MLC FIGHT NIGHT PRESS CONFERENCE
LIVE ON THE FIGHT NETWORK The scene opens up inside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee. The MLC has closed off the majority of the arena but kept a section of it open for the Press Conference, however, seats in that section are already completely filled as fans took immediate advantage of the free entry to watch this presser event. There is a video package currently playing of the Navorro Williams vs Paige Holloway main event above the stage and the fans in attendance are having fun interacting with it, cheering and booing, showing support for the fighter they are rooting for. It's clear that there is a 50/50 split with who the fans are behind.
Suddenly the video ends and soon after, Maria Scaletta walks out to the roar of the pumped up crowd. She waves and smiles at them all as she walks up the stage with a microphone in hand.
MARIA SCALETTA: WHAT'S UP NASHVILLE!!!!????
She stands behind the podium and giggles at the excitement of the fans.
MARIA SCALETTA: So as you all know, we're here for the MLC Fight Night 3 Press Conference. Before we get things underway I just have some quick reminders. Tomorrow night are the weigh ins for this Fight Night event, it is free and open to the public just like this Press Conference. Then on Saturday Night, before the fights, there will be a fun fan event outside the arena between 12PM - 4PM. Come out to meet the MLC ring girls, myself and Rachel Markos. There will be food, drinks, contests and training drills. If you want autographs that is going to be the place to go.
The fans cheers loudly at the news Maria just gave them, she then looks offstage and nods her head.
MARIA SCALETTA: Okay we're going to go ahead and kick things off. I see some kids here, I hope their parents know what they're about to be hearing because... heh... it's about to get ugly, believe me. Anyways folks, coming out to the stage first is our first fight on Saturday Night, new comers Cody Davis vs. Lena Lyons!!!!
Both Cody Davis and Lena Lyons walk onto the stage from opposite sides, the fans greet them with a mixed reaction. Both fighters nod to each other before taking their seats.
MARIA SCALETTA: And the second fight on Saturday Night, these two were hungry for a fight and both agreed to fight each other on social media, now here they are, making their MLC debuts.... Anthony Marcelino vs Bryon McCall!!!!
Both Anthony Marcelino and Bryon McCall walk onto the stage from opposite sides, the fans give them a mixed reaction. Both men nod their heads at one another, showing some respect before taking their seats.
MARIA SCALETTA: And the third fight on Saturday Night, this one is going to be a dog fight, it's "The God of War" Andreas Georgiadis vs Josh Schultz!!!
Another mixed reaction is heard from the fans as Andreas and Josh both walk up onto the stage from opposite sides, they both look at one another with an intense stare but both still give one another the nod before seating.
MARIA SCALETTA: Then it's our co-main event, the return of Erika "Ernie" Geneva as she takes on Mark Storm!!!
The fans start to cheer considerably louder for Erika as she steps onto the stage with her hands raised, Mark comes up onto the stage across from her and raises his hands as well. Erika walks over to him and shakes his hand showing good sportsmanship before turning around and taking her seat.
MARIA SCALETTA: And the Main Event.... boy oh boy, what a fight this will be.... Navorro Williams vs Paige Holloway!!!
The fans now erupt in huge cheers, clearly still split on the two individuals. Navorro Williams dances up the stage all cocky like as Paige slowly gets up. Navorro blows her a kiss then catches his own kiss he just blew at her, as if taking it back, he then gives her a finger instead. Some of the fans laugh at that, Paige just shakes her head at him and takes her seat. Navorro however is still standing, having way too much fun up there. Some security guards motion for him to sit but he refuses, wanting to sit down when he feels like it. After several minutes, he does just that.
MARIA SCALETTA: Who has the first question!?

Who had the first question indeed?
The room seemed to grow quiet, waiting in anticipation for the first volley of questions to go. Fight Night cards always seemed to bring excitement, this one would be no different. Standing by was Byron McCall, new addition to the MLC roster. He had already had one fight in Caged Glory, a close split decision victory. With his fight coach sitting behind him, Byron waited for his first question as a MLC fighter.
It wouldn’t take long.
Kendra Len “Byron, over here!”
Byron looked over at the reporter, recognizing her from the MLC 7 press conference. Byron quickly straightened up, nodding his head as he gave Kendra the go ahead to ask him her question.
KENDRA LEN “Kendra Len, I’m from SportsFightWeekly Magazine. Byron you have an interesting matchup against Anthony Marcelino, somebody much bigger than the last opponent you fought. Do you have any worries going into this fight, considering how your last fight went?”
Brutal.
She was direct, straight to the point but Byron could appreciate that. There was going to be no nonsense at this conference, nobody was going to allow him to get away with anything. Byron couldn’t help but chuckle at the question, almost taking him off guard a bit.
BYRON MCCALL “Worries? No, not really. I’m not worried about much, why should I be worried? I’ve already tested myself in the cage, I know what I’m capable of doing out there. My last fight might not have gone exactly the way we game planned it, but I got the win.
Sure, Kyra caught me off guard. She’s very talented, and put up a hell of a fight. I expect Anthony to do the same, but what I see from him won’t surprise me. He won’t catch me off guard, I’m fully understanding of what I’m walking in that cage with. It’s his first fight, he’s going to leave it all on the line with me. I’m ready to bring it.”
The first question was done, now the flurry of follow up questions would come. Byron was ready, he took a sip from the water bottle in front of him and prepared himself for the next question.
JOHNATHAN HENSON “John Henson, Combat Source ...Byron, you seemed to have the respect of your opponent until a brief Twitter spat. Could you go into any detail about that?”
It was an odd question, sounded like something for a little news blip.
BYRON MCCALL “Fighters talk shit all the time, I don’t understand?”
JOHNATHAN HENSON “Well it seemed like you two were poised to put on a good show, almost respectful towards each other. He seemed to take offense over your attempt to get on the upcoming Caged Glory show-”
Byron nodded his head, cutting the reporter off as he began to speak.
BYRON MCCALL “Yeah, it seemed like he had been itching to get a fight. He got one, I was excited for it because I could tell he was going to take this seriously. I’m here to fight, I got my first taste and now this is all I want to do. I was just trying to put myself out there, because I’ll fight back to back. I don’t care, Anthony took it as a slight.
You can’t really spend your whole time worrying about who is saying what, taking offense to everything. You won’t last long in this business if you do. He thought I wasn’t focused on him, that’s on him. He’ll find out on the 29th exactly how focused I am.”
The tension was beginning to build in the room, George Parker leaned forward to whisper something into Byron’s ear. Most likely advice, because Byron quickly calmed himself down. Again it was time for another question, Byron was ready.
CASEY BUNDY “Casey Bundy, from NonStop Fighting. Byron can you describe what the atmosphere has been like at King’s Road MMA? You’ve already had a few fighters come through, and now Lexi Sheckler seems to be another addition to the ever growing roster. What is that like for you?
BYRON MCCALL “It’s great, I’ve been real lucky to find a gym like that. There are a lot of good places out there, with some really serious talent. I’m taking it upon myself to make sure that King’s becomes known throughout the MMA community. Adding Lexi just brings in a whole different dynamic, it’s been really good for my training.
It was a different fight camp, not having Jason Jackson around ...shoutout to my boy, but I still feel good. What I learned from having him around, having others come through will just continue to help me to grow. I want to put on a good show, give everybody a great fight to watch. I think Anthony will be looking to do the same, so just get prepared for that.”
The question for Byron seem to be simmering down now, one more reporter stands up as he prepares himself. Byron looks on, ready for his question.
TATE ROBBINS “Heya Byron, Tate Robbins from the Boston Herald. Let’s say you have another close match with Anthony, will you feel disappointed in any way? You sound like you’d like to walk away with a finish, would anything else be a failure in your eyes?”
Byron laughs, shaking his head.
BYRON MCCALL “Absolutely not. A win is a win, I am looking to wow the crowd but you still have to fight smart. You can’t just go out there and swing for the fences, you’ll just end up gassing yourself out. I’m not trying to leave myself open, I’m looking to fight a good fight. A smart fight, it’s not going to be easy. We’ve had some people come into King’s to try and replicate Anthony’s size, it’s going to be an interesting fight.
But that being said I’m still motivated to do anything I can to get this win. I don’t want to leave it to the judges, so we’ll see what happens. George has my back, he’ll be making the calls and changing up as he sees fit. He made all the difference in my last fight, and I know he’s going to be huge for this one.”
The questions seem to have subsided, Byron laying his microphone down as George gives him a nod. Byron looks on, as the questions now begin for the others.

Nothing can prepare you for this. The media can be deadly in this business, James Shark had taught her. It didn’t take long for them to crucify him - but he wanted things to be different for her. They all did. After all, Lena Lyons is just one of Slaughterhouse’s brightest new stars. This was her moment now. All she had to do was reach out...and grab it.
Lyons looks out at the fans as a clammy hand grips the microphone, her breaths slow and deliberate as she scans the journalist’s row. Brushing a small tuft of platinum blonde hair behind her ear, Lyons’ eyes light up as she makes eye-contact with a journalist who’s beginning to stand up from his chair. He coughs twice before looking up from his tablet.
JONNY BENJAMIN Jonny Benjamin for DemandMMA. Lena Lyons, it’s been quite for the past few months for you. You’ve gone from being relatively unknown to training at the illustrious New York branch of the Slaughterhouse Gym, you then went on to make your professional mixed martial arts debut in Japan with Caged Glory FC, now you find yourself in Nashville kicking off MLC Fight Night 3. Can you sum up just how much of a rollercoaster it’s been for you?
Lena smiles as she nods along with the question. Taking a moment to wipe her palm on her pants leg, it’s clear that Lyons is somewhat nervous.
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS Well...uh, it’s a lot to deal with. And it’s a lot to take in, and like, process. That’s why I’m so happy I got my team behind me, they put all the work in, they make it easy for me to just do what I have to do. Fight. Everything’s just happened mad quick. But it’s all been a natural progression, I’m just blessed. God is great.
Lyons kisses the cross dangling from her neck before pointing to the sky. Benjamin smiles and nods before speaking once more.
JONNY BENJAMIN I think it’d be remiss of me not to mention this, but you did actually lose that fight in Japan, by TKO to Luke Sands. How are you feeling in regards to that, and has it had any impact on your fight tomorrow night?
With a vehement shake of the head ‘no’, Lena is seemingly growing in confidence as picks up her microphone again.
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS Yo, it was legit horrible to lose like that but, I ain’t gonna let it get me down. It’s the fight game. It happens, you get caught and you get slow. I couldn’t protect myself in time so the referee stopped it. I’d rather that than taking too many shots to the face and having to pull out of this event. I’m ready to go. When the management came to me with this fight I was jumping up and down in the gym - I just need ‘em to inch open that door a lil so I can kick it down, b.
The journalist nods before taking his seat, Lena taking a sip from the unscrewed bottle of water on her table. It felt to get that first question out of the way. After missing CGFC 7’s press conference due to a flight delay the anxious quest to be given her first question loomed large for the New York born fighter - but now it had come and gone. A few moments another journalist stands, a female this time. She’s handed a microphone and instantly begins to speak, looking at a much more relaxed Lena Lyons.
ROXANNE SUMMERS Hi Lena. Roxanne Summers for Fight magazine. Your opponent tomorrow night is someone who’s just as new to this as you - less so even in Cody Davis. Do you find this to be a good thing or a bad thing heading into your fight?
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS A little bit of both I think.
She shrugs before elaborating.
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS There’s obviously the viewpoint that ‘cos both of us haven’t haven’t had many pro fights at all it’s going to be a very cautious fight - or maybe one where we can both take it easy as we get settled in. B, I’m comin’ in swingin’ - trust me. I’m lookin’ to make a statement, and I promise you that I am. I’ve watched his amateur fights and he lights to throw ‘em, I like to throw ‘em. So that’s what’s good. I messed up big trying to do that against Luke Sands in Japan, a world class boxer - but I’m confident in my abilities against Cody.
Lena places her microphone, happy with her answer, though Roxanne follows up on her question.
ROXANNE SUMMERS You just said there that you’ve watched his amateur fights and you’ve noticed that he likes to stay on the feet. Have you seen anything else that you think you could use to your advantage on Saturday night?
’Lights Out’ thinks about the question for a moment, remembering back to her tape watching sessions at the Slaughterhouse facility - her head trainer Clayton Paris animatedly jumping up and pointing out his weaknesses as they watched.
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS Shi-...I ain’t really gonna give away the game plan right now. But let’s just say that I’m good with the fight staying on the feet, but if it goes down to the ground I’m still going for the finish and picking up that dub. Calculated and relentless, that’s how I’mma be tomorrow night.
Happy with the answer, Summers thanks Lena before taking her seat. A slight smirk grew on her face as she felt the gaze of her opponent on her, it reminded her of her childhood. A lot more dignified in its approach, but when all things were said and done Lyons knew she’d be throwing hands by the end of it...almost as if back in New York. The microphone is then passed to the front of the journalists row where another one has a question for Lena.
CASEY MARNER Casey Marner here for Dropping Bombs, I talked to James Shark earlier this week, and when I asked him about any emerging young talent coming through the Slaughterhouse system, your name was brought up extensively. To be spoken of in such a positive light by such a talented fighter must be a great thing, but do you feel any pressure to perform given your gym, your coach and of course, your training partners?
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS I don’t feel pressure. Why would I feel pressure? I’m driven and I want to do well and want to succeed but when I’m stood across the cage across from Davis I ain’t gonna be sweatin’. This is what I do. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Japan is one thing but this is my home country. Fighting on The Fight Network, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. It doesn’t get much better either. I want to achieve great things and I will achieve great things. I’ve been putting the hours in the gym to the point that I get kicked out when they tryna close it up. That’s my time. That’s my sacrifice. I ain’t droolin’ over some hunny on Twitter. I’m puttin’ the work in. So I got the drop on ‘em, easy.
Composing herself after her slight outburst, Lena’s eyes slowly begin to widen back to their normal state before she speaks in a much more relaxed, calming tone.
LENA ‘LIGHTS OUT’ LYONS I’m not worried about losing because I know that I’m not going to. I respect Cody and he’s going to do great things in this sport I’m sure. But I’m going to do greater things. Shark’s got me workin’ for that. Clayton’s got me workin’ for that. They gave me the pieces, now I just gotta put ‘em together on fight night, so tune in and watch that happen. This is just the first rung on the ladder. The first notch on my belt. Remember that.
With that, Lena ‘Lights Out’ Lyons drops her microphone onto the table, happy with what she’s said as she leans back in her chair. At a slight reach she manages to grab her water bottle, and begins to hydrate herself as the attention goes elsewhere.

One of the women from Slaughterhouse sat in her seat, rather pleased to be booked for a fight against someone, anyone. She wasn't one to complain or call people out, she was here for the thrill of the fight. The rush you get you when you are in that cage with someone else who has it in their head that they are going to get a win on their record by being her. She felt differently about that, not wanting to give them the satisfaction of beating her. She was good about leaving her personal feelings and any emotions at the door to the cage. Clayton and Shark have both taught her to do that, from the day she signed with Slaughterhouse. Erika was also pleased that one of her Teammates from the New York was here and on the same card that she was on. The New York is the gym she first trained at in Slaughterhouse. They scooped her up fresh from a family loss, her first loss in MLC and fresh outta Jersey. She feels that the crew at Slaughterhouse just made her better. They care about their fighters, not looking at them as a pay check, but as a family member.
Ernie sits there quietly observing everything going on. The questions the other people are asked and how they answer them. She makes note of how they sit there on the podium, how they handle themselves and how the reporters eye them up, all eager to ask someone, anyone a question.
Another reporter stands on, a male in a plaid button down shirt stands up, one of the mic holders walks over and hands him a microphone. He takes it in his hand and adjusts his ball cap.
WYATT HENDRICKS: "I’m Wyatt Hendricks from Nashville MMA and I have a question for Erika Geneva."
Ernie’s eyes move from one MLC microphone holder to another to seek out the one Wyatt is. Once she finds him she starts nodding her head some to him to let him know he has her undivided attention.
WYATT HENDRICKS: "How do you feel about Lena Lyons being part of Slaughterhouse?"
Erika wasn’t expecting to be asked that, however she didn’t let it throw her off. She just smiles as she grabs up her mic and starts to speak, answering the question.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "I think it’s great that she’s a part of Slaughterhouse. She can only bring more strength and family to what I feel is already a family environment. I think she understands that. She doesn’t seem fake either and that’s important."
WYATT HENDRICKS: "Thank you for your time."
Wyatt hands the microphone back over to the mic handler before he sits back down. On the other side of the press area another reporter stands up, this one is a female. She wore a sleeveless button down denim shirt. She smiles as she is handed a microphone. She sets her eyes on Erika, eager to ask her a question.
CHARISMA SANDERS: "Charisma Sanders from Nashville Sports and Fitness. I have a question or two for Erika Geneva. Are you ready to coach On the Rise Season 2?"
Erika smiles wide at that question, grinning even. Now that was a question she expected to be asked.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "I think I am as ready as I can be. I got my own team of coaches picked so they can offer the competitors on my team the best, all around training they can get."
CHARISMA SANDERS: "Rumor has it that you recently purchased a home in Las Vegas, is that in preparation for On the Rise?"
Erika doesn't miss a beat, although she is surprised that someone found out about her moving.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "Yes, I did in fact purchase a home with my sister Bree. Aside from the show, it is also so I can be more involved with the Las Vegas Slaughter House location."
Charisma nods her head with a smile and hands the microphone back over. Another reporter stands up, this one is a male in a light grey polo shirt. He clears his throat as he is handed a microphone.
TYRESE JENKINS: "I'm Tyrese Jenkins from The Tennessean. Got a question for Ernie, How do you feel about the newest signings for MLC?"
Erika shrugs her shoulders some, smiling as she starts to answer his question.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "I am all for new people coming in to the Macto Legion. That's more fights for those of us who are here to fight. I've heard rumblings about some people complaining and saying certain people don't deserve to be here or that they didn't earn anything to get the money they are getting. It just has me scratching my head. Those people are going to bring over fans from wrestling, modeling, music or whatever industry they were in before signing at the X with Macto Legion. The bigger the name the more money Macto Legion makes, which means more opportunities for everyone that works for Macto Legion, you know? That's how it's done. More money for everyone all around."
Tyrese glances down at his phone for his next question.
TYRESE JENKINS: "How do you feel about being the co-main event match for Fight Night 3?"
Erika just grins wide, happy tobe asked about the actual event itself.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "I'm pretty excited about it to be honest. This is a great opportunity for not only myself but for my opponent Mark Storm. We're going to go out to that cage and have a great fight getting everyone pumped for when Navarro takes on Holloway. I have been training day in and day out to be the best I can be going into this fight. Doing what I can, learning what I can about Mark. I want to give him a better fight than the last one he has. I'm not someone who is here just trying this out, I don't have anyone speaking for me. I speak for myself. I feel that Mark deserves an opponent like that. Not someone who posts pics of themselves half naked on twitter just to get people to click the like button and give them attention. I'm here to show Mark Storm that I am nothing like Spider. Just like his first fight here in the MLC, which was against Ryan LeCavalier; He's going to get his second real fight here in Macto Legion, he's actually going to earn his cuts and bruises. He's going to feel like all his training in the gym isn't going to be wasted on some half ass'd opponent. "
Tyrese can't help but chuckle as he glances down at his phone for his next question.
TYRESE JENKINS: "We all know that if you defeat Mark Storm that you'll be set to face your rival coach Ryan LeCavalier at the biggest MLC event to date. MLC 8 in the beautiful Dubai. How do you feel about that? Does that cause you to be nervous in any way?"
Erika smiles, shaking her head some. She licks her lips slightly before she starts to speak.
ERIKA “ERNIE” GENEVA: "No, man I'm not nervous at all, that only makes me want to train harder and work for that win. My Fans will be surprised, yet pleased I think. I'm going show everyone a different side to me in that cage. I'm going to be more calculated and more technical. I have to make sure that I don't get injured in this fight against Mark or that I take the least amount of damage as possible. While I am very eager to take on Ryan and think she would be a great opponent for me. Fighting her would only make me better in the ring, I can't look past this fight at Fight Night 3, I am just going to focus on facing Mark Storm. We are all very hype for MLC 8, I just got to keep my focus on Fight Night. Once I defeat Mark, I can switch it into high gear and focus on MLC 8."
TYRESE JENKINS: "Good luck with that and thank you for your time, Ernie."
She nods to Tyrese as he hands the microphone back. Ernie see's the next reporter gets up, but they are not looking at her, so she sets her microphone down and takes a sip of her water.

Cody watches the rest of the fighters make their way onto the stage and he grins. He had to admit.. he was definitely stoked to be on the same card as some of the bad ass mother fuckers sitting at the table. That much was for sure. The crowd settles down and the reporters go to work asking questions. It isn't long before his name is called by a male reporter, who stands up and raises his hand to grab the rookie's attention.
Tyler Ford: Hi Cody my name if Tyler Ford. I'm with one more round magazine. I gotta ask..does it bother you that you're fighting a female? Does that change your game plan?
Cody laughs softly and leans forward, tapping the mic gently for show.
Cody Davis Yo fam is this thing on? First off, this ain't the 1940s. Equal opportunity rights state that she can catch these hands any day of the week for the same wage as a man. I'm just playing. I respect her. She fought through a career as an amateur just like I did. She spars in the gym with guys like James Shark. She's not a joke and you shouldn't stand up in your goofy little tie and ask a dumb question like that. She's a fighter; one that's looking to take me out so I'm gonna take this pretty damn seriously. But hey, no love lost though. I do this for the love of the sport. To me... this isn't personal it's business.
Cody shakes his head and gives him a look of disapproval for the question and soon another reporter grabs his attention.
Shelby Murphy: Hi I'm the host of the power hour, a weekly podcast about combat sports. I was wondering what made you pursue fighting? You have a successful career as a musician...but you blaze through an amateur career and now you're here. What a ride right?
Cody Davis It's simple. Grow up in the streets. Where you can either fight, or come up out them sneakers homie. I'm good at fighting and I happen to be good with words too. So what? I'm not fucking here to rap battle her. But honestly it's a bucket list thing, mostly. Fight on the big stage with the MLC....
He pauses and makes a quick check mark motion in the air with a smirk.
Cody Davis but it buys my daughter the things she needs and puts her through college one day. So it's not entirely for bragging rights.
she thanks him and takes her seat, and soon he's hailed by the final reporter. He turns his Cleveland Cavalier's flat bill backward and listens with a sly grin.
Dave Ulis: Hi cody, dave Ulis here, fighttime. com. Are you here for the long run? Are you interested in a title? Will you still focus on your music career as well?
Cody Davis I'm just gonna take it one fight at a time. If i win and earn it, sure I'll fight for a strap, and no I'm m also not quitting my music career. I just dropped an album and toured a bit but I've been in the gyn for the last six months training for a debut and we are just gonna see where things go.
He takes a moment to let the interviewer sit, and stands up to look at everyone at the table.
Cody Davis I just want to thank MLC and the fans for this opportunity. To everyone else up here, I respect the hell out of you time to go to war guys, good luck. Now LET'S TEAR THE ROOF OFF THIS MOTHERFUCKER!!!
The crowd roars and he nods to the other fighters and salutes them before sitting back down and listening to the rest of the questions asked to the other people.

Though Navorro's antics earlier got under her skin just a little bit, for the most part, Paige just sat, quietly, waiting for her opportunity to speak; instead, she turned to look at each person as they spoke. For the first time since the first On the Rise was filmed, the MLC cameras were trained on her...and at least for a second, she found herself not entirely certain of what to do. The fact that she wasn't first to go was a small comfort for the Australian, however she grew increasingly impatient, to the point of screwing and unscrewing the cap to her water bottle just to have something to do with her hands.
JIM MCCLAIN: Jim McClain, from Tennessee MMA I've got a question for Paige.
The Australian perks up at the mention of her name, twisting the cap to her water bottle back on and nudging it out of the way; in its place, she pulls the microphone just a little bit closer.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Yea, aright. What's that?
JIM MCCLAIN: I think just about everyone knows the story leading up to your fight with Navorro by now; you were originally eliminated in the first season of On the Rise by Jaya DeCarlo, but his injury gave you a second chance to win that show; but, correct me if I'm wrong, you two have been training together since then, haven't you? Does it feel odd, having to face someone you've trained...pretty extensively with, considering you were both part of Marissa Kane's team on the show as well?
At least for a second, Paige has to consider the question, biting at the tip of her tongue as she does so. Eventually, though, she tucks a stray strand of hair out of her face and scoots a little closer to her microphone.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: I don't know that I'd say it's that strange, really; I mean, I've fought Niko as well, and we're both THRONE fighters. Honestly, I just don't see it as that big a deal; Navorro and I both understand what's going on, we both know what this fight's about. You said it yourself, it's about the show; it's about the fact that he got hurt and was pulled from MLC 6, and they tapped me as a replacement. You'd have the same fight if it was anyone else who got that opportunity, you just wouldn't be asking me this question.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: That's why I don't think it's the same thing. There's no big personal issue or anything; this isn't like Cass and Marissa, or Tom and Shark; Navorro and I don't hate each other or anything like that--we just have an issue stemming back from the show, and we're gonna settle it. After that, won't be any different than it was when we signed up. I know, personal issues sell and all that, but...honestly, that's just not this fight. We're gonna go in, try to prove which one of us deserves to be recognized as the top fighter that came out of that show, and we're both gonna go on afterward.
JIM MCCLAIN: This fight is...pretty much the cliche of the striker vs the grappler matchup; do you think, having trained together, you've both started to learn each other's styles a little bit?
Paige pauses for a moment and clicks her tongue, leaving the question unanswered...at least at first. Eventually, though, she turns her head back to the reporter.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: I...think you're overestimating how much we worked together, leading into this fight; I said it wasn't a personal thing, and it's not, but I still intend to win--I'm not gonna lay out everything I can do for him to pick apart in training to fight me, just like he wouldn't hand me his entire playbook for me to study.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: That being said...I don't think it's fair to the work either of us have put in to call this just a striker vs a grappler; we're both more than that.
Jim takes his seat, but no sooner is he settled than another reporter takes his place, this time a female. Paige takes the moment's respite to take a sip from her water bottle before turning her attention back to the podium.
LEXI TYLER: Paige, Lexi Tyler with FIGHT! Magazine--first of all, I know you've probably heard this in Japan already, but this is your first fight back in MLC, so congratulations on winning the On the Rise finale a few months ago.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Thanks.
LEXI TYLER: I'm curious, though--you opened MLC 6 with that fight against Jaya DeCarlo; now, after an up-and-down stint in Japan with CGFC, you're main eventing a Fight Night card; do you feel any extra pressure, knowing you're in the main event now?
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Pressure? I mean, maybe, but it's not like it's making me second guess myself; whether I'm in the first fight of the night or the last one doesn't change why I'm here; I've been busting my arse to get ready to beat Navorro and prove, once and for all, that I deserved the second chance MLC gave me.
LEXI TYLER: You don't feel like you did enough at MLC 6 to prove that?
Paige bites at the tip of her tongue again, briefly glancing away from the main podium, out into the assembled crowd...then turns her attention back to Lexi, once the question's mulled around in her head for a moment.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: I guess the more...optimistic people might say that beating Jaya at MLC 6 should've proven that enough, and don't get me wrong--that win was a big deal for me, but that was only part of it. That was fixing what I thought the judges got wrong on the show; it still didn't change the fact that the opportunity didn't actually belong to me in the first place. This fight with Navorro's gonna settle it once and for all. We both think we're the top fighters to have come out of that show--one of us is gonna be right, at the end of the night.
LEXI TYLER: You're both coming off very impressive wins--Navorro had a dominant win on the prelims of MLC 7, over Kezia Vatelli, while you had a pretty spectacular knockout of Antonio Melo in CGFC back in August; I'm just curious, how do you see this fight playing out?
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Remember when I said I think this fight between Navorro and I is more than just a striker vs a grappler? I think we both still know what we're good at; if he wants to stand and trade with me, I think he's gonna end up asleep at my feet--so, I guess the thing we don't really know is, can he take me down? Because I don't think it's gonna be some great big surprise to say he's almost certainly got the advantage on the ground, but he has to get it there. In the mean time, he has to figure out a way not to get knocked out as he comes in.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Honestly, how do I see it playing out? I'll be disappointed with anything less than a knockout win; don't get me wrong, my goal is to win, regardless of how, but if I can't finish him, I'd call that a disappointing night.
LEXI TYLER: One last question...a few weeks ago, you made a bet on Twitter; Navorro mentioned that he had to fight a teammate, but that you'd be able to go out for drinks later--you made the challenge that the loser has to buy. Is that still good?
The Australian can't stop herself from laughing a little bit, her head dropping as she does. She takes a second to push her hair back out of the way, lifting her head back up with a big grin still plastered on her face.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: As far as I'm concerned, yea, it's still on; if he beats me, his rounds' are on me.
LEXI TYLER: Fair enough. Good luck this weekend.
PAIGE HOLLOWAY: Yea, thanks.
Paige still chuckles to herself, shaking her head a little bit as Lexi takes her seat. The Australian takes a sip from her water bottle, momentarily scanning the crowd before pushing the mic away from herself a little.

Josh sat quietly, he was never one to start of conversations first. He was relaxed however, his smile never leaving his face. A member of the press stands up quickly raising their hand slightly to catch everyone attention.
RICHARD HAYES: Hi, Richard Hayes with Fighters Only Magazine. Josh last fight we saw you come out with your usual style. You were guns blazing, almost setting the tone the entire fight. Some say the referee was a little bit lax in allowing Daniel Fisk to continue and a little too cautious letting you continue. Do you think it had to do with the cut that fight or do you believe the referee thought you were out during that flurry exchange on the ground...?
JOSH SCHULTZ: Uhhh, I wish it went on. I know the referees have to do their jobs, I respect it. But, I think I could've worked out of that exchange. I mean, during that fight I felt like I could've continued. Fisk is tough, no doubt about it though...he won that fight and now he's moving on. So I should move on too and look at my next fight.
RICHARD HAYES: It seems people have been targeting the scar tissue underneath your left eye. What have you done to prevent that this fight?
JOSH SCHULTZ: Y'know Prince has been drilling it into my head that I can't be so crazy in scrambles when I've got a heavyweight looking to knock my head off when I'm standing. My last two fights, I took damage I didn't need to take and I was opened up. Fisk fight, I played my game and I took him down and started to wear on'em and it worked. I can't get crazy, even when I've got my adrenaline pumpin' and the crowd's cheerin'. So...I've been in camp trainng smart, working on my kickboxing, my boxing, I have some amazing coaches. Keep my guard up, look out for the straight punches, look out for the open palms, just be more careful overall. I'm getting better every fight, even with a setback like last fight, and that's all I really want.
Another man stands up looking at Josh.
TED LOADHOLT: Ted Loadholt with Middleeasy.com, you and Andreas are pretty identical builds. Both of you are Division I All-Americans, both of you are strong, you both like to grind. So is this gonna be a grindfest or are we gonna get a light show?
Josh chuckles a bit and shrugs his shoulders.
JOSH SCHULTZ: Uhhh, we'll see how it goes? Andreas said it we're both wrestlers, but there's more to our games than that. I think I have the better jiu-jitsu. I think that might serve as a huge element in the fight if we do go to the ground. Andreas packs a punch, he likes to use his kicks, he likes to clinch, he likes to be imposing basically. And me, I'm for setting the pace, using my punches, getting inside and initiating the game plan Coach Marcello's got for me. I know after the fight was announced Andreas went on Twitter and said he was looking to drop me. So that kind of has me curious as to what he has planned. I kind of got a chuckle out of it though...so...
Josh smirks at Andreas for a moment and turns back to the interviewer.
JOSH SCHULTZ: It takes two to tango, so if he feels like he wants to dance and throw, we'll see.
TED LOADHOLT: Another question, then I won't take up your time. How excite are you about the announcement in Dubai with Cassandra Madrigal vs your teammate and training partner P3?
JOSH SCHULTZ: SUPER excited! Prince hasn't been able to really sleep since the fight was announced. He's in the gym everyday, sometimes I don't think he leaves the gym because the next morning he's still in there grinding, haha! If my fight goes as planned, I want to be able to be in his corner and help him. He's wanted this opportunity since his second defense, and he felt kind of slighted that he had to wait so long to get a shot at the World Championship. This guy's been the company's champ for a year, he does the interviews, promotes the company whenever he can, he's a class act. So I'm happy for him and I can't wait for that fight. But uhhhh, let's talk about that later, because if I don't win this fight I'll be watching that Pay-Per-View in bed with my wife helping me eat through a bendy straw.
There was some laughter and Josh laughs along with him. The interviewer sits down and Josh gives him a small nod. He leans forward staring ahead with a content smirk on his face. Josh felt like he was ready for this fight and couldn't wait to get in that cage to fight. Anything to rub that stink off from the last.

#ooc posting now...forgot about the action codes...will be all I add in edit. (Done 9:03 pm PST)
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: ……..7………
6………
5………
4……...Grab ya kids…..
3…….
2…....Grab ya wife….
1……..
Navorro Williams comes to a stand with the mic still in hand of course. His black t-shirt is plastered with the words ‘Real OTR Season 1 Champ’ across the top in white. His jeans are slightly baggy over a pair of black chucks on his feet. He starts turning around where the back of his shirt is seen with the Hannibal Lecter face in mask graphic with the wild eyes highlighted with purple irises. He begins to walk up and down the length of the stage freely looking toward Maria as if telling her to proceed as he continues his trek daring anyone to approach him. Maria gulps a little before pointing out toward the media.
SCOTTIE MATHIS: Uhhh...Nav--Navorro? I’m...umm Scottie Mathis, Cage8.com. Uhhh, M-May I ask why you are pacing?
Vo continues pacing along the stage...not saying anything at first just looking toward a lot of the media as well as those joining him on the stage. He notices where the question is coming from and continues walking looking at him.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Last chance to get the snot nose fucks outta here. Beam em the hell up Scottie.
Scottie looks lost for a moment looking around among his media constituents. Some people have gathered their children and left the section of the Bridgestone Arena when he was counting down. Now in this moment more bodies among the fan section are seen moving toward the aisleways with their kids in hand or arms. Navorro notices the movement and points toward the section.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Smart move...extreme smarts. Looks at em dippin. All of ya would deserve the A+ cept yous waited till this warning to hear me. One little press conference, nows my rep precedes me? The mouthy disrespectful tripshit with no decency? Is that what yous see?
His pacing continues back and forth looking out toward the media.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Why am I pacing? Because this...this is what I’ve wanted for awhile. To be specific, the moment I saw her fucking hand raised in my place.
Navorro points toward Paige Holloway.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Let's just say I’m a little excited maybe kinda sorta. Perhaps, lets go with I’m pacing cause this has been a long batch of weeks and a caged warrior is a restless one. Maybes I’m pacing cause my legs like to remain in motion. I’m pacings cause my dick needs some air. Maybes I’m pacing because I like to see all of you like you enjoy seeing me up here. Nah better yet, maybes I’m pacing because I’m casing which one of yous out here drives a worthwhile car so I can runs your shit from yous later when we all leave here. Hell you never knows, I’m pacings cause I fucking want to Scottie. That work?
The reply makes it completely clear to Scottie that the answer is all he’ll want from Navorro. As he takes his leave another among the media is called upon. Navorro in the meantime continues to pace back and forth.
ELLIOT JOOLS: Elliot Jools, SouthLineCage Magazine. I wanted to ask about what happened the day we all assume you signed the contract for this fight against Paige, the meeting with MLC President Dean Macha---
Navorro comes to a complete stop somewhat standing behind Mark Storm pointing at the journalist and interrupting.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: ---No, no no no fuck no hell no shit no no bitch no ya moms no trick no no stop no die no. NO. Yous will not say that name incorrectly. Not in front a me. That trash diver name is MaCheeto, MaMedicineWoman, MaChicken, MaMoneyStealer, MaMexican, MaMegaBitch, MaMassiveBitch, MaMFer, MaMountainDumb or MaMammaBitch. Count it accordingly and use one.
ELLIOT JOOLS: Geez Vo come on there’s no need fo--
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: I said it count it.
Elliot sighs.
ELLIOT JOOLS: It’s no secret that you and President Ma--Chicken?
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Good choice.
ELLIOT JOOLS: Ok but?...y-you and him met with your manager shortly after MLC 7 to discuss your punishment further. What was the meeting like? Do you have any qualms about what was done; and are you standing by your actions?
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: If I apologize for anything its for yous birth cause I wasn’t careful with ur moms. How was the meeting? How you think? Nigga smiles in yous face while taking your money. Tells that he had reason to do it. Barely gives the credit due for the wins yous gave him. The views yous gave him. Daddy Vo brings the looks all the time. Then he acts like he’s taking it easy on yous, no suspension and for that I’m suppose to thank him. Kiss his ass. Sold all that bullshit. I motivate then destroy. Its what the fuck I do and he takes his cuts over the tops like some crooked mob bitch back in the days.
He walking around in full suits and shoes from the corner racks when he know he can step in the real spots. Cheap bitch. Do I have any qualms bout what he’s done? I curse that narrow nosed ratass tranny every days of the week. That’s why Marissa slapped fire out his ass and cuz-rilla gon slap water from his eyes. My finishing touch will be pissing on him like the Asian slut he is. Only upside to the raping of my money was the fact I signed up for this destruction. Righting wrongs left and right, Kezia’s Executioner turned Holloway Hymen Breaker.
The crowd shows displeasure with his words. He resumes his pacing along the stage as Maria pick out another media sheep. While one among the media group approaches Navorro continues to pace bringing the mic back up.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Yous soft asses better hurry on the questions time constraints this time around. Get your fingers outs ya ass a put a move on it.
CHANTAL SAMUEL: Navorro, I’m Chantal Samuel from Nashville Scene. The city has been very excited about this card with the MLC coming to town.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Of course yous is, look at me. Daddy Vo pleases you and thats ok. Accept what it does to yous. You from Nashville? Cause looks like yous got a ATL ass from here lady. Georgia peach yahurdme?
The crowd chuckles and Chantal blushes a bit in her own laughter. Navorro keeps his walking pace and laughs a bit himself.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Forreal I can tell I sees it from here. It's a compliment don’t take it wild. I’m not a monster.
CHANTAL SAMUEL: I’m from Knoxville but thank you. Anyway, You along with Paige being fairly new additions to Throne MMA how do you feel about joining a gym as well known as Throne? Before you worked with a few smaller gyms in New Orleans and now you’ve trained for this fight as well as your MLC 7 victory in Vegas? How has the transition been?
Navorro walks over toward Paige in his general pacing bringing the mic back up to his mouth.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Sen-fucking-sational. This woman right here. That’s food right now. Yes, she's my campmate. Yes, she wave the Throne flag just like me. Yes, her ears are awkwardly shaped and makes you wonder if the kangaroo’s are just in Australia or getting a piece of the action on the low. Straight helping with the production of those accents but I know her. I know the dedication she’s been on. I deserve this and I’m taking advantage of the opportunities as much as possible. Just like she did. Throne MMA the mecca. Period. Marissa lost her belt fuck it but she lost to someone who honed her shit under the same exact building. Things got a little rough and she where she at but it still speaks to the level of Throne. We big in here. Quality.
I come from On The Rise Season 1 and while others DON’T have to prove their standing simply because they be a name I had to make Kezia lose her face, chin, and religion for MaDickChoke to see the chosen nature of a warrior. Now, we have a friendly so to speak to show which of the Throne standouts be the lead. The rightful winner of On The Rise. New Orleans is home for me. I wasn’t born there but I was bred there to be the limbrippa nigga I is now. My transition and growth, everything on increase in this transition. Increase Chanty! It’s like turning super saiyan on some Dragonball Z shit. Transition from the level 1,000 to over 9,000. My hair gon turn blond in that cage have you thinking I’m Sisqo and after I bust Paige down I’ma take her Season 1 crystal trophy while singing the damn thong song.
His face shows all sincerity while he continues his pace back and forth. Security has since asked him to sit to cool the aura in the room but he’s not really there for confrontation he knows when and where the time will be to fight. Right now he’s just hype and wants to walk.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Forreal I’ll sing that tired shit. Think I give a fuck?
Media and fans alike chuckle a bit with some boos in the crowd.
CHANTAL SAMUEL: It had to be a different way to prepare with both of you coming from the same gym. Can you highlight some of the differences and your overall preparation to go against Paige?
Vo nods in agreement while walking.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: It was a little different but at the same time not so much. Cause on On The Rise we all had to train in the same place. Both teams, different time schedules. Made you see your opponent almost everyday. Had to live with the mucks you had to fuck up later on. Paige and I we both gym rats. Live in that bitch. It’s a level of respect in that it’s why I’m looking forward to it. Nobody sitting on they ass or thinking the other one bout to be easy. So to answer yous question it was kinda similar in that OTR fashion. I’d have a certain time opening. She’d have another. We stayed on different levels of the gym type deal. Certain trainers on me, certain trainers on her. I still wonder who was spygate’in one of ya boys training sessions but I aint gon say nothin…
Vo gives Paige the evil eye then laughs.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: The preparation though is just as intense and mandatory. Even more now cause I know the stakes here. I know what I’m claiming and I need to back that up. She also needs to back her deal up. Her kicks are mean. No denial or backtrack on it. I prepared like a man possessed because when it comes to this shit I am obsessed. I’ll joke and kid and enjoy my short free time but when I step out of my car and come into that gym they know, you know, and even she knows. I do well against kickboxers some are more skilled than others but the basics are still one and the same. I either learn that shit or drown. Bask in her tendencies and make her pay. She will kick for her life and if I catch one we gon get to know each other reaaalll fuckin quick.
Next media member comes up to speak quickly.
CORBIN BEVERLY: Corbin Beverly, Tenn Fight Net. Do you believe Paige deserved to be the one to take your spot in the On The Rise Season 1 Finale?
Question actually makes Navorro stop from his pacing and look at the man. He rolls his tongue to his cheek and makes a pondering face before nodding a bit.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Yous all might flip wigs over this answer but, yeah...I kinda sees why it went down like that. I can say for all the people on the show Paige was a right pick on the last minute. Marissa picked her first if yous remember watching the show. There were a lot of people there but not a lot of em was focused. Bitches with fam issues, scabs worried about fucking more than fighting, and too many people with they mental taped up. That was what the circumstances was for. Lock the snakes up see who will last. During the breaks these hoes broke out to see family or catch a movie. I didn’t. I didn’t need the holidays. I didn’t need the breaks. I needed to work. Paige didn’t break either really if I remember. The outside distractions didn’t faze her. She came there for a goal BUT...she lost. Fuck your feelings on it, that's fact. Can’t change that but she did what she was suppose to. She took the chance I blew my shoulder out for but outta alls the other people there? I sees it. But before she thanked ANYONE else she shoulda been blowing my dick first cause without that injury she wouldn’t be sitting here right now.
The crowd stirs a bit hearing that. Few murmurs and many boos. Navorro gives a ‘oh really?!’ look similar to Laurence Fishburne playing Ike Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Ahh-ooohh---ahhh---whoaa fuck out here. Please fuck yous with a Gatorade bottle I’m not lying at all! Where exactly am I lying? Any of you tell me. Getting outraged over truth like a buncha kids. I’m sitting here giving creds on the choice but yous starts shitting the bricks at the truth?! I hate yous all so fucking much I swear on graves. I will come to your damn funerals with popcorn and fucking party favors with a mass band playing!! Shut the fuck up!
CORBIN BEVERLY: Wow, oookaayy? Were you surprised at all that MLC fight makers set you up against Paige Holloway? And would it be unsettling/disconcerting to fight someone who’s as up and coming as you or just business as usual?
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Fuck on outta here with that! Surprised? Nigga you just lost yous clout that last question gave yous. Man get my walking back…
Vo starts to pace again looking at the journalist like he lost his mind.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: MaChink almost came in his pants giving me this fight contract. It’s a fight I been asking for in the first place. I aint care where, here or Caged Glory but it was gon happen either fuckin way. Nobody the fuck out here surprised how you even fix your nut baggers to ask that shit? Unsettling or disconcerting? About what? Fighting? How can I sit here and be worried about anything or anyone on this roster and expect to be successful? All of us that take this shit seriously a threat. You kill any concerns or doubt with hard work and building your talent. This is my shit. What I do. I get a name. I work. I whip. Wash, rinse, pull out, finish on her face, repeat. This had to happen she knows it too cause like I said before until she beats me it’s a Barry Bonds asterisk next to that bullshit. Aint win nothin legit. As far as up and coming. We both here yall just aint been watching. Did you see how I did Kezia? Sees how she handled Melo Jr in Caged Glory?
CORBIN BEVERLY: Yes, I saw both fights.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Then it shouldn’t be a surprise to you at all. I’m #9, she #8...wake the fuck up. Get the titty sprinkles out ya eyes nigga. This some deciding shit we on right here. History books making.
Corbin shakes his head and takes his leave with another media member setting up to the plate.
EVANDER LILO: Yes, I’m from PressFightUS. Evander Lilo.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Last few man, yous all pissing me off now.
EVANDER LILO: Can you give us any update on your cousin .44’s injury. Can you talk about how your family is being supportive? Also if you were to give us a timetable, when do you expect we’ll get a comment from him?
[color=white[Vo rolls his eyes a bit before answering.[/color]
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Would go there. Punk bitch. I don’t know I got gorilla black back though. He hurd me now more than ever. He respected MaJoke for the while but he pissed on that now I think. Pretty sure. This isn’t the only avenue he has to sustain himself while he heals he’ll handle. Yous already got the comments off the radio show on his end. He mad is all. Let a nigga cry it out like a bitch for a minute. He in his feelings.
EVANDER LILO: Umm… not the answer I was expecting but I ask that to ask this. You and .44 have been pretty good in the cage by MMA standards. Do you think the current ranking system the MLC is justified or should be tossed out and re-tooled or just tossed out entirely?
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Rankings needa be thrown out just off strength Joey over here number 8 and I’m is 9 but the inner works a this shit already beens played out to me back from the MLC 7 press conference. Got the ones they want in your face and the ones they want to put the chaingang on. I’m a fighter. I’ll tell my truth in the cage where I see fit and goes with it. MLC got a dickhead at the helm so aint no telling how many mouths open beneath him waiting for the nut to drop. At this point all I can do is show em where views are.
Paige is a different fighter from the On The Rise days but just because she was picked first don’t mean she the lead. I gave that show views. I gave the MLC 7 prelims main event views. I’m giving this Fight Night 3 main event views. I am the view. Inside and outside the cage. I pack my words with actions. Good or not. Paige been seeing it from day one. I didn’t pander her as much. Aint bother her nearly as much as Kezia, why? Because I know her. I see her everyday. I can’t jolt her with my words nearly as much I can only sway her by taking a leg. She gon try to kick my head off. I’ma try to take that same leg off her fucking body. Ranking system only for the slaves, tow the line with a smile. “Yessur boss whatever you say boss.” I don’t give a fuck. Meanwhile, a Nat Turner type come thru here and turn the whole system on it’s ass. In response, they take the money and life. Birth of the MLC Nation. I’ll just be droppin MaChinko bitches on the way. I can’t pay attention to any system but my own in that cage. All that shit, here today gone tomorrow. If I fight like the warrior I am all yous all gon fall the in line anyway.
EVANDER LILO: Ok just one more---
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: ---Goddamn over tanned! Did you learn to share in kindergarten? How many times you been held back!?
Crowd chuckles at the orange complexion of the man before he continues.
EVANDER LILO: Just here one mor--outside of yourself who is one of your favorite fighters among your peers on stage?
Navorro smirks at all those sitting up there with him. He keeps the pace walking back and forth for only a little while getting toward the middle of the stage and stopping. He points at the very right of him at end of the table at Cody Davis.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: This one dick suck too much, nope.
Points to Anthony Marcelino.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: This one got fire but look like the typa guy forever taking the ugly bitch home for the team on the constant, nope. Gotta stand eventually take home a 10 nigga.
Points to ”The God Of War”.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: God of getting his ass whipped by basement dwell bitches I hate more than him, nope.
Points toward Ernie Geneva.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Garbage. Nope
Points toward Mark Storm.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: More garbage than she is. Nope.
Points toward Josh Schultz.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Cuz Gorilla Black sold you and I’m better than him anyway. Nope.
Points toward Bryon McCall.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Nigga aint no better than Spider with a owner leashing him in. It’s a press conference not a court case. You need counsel on the stage scab? Goddamn does he wipe your ass too? Example of a MaCunt fighter right there. Nope.
Points down to the other side at Lena Lyons.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: Mmmm, you intrigue me. Kinda like that one surprising good lookin girl on the district, you wanna pull over and chat but know the STI aint worth it. Nope.
Then he looks to the last one of course his upcoming opponent Paige Holloway.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: But yoous...
I actually like the fact you aint admit overtime that because of me you got that trophy. I like the fact that you really aint stomach that loss from On The Rise like you suppose to. I like the fact you have a chip on yous shoulder with the ‘robbery’ that was your early out. I like the fact that you used that to knock Jaya out and win. I like the fact you underdoggin and I’m the fav. I like the fact we both at Throne and headlining this shit. I like the fact you sitting here right now with that smug look on ya face because in your mind, you’ve earned what you now hold. I love that actually. I loves aaaallll of it matey. I really REALLY do. On life I fucking do.
Navorro walks forward a little more toward Paige causing alarm by security but Vo keeps them calm with his hands up. He brings the mic down after getting them to chill.
NAVORRO WILLIAMS: What I want YOU to like, better yet learn to love. Is the feeling of your mind going blank once we are in there. The moment where instinct overrides everything the fuck else. Gameplan be dammed cause shit I just need to survive. I want you to like the intimate feeling of my arms clenching around your neck or locking a leg making you extremely uncomfortable. Kinda like that first time losing innocence. I want you to like the acknowledgement and realization that you are in trouble. Something I’ve personally been through. An experience you only get better to understand with...experience. Makes you better, learn to love it. Waaaay more trouble than Jaya put you in. I want you to like the ground. Get real nice with the fact that the kicks won’t save you there. That your limbs may be the downfall instead of the saving grace. I want you to like me Paige. Want you to like me a lot cause we will be getting close. Oh sooooo close. Like it all campfam. Love it all and afterwards when we are both beat to shit-hell-station I want you to like Foster’s because that’s what we’ll be drinkin on yous tab. So sayth SoVo. And...nope.
He gives an extremely cocky smirk with a wink while she looks back at him with the same fire and focus. The moment stills for a long time before he walks back over toward his chair sitting in said chair and kicking his feet back on the table waiting for whatever may be next and quite frankly showing he didn’t give a shit.

Promoting fights was a tiresome thing, in and of itself. Andreas had bore the brunt of it twice and in his personal life he decided to take time off since his last foray into the ring against Jackson Mangum. He was very close in securing the victory, however, the judges though that Jackson did that much more. But he had, eventually, discovered the brighter side of things by jumping back into the cage. He wouldn’t have done it, but the opportunity was there to do something interesting against a fighter like Josh Shultz – who was a fighter in his own right. He used his post fight interview as a platform and had put it to use. Stepping into something like this blindly was not something he did much.
Andreas sat listening to his peers talk about things as he folded his arms across his chest, he wore a back form fitting suit as he looked like a million bucks trying to put his best foot forward. From the middle of a crowd a reporter shot up as he already knew the drill; the conference was in full swing as always.
CLIFF MASTERSON: Hey Andreas, Cliff Masterson from Nashville Cage [dot] com. In your previous bout in MLC, you lost to Jackson Magnum due to split decision. Do you believe that the judges score the fight correctly, or do you feel that made an error in some form or fashion?
Andreas picked up the microphone with a smirk; he knew they were going to ask him about his previous war with Magnum.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Getting straight to the point? At first I didn’t agree with the judges at all. After watching the fight, I can see where they decided Jackson had done just enough. So…no…I don’t think there isn’t any error on the part of their judgment. The better man won, it’s that simple.
Cliff wrote something on his notepad as he went into another question.
CLIFF MASTERSON: If you could, tell us what was going through your mind as the judges’ scores were announced. Andreas lowered his microphone for second, thinking about the second part of the question. He chuckled for a second and relayed it with ease.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Looking back on the fight I was really hoping just to continue fighting. I was hoping that they’d give us another round. I was pretty pissed off I didn’t capitalize on my opportunities. I cracked Magnum pretty well, didn’t I? Just didn’t get the job done.
Cliff took a seat as someone else stood up in his place and Andreas turned his head noticing instantly.
JENNIFER DERR: Jennifer Derr for the Fighter’s Magazine. Andreas, it seems that your skill set is progressing at a steady pace each fight. Last go around you showed a broad knowledge of techniques and styles. Many journalists have gone on to say that you exhibited “moments of brilliance” out there in the cage. How have you been able to progress so quickly in short a short amount of time? Do you credit anyone in particular for said growth?
Andreas nodded hearing her question as he fiddled with the end of one of his cuffs.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: It’s been a pretty tough transition, trust me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been cool getting into the cage in my previous two fights and display what we’ve been working on. It still remains a painstaking process – spacing, was one of my key issues with striking. It wasn’t like I couldn’t punch Magnum, but if I were being honest there’s a lot that goes into throwing a punch. Not only are you worried about timing, you’ve got to worry about spacing, and how they’ll react etcetera. I think my best asset is my ability to keep at it, even when something isn’t working. I’d like to credit the entire Vitality Gym with helping me with said growth.
Andreas sounded very seriously as he adjusted his microphone Derr went for another question.
JENNIFER DERR: This will be your third fight in here in MLC, Andreas. Last time, you specifically called out Jackson Magnum. People in the MMA world have been speculating as to the reason why. Is it that you don’t trust the company’s judgment, in terms of match making? Or, are you simply just trying to jump the line and pecking order?
He shook his head ‘no.’ noticing that they thought he had pull when it came to his fights. He sighed then, speaking into the microphone clearly.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: It’s not that I’m trying to jump the line and reorder the pecking order. The opportunity was there – not only had Jackson fought Riley in his MLC Debut, they had a pretty close fight if I recall. I’m all about fighting the best fighters on the table. I had to campaign to get that fight. MLC brass for months has been trying to get us to promote ourselves in the ‘new era’ of the company – I guess you can say I was just helping them along the way – it wasn’t anything personal. I just didn’t want a repeat of fighting someone the lackluster caliber of Anna Richardson; who might I add still disrespected the sport, and dare I say took a spot from a credible athlete joining the ranks.
Andreas tone changed to be very serious when he mentioned Anna Richardson; he rubbed his eyebrow with his fingers shaking his head somewhat still disappointed. SYDNEY MARTINDALE: Sydney Martindale for MMA Today Magazine. By all accounts, this Fight Night is set to be a huge event. Andreas, how do you feeling sharing the stage with the rest of MLC’s fighters on return of this event?
It was a very good question and Andreas seemed to lean forward adjusting his elbows onto the table making sure not to mess up the sleeves of his suit jacket.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Fight Night’s a huge step in a better direction for us as fighters. No longer do we have to wait to get a crack at keeping our careers going, most of us won’t have to wait for pay-per-view to get in there and throw hands. I suppose it feels good for the first show back, I wouldn’t change being up on this stage for anything in the world – well, unless you told me there were some girls around or something. I notice there’s some familiar faces up here and some that are not so familiar; doesn’t mean they can’t be punched either. We’ve got a great main event on tap and I’m just happy that I got the fight that I wanted.
He nodded rather showing that he was very serious in what he said at the end.
SYDNEY MARTINDALE: As I’m sure you are well aware, this upcoming season of On the Rise will be the world’s first glimpse inside Vitality MMA. Ryan LeCavalier is set to be one of the coaches. In your honest opinion, how do you think she will fair, and what can we all expect out of them as team?
The fans cheered a little bit at the mention of his teammate, he smirked, and then laughed slightly as they seemed to be behind his comrade in arms so to speak.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: First and foremost, you expect the unexpected. Ryan’s a damn good coach behind closed doors; she’s got ways of keeping you motivated. (Some that are more textbook and others that aren’t so much.) During the preparation for the fight with Magnum…she was on top of things. She helped my striking out that’s for damn sure. Honestly this season of On the Rise is going to be our coming out party. Slaughterhouse is famed for being the top training camp, but you’re about to witness how we really get down. As far as Ryan goes, people needlessly sleep on her selflessness and her need to attain success. First it was she isn’t a fighter, she went out and proved it twice over against P3. The TKO was tough, but best believe by the end of 2017 she’s going to end up being champion.
ROYCE McADAMS: Royce McAdams for Final Round [dot] com. Andreas, your opponent, Josh Shultz, is a very dangerous opponent. Additionally, you and he both have a record of one win and one loss. Many fans are saying that this fight is a “rankings eliminator.” Do you agree with that sentiment at all? Also do you believe that sentiment has an effect on the fight, as a whole?
Andreas waved the question off knowing exactly where it was headed. He shifted in his seat quickly looking towards the crowd with his response.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I didn’t like it at first – I don’t like when the internet coins terms and puts themselves into situations—however, I can agree that this is a pretty important fight for the both of us. We won our debuts; both losses came in our second outings. He’s looking to prove something, and just as I’m trying to prove my loss to Mangum was nothing – he’s trying to prove that he’s on par with his teammate, P3. As far as it being an eliminator I can see one of us falling from the top ten. If memory serves me correctly I’m somewhere near the bottom. I don’t know if he’s ranked above me, but if he isn’t ranked he could certainly climb with a win over me. Trust me, I’ve thought about that a few nights ago when we were winding down our camp talking strategy.
He smirked slightly only to continue on with his point.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I also feel this effects the fight in so many different ways it’s really unheard of. You’ve got two premier athletes going at it; both are proficient in wrestling…something’s got to give. I don’t think we’ll be sticking to our game plans for very long, I think we’re going to have to pull something from the drawing board.
Andreas rested the microphone against the table as he waited to see what Royce was going to say next.
ROYCE McADAMS: Both you and Josh share the attributes of having wrestling experience. Therefore, most would agree that you two are pretty evenly matched. What is it going to take for one of you to win the fight? Will it come down to one of you making a mistake and capitalizing?
Tilting his head he thought about the fight for a second just going over what the lure of the fight brought, his answer only seemed to match the passion he had for it.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Seeing as this ties into what I just said, I’ll elaborate. At some point we’re going to have to deviate from our plan to do some significant damage. So I’ll agree that we’re evenly matched. Part of me doesn’t want to slip up nor do I want to sit around for a few rounds hoping he’d make a mistake; I’m not built like that. I think what it seriously comes down to is who wants it more, that’s pretty much it. It’s all about managing our resources in the cage, should he out manage me – that’s it, it’s done; same could be said for me. I feel that’s why this might be the most entertaining fight on the card thus far. If you look at it subjectively any one of these fights could be Fight of the Night…
Royce sat down and someone new popped up just as quickly as they continued the revolving door of questions.
KRYSTEN BOLTON: Krysten Bolton for American Fighter Magazine. Andreas, you seem to be someone who is honest. Therefore, what do you think your major flaw is, as fighter, of course; and what steps, if any, have you taken to improve upon that weakness?
Andreas tapped his fingers on the table looking confident, still. Krysten was straight into the question as he pulled up the microphone he clutched in the other hand.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I don’t have any—Nah, really I’ve got tons. I think one of my biggest flaws is something the fighters up here are afraid to admit, I hate being hit to an extent. I love fighting, don’t get me wrong, but when you’re getting cracked in the face regularly by some of the best strikers. It’ll wear on you, trust me. Something like that only contributes to my main problem. I almost enter vertigo every time I enter the cage; it’s hard to deal with at times. I try my hardest to get going, the quicker I get going the more secure I get in the cage. Look, I don’t want to make it sound like I’m paranoid; it’s just something that I think all fighters up here go through.
He paused for a second, thinking on how to word the next part of his statement.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: The only way that I can improve upon it is getting into the cage, that’s it, there’s nothing special I can do. Experience is a great tool to have in situations like that, most of the time, I don’t think people realize how valuable just getting in the cage actually is. You can learn a lot about yourself, its objective, and it doesn’t care if you win or lose. The fans cheered his statement as they seemed to enjoy how he was trying to send them a positive message.
KRYSTEN BOLTON: Lastly, given the information you just shared, how confident are you in fighting against Shultz?
Andreas shook his head and smiled faintly.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I’m supremely confident. I can honestly say that I’m way more confident, than my previous fight with Jackson.
Jarod popped up quickly as Andreas nodded his head towards him acknowledging him. JAROD MAYBERRY: Jarod Mayberry for Fight Scene Magazine. Over the past couple of months, MLC has grown as a company. A lot of big name fighters have signed their names on the dotted line. Why do you think they are joining the company at this point in time?
Andreas looked down the table both ends at his peers before he answered the question; he raised the microphone back to his lips.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: MMA is expanding beyond everyone’s expectations. It’s not by chance that MLC is considered the place to be, they’ve put on some amazing pay-per-views in the company’s short lifespan. Why wouldn’t you want to be part of the action? There’s a lot of money to be made so people are going to want to come aboard the brand. It also helps some of the best fighters in the sport are underneath the MLC umbrella. These ‘superstars’ joining now is perfect, because now we’re going to have far more wiggle room in promoting ourselves. If you want to get technical, instead of giving the odd ‘interview’ or doing a press conference like this, maybe I get to get on television on late night talk shows? It’s a little farfetched, stranger things have happened. The almighty dollar what it’s about, I think we can all agree up here we all want to be paid. MLC isn’t a slave driver, but they’re trying to market us in a way that we can all feel comfortable.
“SHOW EM’ THE MONEY!” Someone in the crowd screamed as there was a loud cheer for the fact that he mentioned marking, money and wanting to put on stellar fights.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Just the other day I got a call, it was about an opportunity to model a men’s wear line that’s making its debut sometime in the near future. Wouldn’t have an outside opportunity like that had I not fought Richardson or Jackson for that matter.
Jarod looked around at the crowd smiling myself as he tried to wrap up with his second question.
JAROD MAYBERRY: Are you happy or excited about people like Brandon Banks and Alexis Terry, to name a few, jumping into a sport that you’ve devoted yourself to for years?
Andreas had a look on his face where he recognized the names, however, he didn’t really think about how they’d affect the company from a business standpoint.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I wouldn’t say that I’m excited or happy; I’m content with knowing more people want to test themselves. I read somewhere that the average MMA fan dreams of wanting to step into the cage against one of us. I can’t remember the statistics right now, nevertheless, the percentage was pretty high. In Banks case, he’s a pro wrestler and tough as they come. I know Terry’s age is up there, however, if she trains with the right people she can have a lengthy career doing this. Still the risk involved is going to be what makes or breaks them as fighters. I know they’re not looking for advice, but I’d say this to them anyway: Enter the cage when you’re ready. I know they were announced for MLC 8 and all that, should they lose or something happen, I think that they could benefit from using time to get better. Fight Night would be a perfect place for someone looking to gain experience or improve their record. You’ll get to see me fight regularly…unless I fight on pay-per-view. Now that’s how you shamelessly plug a card.
Jarod sat down as another media member came from the crowd to the left of Andreas.
SHERWOOD HOPPE: Hey, I’m Sherwood Hoppe for Warriors Daily [dot] net. I’d like to ask, what is next for you if you do defeat John Shultz? I ask that question, because you’ll then become tied with your teammate, Ryan.
The mentioning of Ryan brought another perplexity or wrinkle to this press conference, it was really interesting how media members worked, he quickly jumped into his answer trying to stave off any negativity from the crowd (if any.)
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Honestly, whoever is slated against me? I don’t really have a preference on what’s next. I take my fights as they come – again, I can’t stress that enough – because I’m getting the sense you all think I make my fights. And again, MLC gifted me two fights straight. I think it was a combination of my performances and the fact that I had the balls to call them both out. Being tied with Ryan (depending on if you count the draw) let’s me reflect and see that I’m doing things the right way. I might not be in contention for anything, but I’m definitely not a gatekeeper for anybody who’s looking to improve their place in the rankings. I actually don’t get how they rank us the way that they do. I think she is going to end up going on streak anyway. Mind you, most people tend to forget what got her noticed in the first place. She got a walk-off KO against another fighter. She knew the fight was over, that’s unheard of for anybody in the MLC. That ranks up there with P3’s opening round Knockout of Madrigal when he inevitably won the title.
Andreas rubbed his hands together as he kept a sharp point on his words.
SHERWOOD HOPPE: If you succeed in this bout, do you feel as you should become the lead fighter of Vitality, instead of picking up sparse fights?
The comment about sparse fights seemed to anger Andreas slightly as he didn’t seem to like the idea of it.
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: I don’t get where the narrative came from that they can’t co-exist at the same camp. We don’t have priority over one another we’re all equal. That goes for anybody fighting out of Vitality; I know the scheduling conflict between my debut and her debut made it look like something different, but that’s not the case. We’re teammates; and the end goal has always been to win a title. If we had to go through one another, we’d do it, and it wouldn’t have played out like that little soap opera over at Throne MMA either. I don’t think my fights are sparse by any means.
Another reporter was already standing by the time Sherwood took his seat. He leaned back rolling his neck from side to side. A fan popped up looking to ask him a question.
COOPER WRIGHT: Hey Andrea huge fan, I’ve got a quick question. We know that Riley Owens has stepped away from MLC for the time being. However, on the internet we’ve heard he is still part of your team. Has he, or Ryan for that matter, helped you train for this fight with Shultz?
ANDREAS GEORGIADIS: Good question. Yeah, he’s still round we’ve been working on some stuff in the gym. He’s been a huge part of this camp, they’ve both have gotten me ready for this.
