Hi MIM Squaders,

I realize that a lot of the things discussed in our last meeting have not been acted upon as of yet. This is partially my fault. I have been extremely busy lately and have not had a lot of time to commit to the squad over the past couple of weeks. To make up for it, I plan on releasing a few changes to our website this week. Some of which will include an enhanced and easier way of signing up for the e-newsletter, a donation submission form, and a few other changes. As for the forum challenges and the emoji escapes, they will be released as soon as we have enough funds and prizes. Last month, only two people participated in nominating someone for the kindness award. The reason these two people that were nominated have not been rewarded is because I'd like to see a little more people participate in submitting nominations before we give that big of a prize out. That said, those two votes will be carried over to this month and will NOT be annulled. Now, here are a few new things I'd like us to touch base on for this meeting. As always, feel free to add any off-topic ideas or concerns in your comments below.

All my love,
SweetTea

Top Donator Badges
We are a little low on donations from representatives. I know plenty of the staff have offered up their earnings, but I think having some donations from actual representatives would be good so that our events do not weigh so heavily on the shoulders of the staff who are already busy with their own MIM Squad responsibilities. This is precisely why I have come up with the idea of awarding top donator badges. ANY representative including staff are eligible to win one of these forum badges. Below is a preview of what they look like, designed by our very own Marnetti! There will be three badges total and only our three top donators of the month will be able to wear them. By the following month, donations will be "erased" and the next top donators will be awarded the badge. Representatives may maintain their badge if they donate high enough to be a top donator again. Soon we will have an area on the website that will show the donator rankings that will be updated each month.

Committees
So far, the only activity I have seen in any of the committees is the Event Planning committee. I would like to suggest that we keep the same process for joining a committee the same. However, I think anyone who wants to participate in any or all of the committees should feel free to do so. Since we are a squad, we work as a team. I value everyone's thoughts, opinions and ideas equally. That said, I feel we should leave the committees as open as possible while still having staff members in charge of making sure things are going accordingly. This means that we can read about what's going on and participate in whatever committee we feel like participating in. In fact, it is encouraged that we do so, that way no committee is being neglected and every area of our squad is staying strong.

MIM Squad Announcement Logo
Speaking of announcements, I believe it would be appropriate to include our logo and "MIM" icon with every announcement we post on the main forums. This would just show a little more continuity and professionalism for the squad.

Quest Event
I hereby officially name this month, August 2015 as the month we will host our very first MIM Squad Quest event! I am going to make a post in the Event Planning committee forum shortly and I'd like to encourage everyone to please participate there!

New MIM Squad Invitation Announcement
Who remembers when I posted this initial announcement: http://forums.myvmk.com/threads/myvmk-integrity-movement-mim-squad.50551/http://forums.myvmk.com/threads/myvmk-integrity-movement-mim-squad.50551/? I posted this in order to recruit people when I first began forming the squad. To say the least, the post definitely got a lot of hype and criticism. The main criticism had to do with the fact that people thought we were just a glorified clique. We also initially started with terms that involved a person being removed from the squad for poor behavior. Since we no longer have this, I have heard very little negative feedback about our squad, if any. I think it is time that we make another post much like the one in the link above, inviting players to join the squad. Since we have been holding more events, we have become a pretty well-known group. I also think that it would be a good idea to include in the beginning post, all of the links from prior event announcements that we have posted on the main forums. This way, people can see what fun the community has had from the events we have hosted.

*Update*
Below is the draft for the MIM Squad Announcement on the main forums. Please let me know what you think. Don't hesitate to let me know if you think something should added, removed or reworded.

Top donor badges
This is kinda neat! Marnetti did a great job with the badges :D I think instead of having the recognition completely erased though, maybe we could have a hall of fame? That way you could switch out the badges every month, but those people could still have their ongoing recognition. Kind of like how retired staff on the original forums have their retirement badge, except a post.

Committees
I definitely agree that the committees need more traffic. I think it would be cool for the reps to have their one *main* committee, and whatever they choose to participate in would just be secondary/tertiary/etc. That's how it is on another forum that I'm a part of. They have their main "committee" and staff members also have their position listed next to their name (like here it could be under their picture) but they are allowed to comment/add things to any other posts that they please.

MIM announcement
This may still be a little delicate, but I feel like if it's worded correctly it could be productive. I think if there's gonna be another invitation post, it should be posted here so that if someone sees something that could heat things up a bit that maybe the author didn't recognize, it can be caught before there's another big fire of sorts.

Announcement logo
Putting our logo/links at the bottom of all of our forum posts is a very productive way to get a little more traffic, and it seems to be working in our favor. It's a good gateway to recognition.

Quest event
Huzzah!

*Pardon my use of really bad metaphors and the word "like."*

Top Donor Badges:
The badges look great  ! I like Ace's idea about having a hall of fame too. It wouldn't be difficult at all to simply keep a running document with the top three donors from each month, and that would simply add an additional level to our open record keeping.

Committees:
I am surprised that we haven't seen more activity in the committees yet. I really wish that I had the time to devote to even one committee, so I do understand how difficult it can be sometimes. Still though if we can get enough representatives to join each committee, regular participation wouldn't necessarily be required, just earnestly solicited ;) . As Ace suggested, committee crossover isn't a bad idea at all either as long as each representative that is a member of a committee devotes the necessary time to his/her primary committee first.

MIM Invitation Announcement:
Again I'm in agreement with Ace. I think it's time to get the word back out there, but I think we still need to tread lightly. Posting here first for feedback prior to posting on the MyVMK forum would definitely be beneficial ;) .

MIM Announcement Logo:
Free advertising!

Quest Event:
In the immortal words of Mole from Disney's "Atlantis", "I'm so excited!" I really think this will be a major hit as long as we can pull it off without a hitch!

BTW: To whomever did the :parkmgm: emoji and named it "parkmgm", you are awesome! To me it will always be MGM Studios!

I completely agree with you both. I think that having a hall of fame is a great idea and will allow all participating representatives to maintain their "fame." The crossover technique for the committees is precisely what I meant. Each member will have their committee that they are a part of, but they will have access to the other committees and may feel free to participate in each of them as well. As for the second MIM Squad invitation announcement, I will draw something up in my spare time and post it on the forums or get it read by several staff prior to posting on the main forums. I plan on having a draft written within the next couple of days, so please keep an eye out! Lastly, as a side note, I named the emoticons, Cody. MGM Studios will live on forever! :D

I don't have time at the moment to read this whole announcement (I'm at work, and I will do that later), but I got your email and wanted to check the forum post draft. I think it would be best to leave off the part about donations and let them see that on the website? I think it looks a bit... I dunno. I don't like the part "Representatives are occasionally encouraged...entirely voluntary."

I see what you mean, Puff. I completely agree, they can later read about donating and develop a desire to donate eventually after learning more about our work. I took some of the informative parts away and updated the draft to sound more personable while still covering the necessary facts a potential representative would want to know before joining the squad. How does the new draft sound?

I think the beginning sounds a little too...fairy godmother/Hercules. Like whenever people ask me what MIM is, I tend to focus more on us promoting peace and happiness, and voluntarily creating player made events and how it really brings the community together instead of focusing on the "fixing the negatives." I feel like that was half of the steam in the last post. Bringing up negativity at all gives me a bad vibe. And it's died down a lot since then.

Just took out anything I saw that could be mistaken as negative and added a little more positive to the announcement. How does this sound? :)

By the way, there have been many changes to our website lately. Feel free to take a look around and let me know what you think! Per requests, we are also now offering a hall of fame! However, since no one will be awarded the badge until September, the hall will be empty until then.

I think that sounds a lot better. Much more positive.

Also when I was searching through the website, the currency part under one of the pages needs an update, as firewalls rarely even go for 15k now :D

I think that looks pretty good! The only thing that I might add to the discussion on the announcement would be that this one clause could use a little cleaning up.

"If you are worried about how time consuming the MIM Squad may be, the amount of time a representative participates in the squad is voluntary and determined by the representative."

Maybe something like, "I you have any concerns about the MIM Squad being too time consuming, remember that we are a volunteer organization; representatives are free to choose how much time they wish to devote to the MIM Squad and how they wish to spend that time."

Just a thought ;)
