You're right Mark, I must admit I thought it was a genuine idea though. |

Blaine, as much as I'd like to see both of these, I'm afraid I don't see how they fit into this GB. The first one is not a Tiger but a Panzer IV, and I'm not aware that the PzH 2000 has any nickname at all. (Please correct me if I'm wrong...) From the Girls und Panzer franchise, there are many German cat tanks available though. Panther, Jagdpanther, Jagdtiger, Tiger, Kingtiger, even a Porsche Tiger... ;-) Edited by TomTheCat, Jun 2 2018, 10:11 PM.

Silly me. I somehow had it in my head that Panzer translated to Panther; never mind. |

Tom, who is a native German speaker, would know far, far better than us so on that note I concur with him. With that in mind I'll step back and watch the Flak fly. |

Being an old fart with nothing better to do I decided to let my finger do the walking (isn't the internet fantastic) and found that the German word Panzer DOESN'T mean Panther but Armour or even Tank and that Panther is the same in German namely an animal. Finding a site that pronounces words it was interesting to find both Panzer and Panther sound more or less the same in German to my bunged up ears but completely different in English. |

Wikipedia call it this Panzerkampfwagen V (translates roughly as Armoured Combat vehicle Mk V and nameless). 25 tonnes and dates from 1939. The Panther Ausf. D tank is something quite different with 45 tonnes and dating from 1943. I'm not the right person to ask as all I do is quote Wikipedia but I'm having great fun though. That's perfectly right! Del, in the mid-1930s there were indeed two "Neubaufahrzeug" (lit. new construction vehicle) designs in the works. One by the company Rheinmetall (Type V), the other by Krupp (Type VI). Both were short-lived however, only two Vs and three VIs were built. Although one of these was photographed as late as 1944 in Romania, the "V" and "VI" designations were obviously re-assigned to the eventual Panther and Tiger designs. It's also correct that the German word "Panzer" means both "armour" and "tank" in English but has nothing to do with the animal called Panther. Blaine has already stated that he was mistaken about that, so no drama there. I'm sure he can find something in his stash that meets the requirements for this GB Perhaps someone would like to build a Spähpanzer (Reconnaissance tank) "Luchs" (Lynx)?
