Recently heard about this, thought I would share it as I believe some of the members are from around there.

Oops!

Although a very powerful weapon, looking at a map I find it hard to believe the part about Lincoln Cathedral being flattened, had the bomb detonated at Scampton. A bit of dramatic licence perhaps?

the catherdral is too far away, although it is on the edge of a hill, the vibration may have broke a few of its windows

I had heard about this, but I thought it was the one that was there in the 70's. Glad it wasn't, because my parents have a photo of me stood next to it.....

Lincoln Cathedral is about 7 or 8 miles from us, so, if what they say about a 10 mile blast radius, it's possible that some damage could have been done to it.

Blimey, 10 miles radius. If exploded at Shoeburyness it would have decimated the AWRE there as well as most of the town so more likely in the North Sea/Thames Estuary off of Foulness island. The whole area was controlled by the military at the time and very secret squirrel.
