ZAFT Military Medals and Badges; Just a thought

Hey all, I know I'm new and I have NO right or shouldn't have much of a say in things, but I thought I'd make an offer to make something that might make the site seem... a little more attractive, and give people something to work towards since rank doesn't really matter to much, and we all know we aren't going to be piloting Gundam's XD.

So I thought I'd create a couple of ribbons/medals for characters to be awarded and edited into their bio as they're given. Of course I can understand if you don't want this, but I just thought we'd shine a small light on the award part of the ZAFT Forces, after all they do have them, there was mention of them in destiny after all lol. Anyways, I'm willing to put something together, and even get to the point of making what they'd be awarded for. There will be a small handful that can be awarded depending on the characters service record upon approval (Combat Actions ribbons, WIA Medal's, ect), but most will only be attained and won through IC Merit... MEANING, your characters will actually have to prove themselves worthy to get the honour.

I was also thinking of adding some badges that will be awarded either after character approval, or IC (Like the FAITH badge). Basically it'll be like the medals, just have a bit of a different setup.

In truth I'm hoping to give ZAFT a slight way of telling who's more senior, or more experienced in the ranks, since uniforms don't... really tell all to much save a couple of service badges. Anyway's let me know what you think.

If anyone else has any ideas or suggestions feel free to post them up... why I posted this here after all XD.

Agree and disagree in part.

Given the volatile nature of an RP, especially an RP set in a time of war, it would become more than a handful to keep track of such things.

Let's say we have all 71 registered members on at all times, and they're fully active and posting - that's 71 people we have to keep track of posts for, which can get tedious especially with summer life beginning and people working.

Kenji does, however, think this would be a nice addition if it could be implemented properly. How and what is proper is the subject of debate, however.

Well I had an idea to help manage this a little easier. Like the real military it's up to the CO's to award the medals, or recommend them to the staff through PM, or in another part of the site. Would make it easier to manage as the CO's are often involved within the battles, and can get eyes on the whole scene and who did what, and how they did it, ect. Should be rather interesting to do, and a fun little addition that might make command a little more... realistic XD.

Right, but there one can expect favoritism.

The person would have to be completely un-biased and able to appropriately award said things. Not everyone is fair, and a lot of people tend to lean in the direction of their friends. We also have people with characters in positions that would allow them to just bump up their characters with awards and whatnot.

Tis why Kenji says it would be difficult and warrants definite discussion depending on how the Staff Team feels~

An example of someone you need IRL, not to toot my own horn, is Malum. Even in failure he awards the men and women who go into battle, and is rather honorable to everyone. He's not a rank-saurus rex or anything. He wants to see everyone get what is due to them.

We'll have to see, but I agree with your assessment of how more people seem to support their friends and own characters. Though that's also why I suggested it to be a recommend, which could be posted on a forum for a moderator or staffer to look over (depending on the level of the award). Like IRL, you'd still need an investigation into the action to ensure the one receiving the award is worthy enough to receive it. Though up to what the staff chooses for the idea lol.

More so since some Medals (Top 3 awards) would require the Supreme Chairman to award the medal to the pilot/soldier/commander/crew member. Don't want to award the undeserving XD.... though in truth the highest honour is usually awarded if you get KIA whilst doing something quite heroic, since it's often rare to survive such moments sadly...

Silly, all members, new or otherwise, are encouraged to make suggestions that may enhance the board. Tis the purpose of the Feedback, lol.

With some confusion that has occurred, the Staff has been working on a more concrete Coat/Rank system. It is still nowhere near complex as it might be, but we are at least trying to provide a little clarity for where things stand while keeping it simple by adding some position names and providing the proper Coat Color Progression.

Medals and Badges would be another easy way to add a little prestige and recognition to the characters within the RP. It seems interesting~ It's true uniforms do not tell much about the seniority of ZAFT soldiers and this is part of the reason we include the updating Service Record in the profiles so they can continue to build history. But I think awards would be nice recognition as well.

Perhaps to prevent the problems being discussed, this can be a combination of the ideas. CO's can nominate individuals for the awards, but the actual decision would be made in an OOC thread that everyone can comment on. Kenji was interested in doing MoTM activites, but we do not really have enough members for such a thing. But if we do something similar to MoTM for picking awards, we have many characters that would be involved in battles and activities. So at the end of any big plot things or whenever someone nominates an interesting thread, we can have an Award Review Thread where people determine whether or not there is something worthy of recognition~

Perhaps. :P

That's an even better idea XD. I think it'd be a rather interesting idea. Also I'm still willing to help make the awards. I've got a little experience in making them so I hope I can help in any way :).
