And all seemed well still six years later. The Magical World thrived under Minister Shacklebolt, who's policy for tolerance, while causing a shaky start, improved the quality of life for witches and wizards lives so greatly that he was asked to remain as Minister of Magic past his temporary status.
The followers of Voldemort were placed into Azkaban until their crimes had been paid. Many Death Eaters still remain, but surprisingly the Malfoys were completely forgiven, but the Lestranges and Alecto Carrows were released after a few short years.
In January of 2023, Minister Shacklebolt opted to resign from his position, under the statement of wanting to spend more time with his family. The Wizarding World grieved, but the promise of a new Minister who could follow in Shacklebolt's footsteps gave them hope.
By the end of the week, Arthur Weasley was named Minister of Magic.
Yes, all was well...
But things tend to fall apart. Though Arthur Weasley proved to be a fair, tolerant, and kind Minister, he eventually took things too far. After a lot of campaigning, it was decided that the Muggle world and Wizarding world would become one again, as it was thousands and thousands of years ago. While it has not been revealed yet, talk with the Muggle Ministry is occuring, and the Wizarding World is well aware of the plans.
Of course, there are many that approve of the decision. Muggle technology has long been growing closer and closer to magic itself, and peace and understanding between the two world would eventually become necessary. Yet, there still are those who would rather the two worlds remain separate for all time, regardless of whatever power the Muggles might be gaining. Others fear that the Muggles will take poorly to their Wizarding cousins, and use their strange 'magic' against them in the end... after all, they aren't anymore as stupid as one might think.
Even at Hogwarts, the students are split into these groups. Headmistress Sprout supports the Minister, but remains a bit unsure. Muggleborn students are questioned, and it seems as if blood supremacy, a concept practically abolished when Voldemort fell, is rising once more in some wizards... sometimes enough for those wizards to start seeking extra power and intelligence.
On and on, this reckles a b a n d o n of the values of the past, the will of the minister, and the hopes of the future are beginning to cause unrest in the wizarding world...
With so many directions pulling individual wizards, who or what will you abandon?
