Hi all,
Recently I have been going through a lack of mojo with regards to finishing a model, I have started 4 and all have ended up on the Shelf of Doom. So I decided to get out a nice Tamiya kit and try and break the cycle, I started this kit last Saturday and finished it yesterday:

It is a great kit that goes together without any issues what so ever, and there was no filler required anywhere.

Thanks for looking in :cool

If thats what you call a shelf of doom job, then I`d hate to see a model your really enjoying making. Thats excellent

The weathering is great and are you going to stick a swasi on the tail?

This looks absolutely amazing, great job! Am I right to assume that this is Hans Dortenmann's W.Nr. 210003?

Thanks Tom, much appreciated :cool With regards to Hans Dortenmann, I have no idea TBH mate, I just seen the scheme online somewhere and took a fancy to it. I used the kit decals that were appropriate, that is why there is no "squiggle" on the rear of the fuselage :whistle

Ah, fair enough  I'm nursing a soft spot for the D-9, that's why I've seen a few photos and profiles. I was wondering because there's a detail or two on your model that wouldn't quite fit with Dortenmann's mount. Your Tamiya kit was the JV44 boxing, right?

Anyway, let's assume that this is indeed W.Nr. 210003. This was the very first D-9 to enter service with the Luftwaffe in September 1944. The two W.Nrs. before it were retained by Focke-Wulf for further testing and development. It served right till the end of the war, when it was blown up by Dortenmann himself when he faced surrender on May 5th, 1945. It lasted for more than seven months. At that time and under the circumstances, this was not a bad feat for both Luftwaffe airplanes and pilots...

Again, this is a great looking model, and I wish I could make mine just half as good :redface
