OOC note to Vince: Be quick about getting there.. Don't beat around the bush, and don't take more than one post for Gordon make it to the warehouse. ---With Gordon--- Shoving the remainder of a doughnut into his mouth, Harvey Bullock—police detective at the GPD—ran up to the Commissioner's side and asked him, "Where ya headin', boss?" ---Maroni's location--- Maroni was nearly scot free; he just need to grab his wife and kids... "Where the hell are we?" Sal asked his driver, with no response forthcoming. "Yo! ... I said where the hell are we!?" he repeated, raising his voice. "Roberto! I'm talking to you!" Nothing. The window separating the driver's side and the backseat passenger side suddenly closed, and both of the doors locked. "HEY! WHAT'S GOIN' ON HERE!?!" Maroni yelled as he desperately tried to open his door, then attempted to bash open the window. The car finally came to an abrupt stop and the engine was turned off. Maroni's heart was pounding by this point. Sweat was running from his forehead down to his chin. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small revolver in expectation of whatever might happen. The door on his far right unlocked and slowly opened. He took aim... And then— To be continued... OOC: I think these sum up Harvey Bullock fairly well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZtMZlOiqLk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdY4e5DAFUU |

((I'll try. =\ I'll get Gordon to brush off Harvey and get there. Depends on how stubborn he is.)) Gorden looked over and saw Bullock approaching. Of course this couldn't be easy. "Nothing," he said quickly, "I'm on my way to the location of an anonymous tip on where Maroni is," he lied. "He wanted me to go alone, so just stay here with the S.W.A.T team and finish cleaning up. I'll let you know how the tip goes," he finished, quickening his pace towards the warehouse. It wasn't too far away from where they were right now. And, knowing that, Gordon knew he didn't have much time to get rid of Harvey. He couldn't reveal that he was collaborating with Batman to expose and detain criminals. |

"Right... Sure thing, Commish. I'll keep things going smooth 'round here," Bullock lied through his teeth, watching Gordon leave in quite the hurry. I guess I'll just have to see about that anonymous tip. Could be The Bat. Bullock always figured Gordon for working with Batman, but didn't have any proof. Besides... Bullock would rather bring in The Batman himself rather than finger Gordon. Whether the commissioner knew it or not, Bullock highly respected him as both a man of the law, as well as a human being. |

That was too easy... I'll have to keep a keen eye out for him... Gordon continued down the street, deciding to take a detour of back alleys and corridors to help in losing Harvey. After he wove for several minutes, he finally made it to the warehouse. "This is the place," he muttered, slowly approaching it. "But why here? Sal wouldn't come to... no, he would... I just need to trust him," Gordon muttered to himself. "He hasn't let me down before. No need to doubt him now." |

---Maroni--- His body was strung up on a lamppost just a few feet away from his car - left out in the open for people to find. He was naked; his clothing having been torn off, and an arrow stuck in his throat. It was a very unnerving sight indeed for anyone that would see it. His chest had the word "murderer" carved into it with a very sharp blade. It would only be a matter of time before someone would spot it, but when would the car be found? It had disappeared mysteriously with no signs of where it had gone. ---Rhino--- Rhino had meanwhile made it to his boss's hideout without being "followed" in th traditional sense of the word, but nevertheless he had lead Batman to not only himself, but to his boss and all of their loot, too. Whenever Batman shows up, Rhino will certainly feel like the world's biggest jerk. ---Harvey Bullock--- It wasn't easy following the commissioner; even at his relatively old age he was still in good shape - Bullock on the other hand was at least 25 years younger, but was so weighed down by his prodigious girth from all of the nights of pizza, and doughnuts, and soda pops, that keeping up with Gordon was honestly proving to be a challenge. He didn't give up, however, as Bullock was the stubborn type. He finally made it to the warehouse, but it seemed he had missed all the action as he saw Batman leaving in a blur of darkness up into the sky. "Wha-what the...?" Bullock muttered to himself. Stepping out from the shadows, Bullock came up to the Commissioner and pretended he didn't just see what he saw and said, "I figured you'd need at least SOMEBODY to cover your keister! So what's the situation, commish?" |

Gordon turned around rather suddenly when Harvey approached. "Damn it, Harvey. I may be old but I can damn well take care of myself. I told you to stay at the scene! They need someone to tell them what to do!" he said, irritated. At this point he was out of ideas in disposing of Harvey. I should have known earlier... "You do realize that your prescense could scare off our tip?" I lied, though made it sound quite convincing. "We can't afford to lose this tip. We've already made ourselves and the S.W.A.T look like fools for making a gunfight break out in the middle of the night on Sal's mansion when he wasn't even there! I'm not taking a step until you're on your way, Harvey," he said, turning quickly. "So go. Now." |

Someone else had gotten to him first... Batman surveyed the scene, looking for any trace of the murderers, and it soon became clear. They had left in a car, maybe Maroni's, maybe not. With luck though, the tracer on Rhino's car would lead him straight to the culprits. With a swish of his cape, the Dark Knight stalked the night once again. As he came close, the tracker clearly pointed to near a shadowed warehouse, and like many of the others in this city, it was no doubt under the dominion of some crime lord. Spotting the car that he was tracing, Batman walks up to it, examining the inside for anything of importance. As it turned out, Rhino was in a hurry, he hadn't taken his lingerie magazines, or the half-eaten burger he'd left in there. But who could blame him? The Batman was on his trail. Turning around, Batman walked to the nearest entrance, pulling open the protesting door.... Mannequins, all haphazardly placed throughout the large warehouse were just manneuins. Silently, Batman prepared himself. Something was wrong here... Edited by 0SilverHawk0, Jun 10 2009, 10:57 AM.

Bullock walked away, mumbling to himself - no doubt cursing a bit. The only thing I can't stand about him - Batman is his little run-to buddy. ---Meanwhile--- "Boss! Boss!" Rhino exclaimed as he entered the room where a small group of criminals were gathered up at. "The Bat—" he was cut off by his boss's loud voice, something that was very much like out of one of those old gangster movies, "What in blue blazes are ya doin' runnin' in here wit'out even seein' if I was talkin'!?" It was clear that the boss was angry for being interrupted, but he quickly changed his tone of voice. "Wait... Did yous just say sometin' about The Bat?" he asked, having lowered his voice. "Uh... Y-yeah...?" Rhino said hesitantly. "And just WHAT was it yous were gonna say about 'em?" Scarface asked. With a heavy gulp, Rhino responded with, "He took out Mugsy and the boys.. We were makin' the hit on Maroni's goons when out of nowhere The Bat showed up! I fought him and got in a few licks, but he outwitted me and took off - not without takin' Mugsy and the others out first, you see," While no one could really see Scarface's face, it was apparent he was probably starting to get flustered. "It don't take much to outwit you ya big lard butt. Did ya get the moolah like you was supposed to?" he asked his more than bewildered thug. "Uhhh... No.. We, uh.. Lost it," he said very slowly. "YOU LOST THE CASH!? You lame brained ignorant ass! I oughta ice you right this moment," Scarface threatened. "N-No no boss! I swear t' God, it wasn't my fault. It was Mugsy's!" Rhino lied, trying to put the blame on someone else. The sad truth of the matter was that they all failed, and Scarface wanted to make sure Rhino understood that. "I don't care WHO did what - you both screwed up... Now I's gotta clean up the mess.. Wait!" he exclaimed, "Did The Bat follow yous here!?" Rhino began sweating profusely at this point, and his voice was starting to crackle too, "N-nuh-no. B-B-Boss.. I made s-sure of that.." it was quite amusing watching this big fellow nearly cower before this shadowy figure - no doubt Scarface was a giant of a man... Powerful too. |

Silently, the Dark Knight listened in on the conversation, a directional mic pointed at the group to keep from giving himself away. He was about on the opposite side of the building, as far away as he could be without losing his line of sight of the men in the large room on the west side of the building. There was Rhino, and couple other thugs, but Rhino wasn't talking to them, but rather someone just out of sight. Judging by the commanding voice, he must be one of the crime lords. The directional mic also served another purpose, he could record the conversation and give the recordings to the police if they were of use, which undoubtedly they would be, if Batman was right. Switching off the mic, and storing it in his belt, Batman snuck closer, flattening against the wall, and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The conversations was clear to his own ears now, and he kept listening, hoping to get more of an idea who the enigmatic man was he had heard.

"Riiiight. And I'm sure you made yourself absolutely positive of dis too, right?" Scarface rhetorically asked. "This thing has taken down all sorts of big time thugs, and YOU — the biggest, loudest, clumsiest dimwit in the woild — manage to shake The Bat off yer trail? Ya, I buy that," he finished, standing up and stepping closer to the light. His figure was starting to become clear by this point, and he didn't seem to be that tall of a man. No doubt he had a fierce looking figure and gruff face. "I wouldn't be surprised in dah least if he was followin' you the whole ways here," he continued to rant, though oddly enough wasn't moving an inch from what little of him could be seen. Stepping closer into the light, his legs and face were partially visible, but his mouth and nose were still in the dark. He appeared to be wearing glasses and was bald on the top of his head, and what little left was white as snow. Once more, he spoke without moving an inch, "Do I have to do all the thinkin' around here!?" He let out a sigh, and then finally stepped out from the shadows... Not only was this man a midget compared to Rhino, he appeared to be middle aged, and a serious wimp. The man stood at only 5 feet 5 inches at best, and had the most timid look etched on him. What more; he had no scars to speak of... But the most bizarre part of all was the fact he was holding a wooden dummy, dressed in a gangster's outfit, with a scar etched onto it's face across it's right cheek. The dummy's mouth started to move and he "spoke" once more, "Alright! Listen up everyone! We probably can expect company real soon, so all yous keep yer eyes peeled!" The man holding "Scarface" looked down at the dummy and asked, in a very timid sounding voice, "Mr. Scarface, sir. You don't think he really is going to find us, do you?" Scarface's eyes looked up at this man and he said, "I'm countin' on it at this point, chump!" |

Leaning in a little, Batman peeks into the room. Seeing a small, middle-aged man with a puppet, he retreats back to his earlier position. Since there wasn't likely to be much more interesting in this conversation, Batman looks for a way to sneak in without their noticing. |

The goons started spreading out and watching the hallways of the warehouse carefully for any sign of trouble, especially up at the ceiling and other high places. "Alright, Wesker. Let's hoof it to my office!" Scarface said to the man holding him. "Certainly, Mr. Scarface," Wesker said in a rather timid voice. It was completely bizarre watching this man actually carry on a conversation, let alone take orders and even act fearful of a wooden dummy. This was, however, the perfect moment for someone to weigh in the situations, the multiple targets, and lastly put the beat down on 'em. |

Finally finding a secluded window near a corner, almost covered entirely by shadow, the Dark Knight slips through, and weighs the situation. Ambushing the guards, one by one, was almost too easy, and the several they had posted down here were quickly gone. That's what they got for being cheap with the hired help. Swiftly now, Batman slipped up the stairs to where Scarface had said he would be. |

Rhino didn't see it coming - a flying kick to his back sent him to the ground, followed by a quick punch to the back of the head which smashed his head against the hard concrete floor. Any harder and his skull would have split open. The last thing he heard before blanking out was the muffled sounds of his cohorts being taken down one by one. ---Meanwhile, in Scarface's office--- "What in blue blazes!?" Scarface yelled from his desk, hat lying on the table. No Wesker in sight, however. Where could he have gone? The weasel of a man had to be somewhere. "D-Don't m-m-move... I have you covered!" Wesker said from behind the Dark Knight. He was armed with a Tommy gun; a 100 round drum clip attached to it. "I-if you m-move I'll b-bl—" "Oh, fer cryin' out loud! You'll shoot the bastard! Just say it ya twit!" Scarface interjected. It was apparent to Batman that this Wesker fellow was quite good at throwing his voice. "S-Sorry Mr. Scarface, sir. I'm no good at this sorta thing," Wesker apologized. "Like most things in life, amirite?" Scarface rhetorically asked. "Just give me the damn gun and let's call it a night," he ordered Wesker. Wesker, however, was very nervous and didn't want to walk out in front of Batman when he had this advantage. "Okay..." Scarface started, "If yous is too chicken to come here, then just pump 'em full of lead already and be done with it!" Edited by Malkavia, Jun 10 2009, 04:06 PM.

Suddenly, the Batman whirls around, extending his foot, and hitting Weskers arm, following it up with a karate chop across the middle of his arm for good measure. Crying out in pain, Wesker drops the gun. Batman kicks away the gun, then throws Wesker down, although without incapacitating him. Turning, the Dark Knight faces the doll, Scarface. Without a word he strides up to the desk, warily unsheathing a batarang.

The dummy was making grunts and groans as if he were struggling out of Batman's grasp - of course this was totally pointless since no one was actually controlling it physically. Wesker tried to go for his gun, but Scarface yelled, "Don't you bumbling idiot! You'll hit me, too!" Wesker backed away from the gun and stood still, almost whimpering while he stood there. Finally, "Scarface" spoke to Batsy, "Listen..." he started, lowering his voice and sounding more friendly, "Maybe yous and me got off on the wrong foot," he continued, sounding like he was ready to make a proposition. "If I give you the names of some of my accomplices, then could yous let me go?" |

"Perhaps...tell me the names." Batman figured he wouldn't actually say anything if he said his actual intentions, and no doubt Scarface was smart enough to notice the lie. Still, it couldn't hurt to try to trick him. |

Scarface wasn't about to give up his helping hands if they knew who gave them up - for no other reason than the fact they'd have his wooden head on a stick once they knew. He knew some people who were just as powerful as him, and that he was fortunate enough to be "allies" with. Now wasn't the time to flush it all down the toilet. "Okay. I'll tell you if you say that someone else gave you the information. Can't be fingered as a snitch; heads might start rollin' if you know what I mean," he said. "Come here..." he whispered, clearly not wanting Wesker to hear what he was about to say. With a lower voice he said, "We can just say that weasel Wesker there was the one that ratted them out. Sound good to you?" |
