The United States government has been directing main stream news outlets to promote it's version of "real news" for many, many years now. It is no secret to be sure, but since an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act was passed in 2012, there is no longer any doubt that most news reported may very well be propaganda created and endorsed by our very own government. Since it has been put forth that our latest election was influenced by Russian hackers circulating "fake news" stories to help Donald Trump get elected, there is government pressure to censor the "fake news" reported by alternative news sources, discussed on social media, and found through search engine results. As I stated on the MCBRN website that citizens should use all means still available to communicate important news and events including online social networking, it seems that although such forms of communication are still available, they are now going to be censored and blocked.

Very soon, we will no longer will we be able to circulate information online that has not been approved by our government, leaving us only with what the new Ministry of Truth will allow in order to protect the U.S. government interests and their supporters. Right now, no email, messaging service, landline or cell phone communications goes without scrutiny by our government. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Google and others (over 30 news and technology companies to date) will soon be filtering and blocking anything deemed "fake news" by the U.S. government, allowing them full control over our online freedom of speech. Outside of face to face communications, even letters sent by U.S. Postal Services are at risk. TOR is no real alternative either as it has been infiltrated by the government.

What can be done to preserve our right to free speech over electronic media? Considering meshnet networks can be encrypted and kept local and private, that can be utilized at least until it is discovered by the feds who can break the encryption if need be. Layers of encryption could be used on sensitive information, like a Vigenère Table, in addition to digital encryption. Still, this form of layered encryption can be broken if the government is really interested in what you have to say. Two-way licensed communications by Ham radio operators are monitored, but unlicensed two-way communications are not, at least at the moment. Stealth methods for two-way coms are useful esp. for unlicensed frequencies, but mobile monitoring by the F.C.C can be used to listen in if you are snitched on.

So it seems that now is the time to start your own communication network system that is not being controlled by the government. In my opinion the unlicensed frequencies are the way to go to keep your communications private while circulating important censored news stories, at least until the Ministry of Truth finds out and sets up the infrastructure to monitor and infiltrate your network. Ultimately it may become necessary to go completely underground to keep free speech alive in the United States. All forms of communications, from signal lights to smoke signals, may be needed to keep the free flow of information going. Although freedom of speech is in our Bill of Rights, remember what George Bush had said, "The constitution is just a piece of paper."

Still not convinced that this censorship and blocking of the internet is happening? Perhaps, you may think, it has been going on in some backwards third world nations or in some hard ass communist countries, but certainly not so in the civilized western nations. While true this sort of thing has been on going in less developed nations, it is well on its way in the developed western countries.

United Nations: Governments around the world shut down the internet more than 50 times in 2016 – suppressing elections, slowing economies and limiting free speech.

In the worst cases internet shutdowns have been associated with human rights violations, Deji Olukotun, senior global advocacy manager at digital rights organisation Access Now told IPS. “What we have found is that internet shutdowns go hand in hand with atrocities,” said Olukotun.
“In Ethiopia there’s been consistent blocking this year of social media and internet.” Dozens of people have died in protests in Ethiopia in 2016, “many of them during the kind of blackout where it’s difficult to report on what’s happening,” he said.

Several leaders used internet shutdowns to affect democratic processes, including elections. “In Uganda in February 2016 there was a shutdown of social media networks by President Museveni and that again happened in Gambia (in December) surrounding the election,” Olukotun added.

In other cases, three governments chose to shut down the internet because they thought that it would stop students from cheating on their exams, he said.
“On the whole most governments want to expand internet access,” said Olukotun. However governments do not seem to have taken into account the potential repercussions of the shutdowns, beyond the limits of free speech.

So, this is happening in Ethiopia, Uganda and Gambia, that hardly sounds like that will threaten our internet freedom of speech here in the States you might think. But Europe is following suit and mark my words, if successful, it will soon happen here as well.

Italy Urges Europe To Begin Censoring Free Speech On The Internet
First it was the US, then Germany blamed much of what is wrong in society on "fake news", and not, say, a series of terrible decisions made by politicians. Now it is Italy's turn to call for an end to "fake news", which in itself would not be troubling, however, the way Giovanni Pitruzzella, head of the Italian competition body, demands the European Union "cracks down" on what it would dub "fake news" is nothing short of a total crackdown on all free speech, and would give local governments free reign to silence any outlet that did not comply with the establishment propaganda.

In an interview with the FT, Pitruzzella said the regulation of false information on the internet was best done by the state rather than by social media companies such as Facebook, an approach taken previously by Germany, which has demanded that Facebook end "hate speech" and has threatened to find the social network as much as €500K per "fake" post.

Pitruzzella, head of the Italian competition body since 2011, said "EU countries should set up independent bodies — co-ordinated by Brussels and modeled on the system of antitrust agencies — which could quickly label fake news, remove it from circulation and impose fines if necessary."
