up against a wall.
A surgeon gauged out his eyes, and attempted to stitch himself back up.
And most recently, a thirty-one year old writer hung himself over the bathtub.
But no one knows the stories – at least, that’s what no one thought.
They were professionals, born and raised after their mother was taken to the grave by a demon – the demon to kill us all. Their father, John Winchester, got lost in the madness, the pain, and the idea of revenge, pulling his family out of their home in Lawrence, Kansas and leaving everything they ever knew behind. The boys were young then, naïve – Sam Winchester couldn’t even walk, and Dean Winchester basked in the strong man, the idol his father was. They didn’t know what they were getting into until it was too late, until everything spiraled out of control and twenty-two years later, Sam and Dean were being pulled from their separate lives of the family that fell apart by John’s ideas because the man went missing. They didn’t know the pain they would find until one year later when their father traded his life and the Colt they worked so hard to protect to save his son. And they didn’t know what life really meant until Dean had to do the same for his little brother when a mess of things swirled out of proportion, and now, they’re just trying to make things right. They’re trying to put the pieces of the world back together.
Sam and Dean caught wind of the rumors, the “word on the street” about what was happening in Chicago, in the Paramount Hotel. They stuck their nose in with the people who had lived there for decades, just to here the variations and the tall tales. They were gruesome and grotesque stories that expressed fear on the story tellers faces. At first, Sam and Dean were skeptical. There had been ploy after ploy of old stories about hotels just to skyrocket the sales of rooms and get a new rush of inhabitants of all different colors and backgrounds. Everyone wanted that hook to pull people in, but after what Bobby had told them – after what he said that John, their father, had seen, the boys knew that this wasn’t something they could just push aside. There was too much at stake, too much at risk. People were dying because a man was getting kicks out of the entire idea, a man was letting people in there, into his hotel when the entire facility should have been shut down. This was going to end – now, but they didn’t think things true. When they entered the hotel – things started happening. No one could get out, they could only come in. More people were at risk of being murdered for some demons, some spirits cheap thrills, and time is running out – not just for the guests.
One more year, one more chance, one last shot to make everything better for the world.
It’s Sam and Dean’s job to save everything that’s trapped on the i n s i d e.
