Alteration magic can be used to change the fundamentals of physics and biology. It can harden the caster's skin until it is like armor, cause a lock to pop open without a key, or burden an enemy with invisible weight. Alteration magic's greatest strengths are outside of combat. Many thieves and assassins make use of this school to benefit their careers. Alteration is different to Illusion in that it alters the rules of nature, creating a reality that is recognized by everyone, rather than in the mind of the caster and the target.

Conjuration involves the Calling forth creatures from other worlds and creating weapons with magic - which are two of the most beneficial tools a caster can utilize. Because of this, casters of all types make use of the school of Conjuration. Dedicated casters, players who enjoy having creatures to draw enemy fire, and heavy fighters who employ the freedom of movement that conjured armor provides, all benefit from Conjuration. Mages specializing in Conjuration are referred to as Conjurers. Conjuration connects the caster's mind with that of the summoned thing. It is a tenuous link, meant only to lure, hold, and dismiss; but in the hands of a Master, it can be much stronger. Necromancy, a sub-specialization of Conjuration, focuses exclusively on reanimating the corpses of the dead humans and animals. The practice is generally considered unethical by the Council of Races of Miami.

Destruction is a combat-form of magic. It is the mastery of the spell effects that "harm living and unliving things, and include elemental damage, draining, damaging, vulnerability, and disintegration magical effects." Destruction is typically used by Battlemages, and also, curses are considered a non-direct form of destruction magic.

The School of Illusion involves manipulating the mind and senses of the enemy. The skill can manipulate things like fear, persuasion, and invisibility. Things are rarely as they seem in Miami, and casters who practice the deceptive art of Illusion prefer it that way. Illusion is an excellent talent for a caster who wishes to swindle a merchant, sneak around undetected, or drive a creature into a frenzy to escape.

The school of Restoration is dedicated to healing injuries, curing illnesses, poisons, and diseases, the fortification of attributes, shielding and preventing damage, and also includes some spells that manipulate the undead in various ways, most commonly causing them to flee.

Enchantment (or enchanting) is a form of magic favoured by shamans of the races in Detroit. It involves the art of adding magical effects onto mundane weapons and items, as well as the act of potion and poison making - enchanting funds the black market of potions in Miami.

The Council of Races are the de-facto 'advisory council' of all Magical and Mythical matters in the city of Detroit. Consisting of an elected governor from each of the magical races, as-well as a human elected ambassador to the council, the councils main effort has always been to hide the Mystic races of Detroit's underworld from the Mundane population: 'Us and Them' has become a Mundaphobic slogan for the councils efforts to divide Mundane Human life and the lives of the council races.

PHAEDRA is a loosely knit group of criminal and supernatural supremacist Warlords who are intent on enslaving humanity in their regions as well as practicing the illegal practices of Necromancy and Dark Magic-summong into the Hell regions. The PHAEDRA are responsible for most of the crime, drugs, and prostitution and human trafficking in Miami.

The United States Government is the primary and largest faction in Miami. The Police, Military, FBI and CIA belong to this, and it employs both supernaturals and humans in order to maintain the status quo in Miami.

The Hunters of Judea are a neo-Christian group of Human hunters who have exelled in hunting and killing the Supernatural in Miami for decades. Classed as a cult by the Government, they are infact closer to a Private Military Corporation, and have the latest in high-tech monster killing equipment.

The Miami Police Department is the law enforcement agency in Miami.
