[size0] has there ever been a time in your life when you needed someone to talk to, but no one was distant enough from the issue to really help you out? when you needed to tell someone, but you could never find someone to tell? well, we may have just solved your problem. nearly twenty years ago, teachers from two high schools - one in burlington, vermont and one in new york city - joined together to form the "secret keepers pen pal program", or "secret keepers." the idea was for their students to have someone miles and miles away that they could talk to and bond with. it would allow them to have someone in their life outside of their every day circle of friends, who they could tell anything. when the program started, it was mandatory for all students. now, however, students may opt in. some are "strongly encouraged" to do so by their guidance counselors, others are just lonely or unhappy with their lives. whatever the reason, secret keepers forms relationships that don't just fade away. and when you finally meet your pen pal face to face, as happens once a month, who knows what sparks might fly? haven't you ever wanted someone who knows you better than anyone?
