My mum has always liked the Vulcan, ever since the late 70's when we lived at RAF Digby and regularly saw Waddo's aircraft flying over.
At Xmas my dad asked me if I would make a Vulcan for my mum, similar to the one I did for the V-bombers tribute weekend.

The only difference being it has to be camouflaged.

So, having done some research, I found I could get the decals for this....

Why this? Well, my dad was on the flight line replen team in Singapore when this aircraft landed, having taken off from New Zealand, complete with new roundels. He has photos of it, taken as it came in.
So, it's a bit more personal.

Firstly, I ordered said decals from Hannants.
Then, onto the Bay of E to find a Vulcan. I missed out on the first one, which went for £1 + £3.50 postage.
Then I found one for £21 BIN, £7 postage....Bargain, just saved £3.50 :rolf

A trip to Johnny Birketts, our local military surplus dealer, revealed he has plenty of actual Vulcan control units and meters...but he's shut today.

But, it's coming together.

I'm planning an additional surprise to go with it, for my dad, but more of that later...

Wow, a Kiwi roundeled Vulcan, now that should please her no end. I'm guessing some sort of different mount for it when said shop opens.

And a UHF radio control box from a Vulcan.

It needs cleaning up and the rear part will get repainted black.

After a nice trip to Birmingham, and some additions to the stash, I can reveal pt2 of Project Mum.

74 Sqn were at RAF Tengah during my dad's posting there, so, as an addition to my mum's Vulcan. I will be doing my dad a Lightning. I have got a Lightning gauge to mount it over. It looks like a brake pressure gauge. I have ordered the base plates. I just need to order the Perspex rod and then I will have all the bits I need.

Cheers. Do they do rod and tubing? I'm going to do these ones differently to the last, seeing as I have more time.

No. thank you. I just thought I'd get it when I saw it. Cost me a bit more, but I just thought it best to get it when I saw it.
